Cheaper than the UK. DH was looking at a Rolex and I think it worked out a good few pounds cheaper here than there, but that was last year. The one my BIL is looking at is GBP990 but the store in the UK will give him 10% discount.

My house - free :D. DS was never fussed on her either and I was seriously hacked off I'd been sucked in by the hype when I saw her in Carrefour just outside Lourdes over the summer for 6 euro! You're welcome to ours too if you want a back-up.

And - for the sake of an argument :D - another friend was taken to Rashid as he fell from a height and was injured. He had surgery there to repair the damage, and ended up having to have the surgery redone at the American. I've never been treated at Rashid so I can't say whether I'd like to be taken there or not, but I guess he'd say no :).

DC when was this?... A few years ago - I can't remember exactly when. But a friend was taken to hospital recently and asked to go to City, and the same happened with her. I think that was in March or April this year. As far as I know RTAs have always been taken to Rashid, as well as any medical situation that requires any police involvement. DH broke up a fight in a bar a couple of years ago and was injured, and we went to American as it was nearest. The staff there said they were happy to treat him but if he wanted to file a case against the guy who injured him, he'd have had to go to Rashid so he could get the necessary paperwork.

I was taken to hospital in an ambulance with an asthma attack and I was asked - or rather my ex-DH was asked - which hospital we wanted to go to. There was no mention of how I/the insurance would pay for the treatment once we got there. The ambulance took us to American without further questions.

Reflux sucks :(. My sister had a horrendous time with her DS because of it so you have my full sympathies! I'd agree with kiwi, though - try to work on the naps. I found DS at that age could only stay up for an hour, maybe an hour and a half after he got up and the better he napped in the morning, the happier he was throughout the day. He'd go down in the morning, then again after lunch, and then have a third nap late afternoon. It did restrict our movements during the day but I'd had such an awful time with him not sleeping and me having PND I really didn't care as long as he got his sleep :). He was so much happier once I'd sorted that out. I do think many of the popular books are entirely geared towards bottle-fed babies. Breastfed babies - the ones I've met, anyway - just don't seem to have the same routines or the same predictability as bottle-fed ones. Maybe because you don't know how much they're getting, maybe because there's more of a comfort aspect to it... I don't know. But I do believe demand-feeding is still appropriate at that age. DS naturally fell into more of a routine as he got older so hopefully your little one might do the same. Good luck! PS Also as kiwi says, at four months they should begin to develop habits with regard to sleep so you're looking at it at exactly the right time and you have more chance of avoiding some of the more common pitfalls that lead to sleepless nights (or so I believe, anyway).

DH gave ours to Spinneys once, at Meadows Village. They looked grumpy about it and told him to come back when it was quiet, but when he went back they did take them (after he pointed out that they asked him for change every time he went in there).

I do believe we had a minor miracle last night. I went to Springs first yesterday and planned to pop into Motor City on the way home if Spinneys at Springs didn't have the cookers. Of course they didn't, and as I was leaving the shop, a friend called to see if we wanted to meet up with her so we did that and were then too late to go to MC. I figured I'd pick up the cooker over the weekend. DH went out to MC to get takeaway about 8ish and I asked him to pop into Spinneys to get some dog food. He called about 20 minutes later and said, "That slow cooker you wanted, is it Kenwood? 199dhs?" I nearly fell over backwards. Normally when he goes shopping unsupervised he comes back with a pile of rubbish, like 27 mangoes or some random garden tool. Result! First meal will be tomorrow when I've checked out the Crock Pot Girls! :D

Have you had her checked for reflux? My nephew was the same - screamed unless he was upright and being held, and even then sometimes just carried on screaming - and it turned out, after many trips to the GP and eventually a reluctant referral to a paediatrician, that reflux was his problem.

I think sleeping around is disgusting, as is drinking so much alcohol that your rat-*****, mutton dressed as lamb with too much make-up or mini skirts with a belly hanging over the top and many other similar things.... * All of which are done by a consenting adult (or near enough). Just saying.

How about Trollbeads or Pandora so she can add to the chain or bracelet on special occasions? That way she has something to remind her of lots of special times. There's always a risk we'll lose important things. Doesn't mean we shouldn't have them to enjoy :).

What about that little stationery section in Debenhams at MOE, or in Borders? I think Borders has Paperchase but I'm not sure what the MOE one is. I have friends who always send the most chic, perfect cards for any occasion. Where they get their stashes from I don't know, but it does give me stationery envy. I'm always the one scouring Hallmark for whatever I can find on my way to the event!

I've raved about threading for ages but over the summer my nearest threader was a half-hour drive so I tried waxing and plucking myself. Jeez, I wish I'd done it sooner! SO many times I've spent ages growing my brows only for some thread-happy technician to whip them all out in seconds. Even when I've told them to leave them thicker. I still have sparse bits at the ends (from when I was a clueless teenager too) so I use Red Earth brow pencil to gently shade those bits in. And castor oil definitely works to help with regrowth.

I have a Mac and I do think it's superior to the PC we had before. I prefer it, anyway. But there are some seriously irritating things about it, like having to pay a shedload to get Office suite on there and so on. I don't have an iPhone, an iPod, an iPad or an iAnythingElse, though! And no stickers anywhere :D.

If you don't want to buy a cot just for this trip - and I'd say it probably isn't worth it when he'll grow out of it very quickly - you're more than welcome to a loan of ours. Glam? GLAM? Come round to my place any time before midday or any time after 3pm and you'll find me in my PJs, hair tied back, usually covered in whatever we had for breakfast or lunch :D. I know exactly what you mean, though - this place makes you feel underdressed if you don't look like you're going to the opera when you're standing at the meat counter in the supermarket. I got here a while ago when I was much younger and I hated it for three months. I was fully intending to leave at the six-month point when I didn't owe the company any money for bringing me over here. And... that was a long time ago. There are plenty of people who'll say hi then go back to their conversations like you don't exist. They suck. But as aroha says, in the end you'll be able to laugh at them (and do take her up on the offer - I can guarantee she is as normal as they come!). Just remember the glam ones are probably the ones who'd be in their full make-up and gladrags to do the school run at home so nobody knows what they're really like. That's the beauty of this place for these types - nobody knows where you came from!

There are two going cheap on Dubizzle at the moment. I'd say they're a great idea, but only if your baby doesn't stand up - DS tipped his over several times :D. I should also mention that you can't put the 'mattress' bit in the washing machine, which is a bit annoying if you have a dribbler or they're sick. I think you can get sheets to put on them, though.

This really, really winds me up. Companies here take absolutely no responsibility for training their staff and making sure they're doing what they're supposed to be doing and then they take it out on the staff themselves?! I hate the way we're all afraid to complain in case the worker in question is fined/fired/shot at dawn. It sucks.
