I get calls from London and Malaysia (how do they get my number?!) trying to flog me all sorts of financial rubbish. I tell them I'm driving, can't talk, log their number as 'do not answer' on my phone.

I'm sure any cut of beef will do. You could just get some thinly sliced beef and flash fry it first.

Nope, not found any in Dubai I'm afraid. In HK I was spoiled for choice. You might be better of trying to recreate it at home. You could try some of the Japanese restaurants? I have read that there is a new Vietnamese restaurant opened in JBR so they may do something close?

In the area on your way to Waitrose, near HSBC. They are taking over the space from the Thai furniture store that used to be there.

Anyone bought a honeydew melon that taste's like a real honeydew melon please? Ones I have tried recently all taste either bland or overripe. I bought one at C4 today and that was disappointing. I don't mind paying a bit more if I can get the quality. Thanks.

I tried the Express facial (half hr/40 mins) at The Cure in Media City (is that downtown?) the other day and that was quite good. AED 250. The lady was called Flor (she filled in for the Russian beautician whose name escapes me) and she has great hands for massage. They use Dermalogica products.

I think so. if you are going to be here for the long term and know your job is secure then it is worth looking. The past few years will no doubt have given us a valuable lesson about the markets so make sure you do your homework, read the small print and get a watertight mortgage document. And if you get pressure from estate agents be prepared to walk away cuz there are plenty of properties out there. You could always buy from your LL if the price and property are right and you cut out the estate agent! HTH.

I use the dandruff cleansing soap bar from Lush. It really stinks but seems to work for me. Also changing my shampoo occasionally and using Sebamed shampoo seems to calm things down. If it is really itchy, then get the Betnovate topical scalp lotion from the chemist and you'll get instant relief for a few days.

I have a long haired Persian and although she got the full lion cut treatment 2 months ago, it is growing back I can see she is trying to keep cool by spreading out on the kitchen tiles. A/C helps but I think the No.1 trim will keep them happy. Must take mine in this week too.

Bit of a long shot but how about contacting Ludmilla Yamalova who is the guest lawyer on the Siobhan Live Property Show on 103.8 from 12 - 2pm Sundays? She is good at addressing these sorts of issues and following up on them and at least if it gets aired publicly it might help? You could try emailing her in advance of sms the show on the actual day. From the website it is: [email protected].

I wonder whether Emaar are doing this as a last ditch attempt to recover fees owned by LLs and they are compiling a black list to submit to Rera so any future attempts to have those properties let out will be prohibited? Or they will take the LL to court and try to repossess the property? Same as if you are late with your mortgage payments the bank. I'm not sure what happens if you are late with council tax in the UK but I would imagine yiu'd be served with eviction notices. Refusing to collect refuse is futile as it will affect the whole neighborhood and a health hazard. Worst scenario is that the security guards at the entrances refuse you entry or impound your cars! Buy me A pony please let us know how this develops and I hope it gets resolved soon. Sorry to hear.

I live in Meadows and you can adjust the vents to they don't blow on top of you. Get your maintenance guy to come in and give the aircons a good clean out and perhaps that will help. I have got used to it over time and I'm a fairly light sleeper. Also, I installed a fan where the ceiling light socket was and that keeps the air moving so I can sleep for a few hours w/o aircon.

Thanks Ladies for the recommendations. We went to Fanr in the end after the exhibition (which definitely is worth seeing and it finishes July 17) as DD was getting very hungry. Good selection of food, fab salads and DH had the gorgeous mushroom soup. I had the prawn laksa which was okay but good coffee and cakes after.

Yes you are right. My maid had to go through the whole rigmarole of obtaining the OWWA approval. Submitting paperwork has got more stringent, there are so many copies of everything including originals you have to submit. She showed the embassy the article and they didnt know anything about it. No surprises there.

I really enjoyed the show when she finally bothered to come on. Yes, it was gothic, dark and first couple of songs were really un-PC but I expect being Madonna she got artistic licence otherwise she wouldn't have done it. Great dancers. Screens were too small on either side. 1045pm start was ridiculous considering alot of people came from a long way. Where we were alot of people starting leaving after an hour because it got so late. And yeah, stupid we couldn't keep the tops on our bottles but apparently DH says it's to stop people from lobbing cans and bottles (maybe they knew she was going to come on late!). Queues for drinks and loos were fine. If you are going tonight I expect she'll probably come on a bit earlier but wouldn't rush to get there.

Ural is good and has helped flush my system. I am also taking Cranberry Plus with Probiotics by BioCare which you can get at Organic Cafe and you have to keep this in the fridge. Actimel and Yakult are also supposed to help but Yakult is very expensive!

Gynae said no pelvic infection but suspected that the antibiotics messed up the flora of the good bacteria in the plumbing region. The diflucan and canestan also takes up to 2-3 days to work so I was being impatient. Said drink lots of cranberry juice, water, take probiotics, eat live yogurt and also gave me lotraderm cream for the itchiness. Also I should have taken ibuprofen for the pain instead of suffering through it. So I did and it worked. Thanks for your advice ladies!

You can always give her what you would be comfortable with with the expectation of not getting it back and tell her when you do give her whatever amount you decide that it is a one-off and please do not ask you ever again. Unfortunately I have had two similar incidences with taxi drivers whom I use on a regular basis who think that when you become a regular customer you turn into an ATM. The first one wanted me to lend him money to cover his kid's school fees and the 2nd one wanted me to help pay for his new bride's airfare to Dubai. Of course both said they'd pay me back but in both instances I became immediately uncomfortable and stopped using them. I have discussed this with various friends and all have said you can give with the expectation of never seeing it again. One friend said that due to their circumstances it is a borrowing culture and they expect (financial) favours in return for favours. As far as I am concerned if I order a taxi and tip you generously on top doesn't mean I am an open cheque book. I hate to be made to feel emotionally blackmailed or uncomfortable so now say outright no that I do not lend to anyone period.
