I checked the Screampoint reports on RERA and the latest says 23% complete. If I remember rightly, the last one done before that said 21% complete. So, technically, I guess they can't say no work has been done! :\: Thinking about it, I wonder if they do that so they don't have to cancel the project and go through all the fuss of refunding/not refunding/admitting they've spent the cash? I know Screampoint are supposed to be independent but I don't think that word means much here.

Last update on there was that two workmen were spotted on site way back last year! Hmmm. I think you might be right. Ho-hum, we live and learn. Hope you get a resolution with yours.

No, thankfully, so worst case scenario we could terminate and wait forever for the cash - albeit a far smaller sum than originally invested - although right now we're just hoping and praying it's cancelled. Screampoint say it's 23% complete but DH looked this morning and saw all the cranes have been taken down. Mentally I've written it off (which is hugely painful, although the amount is equal in value to a profit we made previously so I'm trying to be philosophical), but it would be a nice little surprise if they cancelled as long as they haven't blown the cash!

We tried to renegociate but have been offered 13 % on the purchase price. And we bought it at the peak. The market price is 50% cheaper ... what if we refuse to take the property ? I would check the terms and conditions of your contract. Apparently we can terminate, but will forfeit a set amount in line with construction progress. You can check construction progress on the Screampoint reports on the RERA site. ETA: I think this might have something to do with whether you have a mortgage on the property or not. If you do, I doubt you'd be able to refuse to take it. <em>edited by DubaiCat on 08/05/2011</em>

Good point. So have they asked you to sign a new contract with the new terms and conditions? And can you do anything about it because they're asking you for totally different payment terms? That sucks :(.

I went to RERA recently and a lady there told me you can ask for details of the escrow account for the property at the relevant bank - as long as the property is registered in your name - so you should be able to see if the cash has indeed been spent. According to RERA, the developer is only allowed to withdraw funds in line with a set construction schedule. Whether this is a) the truth; b) possible; and c) worthwhile, I don't know, but it might be a start? RERA won't provide legal advice, though. That part I'm sure of as I went to the legal department with a contract and they looked utterly dumbfounded that someone was actually asking them to clarify the law of their country in relation to the area their department looked after. Mind you, it could all be different with a different person on a different day.

There is most definitely no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to the fiddly, irritating, frustrating process of trying to get food into a LO's mouth! And besides, nothing sounds stupid to me - I had to get a friend over to give me lessons on how to prepare bottles of formula when I stopped BF :D. All the cereals I used had instructions on the side for getting the right consistency. I usually ended up adding a little milk and stirring, then adding more, then more, then thinking it was too thick and adding more, then realising it was too watery and adding more powder. So I always ended up with a huge pot, from which he ate about four spoons. If you're making it with formula, make up your formula as normal then add as if it were EBM. I'd go for a little at a time and see how it works out. <em>edited by DubaiCat on 08/05/2011</em>

The books totally confused me, however I joined online and its been great. I follow the Extra Easy program which is red and green days mixed. I open my food dairy each day and add all the things I will be eating and it lets you see if your eating too much or had too many syns. Takes the pain out of it totally. I have lost 8 pounds this week (my first week on it). I also bought the book 100 extra easy days £3.50, it gives 100 days of menus so you do not have to think what to eat. I am diabetic although no insulin issues really and I find it is keeping my sugar levels great. You have potatos, but you can have as many or few as you like, or you could choose something else instead as all veg is free food. edited by imanesmama on 08/05/2011 8 pounds in a week? That sounds OK to me! Can I join online from here? And where can I get that book from? I know it sounds ridiculously lazy but I'm running around after a toddler and pregnant so I need it to be as easy as possible. I want to be slim with no effort, in other words! :D

I want to do Slimming World but I read the book and it looked like such hard work :(, and I have the odd insulin issue so I'm not sure eating a shedload of potatoes will work for me! I am trying really hard to get off my backside and go make a stir-fry with sauce from the jar. My mother would be horrified.

DubaiCat - we should have learnt by now! I know. I said when I first found out 'I have no clue how that happened' and my sister said I really needed to go over my school biology books. Do you find you get any spots when you're using it? The skin under my eyes looks quite dry and the last time I had a facial the therapist told me my skin was really dehydrated, but I do find it something's too rich I tend to get spots :(.

There was a big hoo-ha in the UK recently about Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter. Yes, seriously. Apparently it's the best thing since sliced bread and makes your skin look years younger. I have yet to get my 32-year-old face over to Waitrose to buy some, so I still look 32, but if I do ever get there and start getting asked for ID I'll let you know. I'm confused...you failed how? by prediciting the wrong due date or by gettin busy when you werent supposed to?? ;) Anyhow, Due Dec.9th...awaiting next US.....its weird waiting and thinking, "I guess everything is ok". I'm still preggo...but no belly in sight. FYI - this is my first. Well I failed in that I - unbelievably naively - thought it simply wouldn't happen, as it took us years to have DS1 and let's just say this one was the next best thing to an immaculate conception.

The price difference for us isn't almost double, or I'd just be telling Mum we were on EK and booking BA! :D We're doing a bit of shuffling so we can book UK-DXB-UK instead of originating here, as we have our summer flights booked by DH's work already. Yes, they do forget to turn the seatbelt sign off sometimes!

I read that BA were threatening strikes over Easter and they do seem to do it at peak times, so it probably wouldn't be a good idea as we're going beginning of June and it's half term :(. Hey-ho.

First time round at five weeks and had head down loo until 15 weeks. This time, I've had nausea and queasiness but it's gone now (I'm 11 weeks) and only barfed three times. Congratulations on your BFP! And fingers firmly crossed for you x

When I was diagnosed with PND I did a fair bit of reading on possible causes and it seems one of the main reasons for it is sleep deprivation. Or, if it's not a direct cause, it certainly makes it far worse. Hopefully you'll soon feel better and be able to cope better with the situation - it's horrible when you have so little sleep and everything seems so, so much worse. Perhaps just try a visit with Cecile to see if she has any other suggestions. Or, try another opinion from a different paediatrician. Try anything and everything you can! I so hope you feel better soon and get baby sorted.

I just priced them all up to finally sort out our trip home in a few weeks. BA was the cheapest with suitable flight times, albeit Heathrow instead of Birmingham. All sorted. Then Mum sent me a text; 'Think you should fly with EK as if there are any terrorist attacks they'll be on BA or American'. So, for all the complaining, looks like EK will be getting our hard-earned cash this time. They better take my teeny tiny stroller on board! :D <em>edited by DubaiCat on 06/05/2011</em>

We'll see what the paed and ENT have to say and then we're off back home for a couple of weeks, so perhaps I'll see if we can get an appointment with a specialist there to see if their opinion differs. Lovely, thanks. I just spoke to my sister and she said she was given Gaviscon, infant Z-something and some drops to make his tummy produce less acid. She says it made very little difference at first, until he started on solids, and he grew out of it at 7 months. Probably not much help to you :(. I'm going to see if I can find a non-soy milk later - I'll post if I do to see if another type of milk might help you.

I'm not trawling all the way back through the thread to see if this has already been mentioned but, having just got back from Safa Park, what Dubai (or the ladies of Dubai) really needs is a shop that sells good sports bras in a full range of sizes! If you could set up a stall by the park you'd make a killing - or at least you should. If they could be reasonably priced, that would be a major bonus and no doubt add to turnover! Oh yes! I went to Bendon to get one for my sister when she visited. I asked the lady to show me the sports bras then I had to call my sister for her size. The lady stood and watched me make the call and when I hung up, I asked her for a 38F. Her eyebrows shot up and she said, "Oh no, ma'am, we only have A cup!".

Ta. I think it was 350dhs for the one session we had and DH nearly choked at that, so if we could get it as a referral that'd be great! He was crawling across my friend's hall floor today and she was calling him, and he either completely ignored her or couldn't hear her. I'd like to think it was just part of the attitude he's recently developed but I'm not sure :(.

I'm afraid I don't have any advice and I'm sorry to post a question when you're clearly in need of help and not questions, but where do you get lactose-free Aptamil from? DS had rotavirus earlier this year and has had temporary lactose intolerance since, and it doesn't seem to be resolving now he's back on normal Aptamil so I'd like to try lactose-free again. I hope you manage to get something sorted soon. Perhaps you need another trip to the doctor? Or even try seeing Cecile de Scally. She helped us enormously with sleep issues and may have some suggestions for you to try regarding diet. Actually, how long did you try the reflux meds for? My nephew had terrible reflux till he was 7 months old and screamed pretty much all day and night, and my sister was sure the meds didn't work, but it ended up taking a good month - if not more - before they actually made any difference :(.
