I had the pleasure of meeting Patch today and can vouch that not only is he GORGEOUS to look at, he is also a really happy wee chap with a GORGEOUS sunny disposition. Just adorable. Gutted that we're leaving as I would have loved to have had him. He would make a lovely member of someone's family.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Dr Christian Jozsa at Healthbay Polyclinic diagnosed me with it last year and did my lap op. I normally find you get appointments very quickly- sometimes even the same day. Good luck.

Thank you very much to the lovely kind ladies who took time to reply to my thread of desperation- your words of experience, advice and encouragement are all very very much appreciated. I am sorry to hear of all the losses that you have been through. Things seem a little brighter. I have done lots of crying and had a couple of acupuncture sessions to help get some energy back. My husband comes back tomorrow for the weekend so I am really looking forward to seeing him. At the moment it's one day at a time but I am very pleased that the horrible darkness doesn't seem so all consuming. Thank you again.

Thank you all for your advice and your help. I am sure it cannot of been easy to write and am truly grateful. M&S- thanks so much for your kind offer but truly you don't need my miserable face in your day! I am going to go to bed now and hope that tomorrow feels brighter. I had hoped to make consistent progress but feel like I'm going 1 step forward and 2 steps back at the moment. Thanks again. x

I'm sorry to hear your sad news :( I know how it is, nothing anyone can say will take the pain away and make you feel better. I have had 2 previous MC's. First one was utterly devastating for me, no heartbeat at my 12 week scan. To be completely honest with you it took me a long time to get over it, close to a year. But similar to you, DH wasn't there when I found out about the MC and for the following 12 months he was working away a lot, which I think made it harder for me. Then we moved overseas and I just had this new lease of life and felt extremely positive about the future. I forgot about TTC as we then put it off till we were settled. 12 months after that I fell pregnant, totally unexpected, but sadly MC'd again a couple weeks later. The 2nd MC, while sad, didn't affect me the way the first one did, probably because it was more of a shock, I don't know. A couple years on and I now have a beautiful 8 month baby girl. She is everything to me and DH. Reason I mention her is... for some 'weird' reason I have concluded in my mind that she was our chosen baby. The other 2 were not. I'm a huge believer in fate and I just believe now that had I not had the 2 previous MC's I would not have my baby girl. Yes the 2 previous babes would have been the light of our life, but when I look into my DD's eyes I just have a peace and calmness that what happened previously was meant to happen. I know that doesn't make you feel better, but believe me, one day in the near future when you ARE nursing your beautiful little baby that you and DH will be blessed with it will take the pain away. You'll never forget your precious little angel you lost, but you will know that the baby you're cuddling was meant for you. There is no set time to get over a MC, you just work your way through it and with each day, week, month you will get stronger. Hang in there! Hope I have gone some way into helping you realize you will smile again and your life will be full of lots of baby love. Bug hugs to you!! Thank you so much Shellly for your post. I am so sorry for your losses but am pleased to hear about your lovely baby :) That's so nice. I just feel so pathetic. It was only 8 and a half weeks so I should be dealing with it better. Must have been far worse for you to discover at 12 weeks- at least we were blessed with having weekly scans so found out almost immediately. DH is doing way better than I am. I had been so looking forward to moving home- to be nearer to friends and family. Now I am dreading it. I gave up my career to do the fertility cycles (which most people at home don't know about) and have put on a stone so return home without a baby or a bump (if the last baby had worked I'd have been 15 weeks then), no job, a stone heavier and totally unfit and flabby. I know I could fix the latter if I got off my butt but I am struggling to get up and showered each morning at the moment. I wish someone would knock me over the head with a hammer until this was over! edited by dubai71 on 14/06/2011

Oh dubai71, you poor, poor thing. Give yourself some time petal and be gentle with your expectations of yourself. You sound frightened and sad. Have you got any friends around? Not really but I only have myself to blame for that. My husband and I moved here together but were only dating before (living opposite sides of London) that and have loads of friends in the UK so here was a great opportunity to have quality time together and that's what we've mainly done, which has been amazing and time we'd never have got at home. But now, of course, he has gone and to be honest I'd be rubbish company if I did have it anyway! I know I need to pull myself together. I am interested in how long it took other people as I'm doing a really pathetic job at the moment. I know that there are far far worse things to go through but just want to know there is light at the end of this tunnel!

Moo Moo- I have followed your posts. I am not sure I can really help but will give it shot if you think anything will help. First off I live in an apartment (21st floor) but would be more than happy to walk the chap: secondly I have an adopted street cat who is only a year and half old and has always had our undivided attention (i.e. spoilt puss); and finally I am moving back to the UK early/mid July. So I could certainly not offer you a forever home (although I'd love to) but if any of the above sounds do-able to you on a short term basis (I'm not sure it does...?) I would love to help. Let me know. And if not all the very best for Winston and your new life.

Can't figure out the bit that's blanked out in your message- must be me being thick. To be honest, I'm really struggling. But I went and saw a counsellor this morning and she was lovely and very helpful, and it was healing I think to talk/cry with someone. My husband is flying back tomorrow for the weekend so I can't wait for that :) Thanks for your message. If you're on Cyclogest just let me know, it feels wrong to bin it especially when supplies here are often difficult to come by. x edited by dubai71 on 09/06/2011

Thank you also to Abby & Full. I just can't believe this has happened again. I am hoping I don't bleed and can have the operation next weekend when my husband is back here. I'm 40 in September and have had 1 prior miscarriage (natural pregnancy), 2 endo ops and 3 rounds of IVF (the ops and IVF all in the last 6 months). I don't want to have babies much later. We're moving back to the UK in 6 weeks (my husband has gone tonight) and I had romantic notions of going back with a much wanted bump, now I'll just be returning fat and not on great form. I know there are people going though far worse things but just at this moment I feel a bit sorry for myself. Will kick my butt into gear tomorrow. In the meantime, thanks for your thoughts- very much appreciated.

Hey Dubai71 , well apparently the blood test is a part of the NT scan and collectively looking at the scan and the blood test they will be adble to deduce the chances of baby having future downs syndrome. They look at various factors like the age , the ultrasound and the blood test and then come up with the chance of you having a downs syndrome baby. Its a fairly new procedure i would say as i didnt have this last time for my DD. Aha- thanks. I thought it was just the scan.

Hey guys thought i would update that had my nuchal translucency test yesterday and was great. It was sooo nice to see though it was very quick and didnt take much time. They took the blood test but said results would take two weeks but keeping my fingers crossed. God seems like such a loonggg wait till the scan and then once it happens its over in a few minutes :( anyhow next meeting with doc is faar faar away 12th of july so thats a downer as wont get to see bubs for a whole six weeks. By the way she couldnt tell the *** just as yet but it was 144 beats/minute. Any old wives tale guesses based on heart rate ? Excellent news about your scan :) Excuse my ignorance, but can you tell me what the blood test you had is/for? Thanks

Hi Jane. Can't help on the PCOS but I have pretty severe endo. I had a lap at City Hospital last December and would say it's really nothing to worry about. As for fertility, I am guessing from your username that you're quite a bit younger than me (I'm 39) so that should stand you in good stead. I had to have IVF but don't know if that's because of the endo or unexplained infertility. If you do have to have IVF, it is of course not particularly pleasant but is not the end of the world and if to gets you to your goal of having children then it's worth it. There are 2 really good IVF practises in Dubai (Dr Fakih and DFGC). All the best.

Wow, that's fantastic Serendipity. Double the fun ;) How many cycles did it take you? This was our third cycle and I am now just over 8 weeks. Previously miscarried at 7 weeks so am desperate to get to the 12 week milestone when hopefully I'll be able to relax a little more. Some questions if I may: When did you come off all the drugs (I am still on the daily Cyclogest, Progyluton, Baby Aspirin and now also Innohep and Prednisolon, as well as twice weekly progesterone IM jabs)? Obviously I am happy to stay on all as long as necessary but am sure I am rattling when I walk and resembling a pin cushion. Also did you go to the Fetal Medicine Centre for your tests? If so, how did you deal with dissing Dr F for that part? Thanks! x

Walking away from debt is immoral and against the law, but so is :- 1) Employing anyone that you do not sponsor including maids and gardeners unless agency 2) Running a business from home without the legal documentation i.e hairdressing, jewely making, breeding animals etc 3) Even having an animal without regestering 4) Drinking and driving 5) If from the U.k collection child benifit while living here and the list goes on and on and on. The point I am making, its easy to break the law here and even visa runs mean you are not here leagally so dont judge cause I'm sure some of you who take the moral high ground are also guilty of one or more breaches of the U.A.E legal system. I don't think any of the points you mention above are "easy" or just little things you could do to break the law without possibly knowing you are breaking the law. 4 & 5, in particular, are immoral. Do people here on tax free salaries really claim child benefit from home????? Good Lord. edited by dubai71 on 29/05/2011

How... book an appointment. I am seeing Martine at Synergy on Al Wasl but know she gets booked far in advance, however, there is another lady who people on here recommend. Do a search for 'acupuncture' and you'll find her details. Where... think the other lady comes to your house. Time... best to speak with them. As it supports the cycle I am sure there is no such thing as "too late". Good luck.

Aussie Girl- I am also a Dr. Fakih patient and agree with what ivfuae said. You have done this before so you know but please bear in mind the number of times you will be going to the clinic, and the fact that sometimes you are going to be stressed to **** when you are going, before committing to a Sharjah or Al Ain clinic. Unless, of course, you happen to live in Sharjah or Al Ain... Good luck.

is it not possible for her to get round this some other way- e.g. getting a loan in the uk (from a bank or family) and using that to pay down the loan here? i just think it is really irresponsible to "do a runner" and should only be used as a genuine and absolute last resort. people not taking responsibility for their contractual obligations effects us all- banks raise the cost of borrowing and tighten their borrowing. in my opinion it is tantamount to theft- i appreciate you won't like that and it is, of course, only my opinion edited by dubai71 on 25/05/2011

BA I am having acupuncture with Martine at Synery on Al Wasl. Would really recommend it. Don't know when you're starting the next cycle but would recommend starting acupuncture ASAP and ideally before starting down regulation. If you want to try and have difficulty getting an appointment with Martine, there is another lady a lot of people on here recommend- Dr O'r I think. Try searching acupuncture and am sure her details will come up. In terms of hot drinks, I don't touch them either. What i did was instead of having drinks out of the fridge (my preference) I had them room temperature. Likewise let food from fridge come to room temperature first. Thanks for asking, after a little scare I am delighted to report all going well. Heard our baby's heart beat earlier- all strong and beautiful. Now 7 weeks and 2 days. Miscarried at 7 weeks previously (natural pregnancy before our 3 rounds of IVF) but am feeling cautiously optimistic and hoping that this is our time. Masses of baby dust to us both! x

Hey BA I found the latest (my 3rd) cycle a lot less stressful which I think helped. Of course I had my moments but because I understood the whole cycle a lot more we were able to laugh and joke a lot. I prayed hard to Saint Gerard Majella- I appreciate this may not be your thing. I did acupuncture through the whole cycle. Finally, I tried to limit cold drinks and foods and eat/drink nourishing food (sadly too much of it but oh well!). I also took the rest much like DC Diva did. Wishing you all the very best with it :)

Depends what age you both are and whether there are any health issues. I understand that 6 months- 1 year is pretty standard for TTC. If it were me I would speak to my doctor, they'll either say it's normal and if no luck in 6 months come back or action something.

I think if it was someone junior it might work but would very much depend on career progression opportunities. I started on less (and that was in the UK so, of course, taxed) but that was the going rate for starters then and you always knew it would go up as you progressed in your career.
