Yes, and also, "today today". Only one "today" means more probably tomorrow or after a couple of days. Did anyone mention 'today itself'?

I thought level 1 yesterday would be a cakewalk :D after finishing the first Shred but seriously, I thought I was going to die too! The lunges killed my knees - I guess each level works the muscles in a slightly different way so it hurts differently too ;). DS was up at 5.30 this morning. Must drum up enough motivation to Shred even when shattered!

I searched before I posted and came up with nothing. So I searched google, and got a thread with directions. I guess searching 'Emirates ID Barsha' isn't good enough to find a thread entitled 'Emirates ID place in Barsha' :\:. As I read it, I need to go along the road between the Greens and Al Khail, past the racing club, and take right just before the lights. Then do the first U-turn and it'll be somewhere on the right as I go back down towards SZR. Does that sound about right?

...drumroll please...... :D Day 10 level 3 done so if my maths is up to scratch, that makes it a full house! Back at it again tomorrow for Shred, The Sequel. I'm still not going to measure yet as I thought I was getting my period but it hasn't shown up properly yet and I'm ridiculously bloated. I'm not having my glory ruined by water retention!

DC - you're almost done with 30 days - that's AMAZING!! Is this the first 30 day shred you're doing or are you a 'regular' like CT? edited by GreenQueen on 15/03/2011 This is my first Shred, I was so nearly done with my 30 days and wham! I got a cold. Not just any cold - I think it might be man-flu. I don't know whether to feel more sorry for myself that I feel so awful or that I haven't finished my Shred :(. Hopefully tomorrow will be better day and Friday can be my last. Then I'm going to start all over again and my sister's going to join in. I wonder if I could do level 1 with her in the morning and then level 3 by myself in the evening? Now that would be hardcore!

I think we have this one. It's definitely BT, anyway! Our only complaint is that the battery runs down pretty quickly but we are forever guilty of leaving it on the base and apparently that's what does it. I'm going home on the 26th, back on April 7th - if you want to order one and have it delivered to Mum's I'm happy to bring it back for you.

Are you watching what you eat DC or would yu put your weight loss completely down the Shredding???? I'm [i'>trying[/i'> to eat low-GI, which always works for weight maintenance for me (she says, sneaking another piece of Whole Nut into the chops :D). I lost a load of weight doing low-GI and Hypoxi a few years ago so before I got pregnant, if my jeans were tight, I just got a whole lot stricter with the low-GI. Now, I think it's a combination of the two but I'm definitely building a fair amount of muscle so I'm not sure what the scales will say on Thursday (the end of my 30 days). I plan to measure myself too so I'll let you know!

I've just read the piece now. One of her children has Down's. She sent recommendations for au pairs to care for them when her husband was out of town flying - which, I'd imagine, would be quite frequently as an airline pilot. How she can attempt to justify her actions is beyond me.

I probably already mentioned this but DS has just woken up so have to type fast :D. We reduced the amount he was getting at his 4am feed - Cecile said by 5mls every 5 days, but DH dropped the bottle one night so it was reduced by 30ml or something and he barely noticed. So the next night I made 30ml less and within a few days he stopped waking up.

We did a different method which was easier for us - I personally couldn't leave DS crying and just shut the door. Instead, we sat with him and patted him and tried to soothe him without picking him up while he tried to get to sleep. The first night he cried on and off for an hour and a half, with peaceful intervals when he calmed down, and the second night barely 20 minutes. The third night he went straight to sleep. Now he goes to sleep with no fuss every night and for most daytime naps. Occasionally he fights his pre-dinner nap, but not very often. We did all this with the help of Cecile De Scally and I found it invaluable having her support. ETA: DS was 7 months when we did this. edited by DubaiCat on 14/03/2011

Kicked self up backside and did day 8 level 3. It was HARD, though. I woke up this morning feeling like roadkill - sore throat, sore neck, sore head - so I really couldn't be bothered to do anything but sleep or lounge around. I just had to read down the thread to see what day I'm on. I was convinced today was day 7 and the 30 days was up on Thursday, but it seems I did day 7 yesterday... :\:.

I know some people my age who are wasting their lives being miserable and never taking a chance. I know some 50- and 60-somethings who are the life and soul of the party and make the most of every day. Seriously, I LOVE being in my 30s. I was out with a friend just before I got pregnant and we were looking around us at a bar filled with late-teens early-20s girls, all dressed up to the nines, looking fantastic. Almost every single one of them looked nervous, out of place, not comfortable with themselves. While we envied them their super-sleek pins without a hint of cellulite, we didn't envy them that awkwardness. We both agreed we just feel so much more 'at home' with ourselves these days and that's worth a bit of cellulite or a droop here and there! Have a fabulous birthday. ETA: For my 30th we had a 'You know you're a child of the 80's when...' party. DH was a Ghostbuster and I was one of the twins from Sweet Valley High. You don't actually have to grow up when you hit 30, you know! :D edited by DubaiCat on 14/03/2011

A close friend of mine was left by her mum when she was nine and her brother seven. Her mum had moved countries with my friend's dad, and then left him - and her children - to move home for a man she was with back in her home country before she was married. After a couple of years my friend came to live with her mum but didn't get on with her new husband so went back home to live with her dad. She's the same age as me and is utterly screwed up now. She's a hypochondriac, has serious abandonment issues and is totally insecure. I am good friends with her mum now but I will never, ever understand how she could have left her children for a man.

I noticed today on my Citibank credit card statement they'd charged me a late payment fee. My payment was due on March 1, and I made payment on March 1 at one of the machines. It died halfway through me making the payment, so I called straight away and notified them in case of any problems. Turns out the payment went in fine. I called them today to complain about the charge. The guy spends ten minutes tapping away while I wait. Then he says he's sent a request to the 'concerned department' to reverse this charge. OK, I say, thanks. Then he says, "They need to approve it." I ask why it needs to be approved, when I made payment in time and they have this on their records. He tells me it has to be approved but they usually approve it. I ask why it wouldn't be approved when I made payment in time. He tells me I've been charged late payment fees before (yeah, when I was abroad!) so they might not reverse it because of this. I ask him how they can refuse to reverse a wrongly-charged late payment fee when payment was made in time because of late payment fees previously charged (and paid). He doesn't seem to get why I'm confused that you can be charged a late payment fee not for the month in question, but based on previous account history. Funnily enough, no answer forthcoming. Eventually he says, "Uh..... they will approve it."

I wonder if it's something in the exercises? Or perhaps something to do with the fact that a) I didn't exercise one little bit during my pregnancy and b) all I've done since I had DS is a few gentle bike rides! Don't feel too guilty it took me 9 years to get of my fat ar$e and start losing weight and exercising :\: I only ever moved as it was a necessary evil if I wanted to lose or maintain my weight. It has only been since my mid life crisis that I have started to love exercise. I am a bit worried that the month I have to have off after surgery this Wednesday but I know I have the Thread of Pain and Shred Heads to get me back to it when I get the all clear. Think of it as a well-earned rest. Can you do just upper body moves?

After having twins, in a foreign country, no friends or family, she didn't call me for 2 weeks after the birth. Mine didn't call me at all after DS was born. Still didn't call me when she wanted to arrange a trip to my Mum's to meet him - she emailed DH and got him to ask me to ask my Mum if it was OK if she came. Then invited SIL without asking. And still didn't call me. And got SIL to email me to ask if I could pick them up from the airport.

My list of DON'T DOs starts with not redorating the tables at my sons wedding with Hawaiian tat just because of having been there. It would not be a "nice surprise". OMG, that's unbelievable! But not something I'd have to worry about. It comes under 'thinking of someone else' - however misguided and utterly ludicrous! - and that's something she simply doesn't have a clue about.

Used to think she was irritating, now after 3 years of marriage and 8 years together I've realised that my MIL is a BAD WORD of the highest order. Suspect she is trying to plant mines under our relationship so try very hard to rise above her passive aggressive nonsense, Now, as the mother of a son, I have a very long list of DON'T DOs when it comes to one day being a MIL. I am going to be the world's best MIL :D. Starting with having some manners and hospitality skills.

If you want to go somewhere close to home, you can have all your minor check-up appointments at the Meadows clinic then just use the American for your major check-ups and birth. A friend of mine did this and was very happy with both the ob/gyn at Meadows (I think Dr Munira?) and Dr Braithwaite at the American.

I squeezed back into my pre-bump skinny jeans eight weeks post-birth and then didn't shift anything till seven months. I'm now doing the 30-Day Shred and finally, finally, it's coming off and I'm toning up. This Thursday is my last day of the 30 days so I'll measure myself and let you know how I've done! I know I've lost weight, though, as I can easily see it and DH has noticed too. It's been really hard. I think I convinced myself it would all drop off - I was BFing till 7 months - but it didn't and I was too lazy to do anything about it. Now I'm exercising every day (minus a few weekend days!) I feel so much better that I'm actually doing something about it. And on that note... it's Shred time.

I don't think I've seen the Pebble on there but it's worth checking often as so many new items are added each day. Are you sure it's not the Pearl you're thinking of, though? I have the Maxi Cosi catalogue here and it doesn't say anything about the Pebble having more than one recline position. Thanks - I checked Rentacrib and it's 228dhs for 11 days including delivery service, so I thought I might just see if I can find one to buy any cheaper so we can take it home and use it for holidays with DS. If not I'll definitely be renting from them, though.
