Just make sure you pick an agency that does property management as well as leasing, if you want to go down this route, as many just literally do the contract and that's the end of that. Offhand I think The Specialists do (or did) property management as well as leasing.

He just loves anything with that noise! Sandals, the velcro on the inside of the travel cot he's currently sleeping in, the velcro on the back of his bib... I wanted to find something we could take out and about with us without getting funny looks for having a sandal attached to his bumper bar :D.

Hi! And welcome :). I worked in rentals for a while a few years ago when I was in between jobs. The market will be totally different now, so I probably can't help you with that one, but the job's probably pretty much the same. You end up trying to convince landlords that no, nobody's going to pay an extra 20k for their property just because it's bigger/better/brighter/whatever and that letting it go for 10k under the asking price is actually not as bad as it sounds because it won't sit empty losing you 15k a month, and trying to convince tenants that no, the landlord's not going to fit a new kitchen/throw in a maintenance contract/take 12 cheques because they think he should. It's a battle! I was probably rubbish at the job because I was happier sorting landscaping, doing DEWA connections and buying fridges than I was with all the sales and negotiating stuff, so I ended up overworking myself for b*gger all. If it's commission only you'd need to speak to someone who's actually doing the job now to make sure it's worth your time. Otherwise, it could well be a lot of running around for little return. I'd second charting - I found it invaluable when we were TTC. We tried for a while and it wasn't till I started charting that I actually felt I knew enough about my cycle to be confident we were giving it our best shot. I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler and joined www.fertilityfriend.com. Both great resources.

I cant watch horror movies, they terrify me. Me too and I don't watch them. I thought Wolf Creek was a true story, so I thought it couldn't be that bad as the characters had escaped to tell their story. My mistake!

Hello! We see Cecile de Scally. It was 350dhs for the first session and follow-ups are 250dhs for an hour or 100dhs for just a short chat. She's always on the end of the phone if you need her too. I haven't tried claiming it on the insurance but I think AussiePup may have managed it successfully - DH is certainly going to try! Hope you get the issue resolved. We were on a roll and DS slept through two nights in a row, then he had jabs, an allergic reaction and an ear infection so we're a bit all over the place again! Fingers crossed it's just a blip, though (or I'll end up being sectioned). ETA: We saw a huge improvement after just one session. <em>edited by DubaiCat on 26/01/2011</em>

I read a book called From My Sisters' Lips by Naimah B. Robert and she refers to conversion as reversion, as Muslims believe we are all born Muslim and those who convert are actually reverting to their birth religion. Is this right? Well, pre-pregnancy I definitely wasn't obese but nowadays I may fall into the 'slightly overweight' category! Thanks, BFC and Glitter. I'd heard conflicting stories about the chances of recurrence and I didn't enjoy my pregnancy in the slightest, so thinking I might get PE again was not encouraging me to go for it again at all. <em>edited by DubaiCat on 25/01/2011</em>

Seven months. I was reluctant to move him but DH moved the cot while I was in the UK and that was that! I have to say he sleeps better in his own room, though. He's back in with us while Dad's here and we've had to put him in a travel cot in the closet so we don't disturb him :D.

I forgot to add his dreamfeed at 11pm :). Be firm with relatives and friends if you think what they're doing will mess up his routine further. I wish I had been! And as for the co-sleeping, if you really don't want to do that, look for a Samsonite bubble cot. I just borrowed one from a friend for while my dad is here and it's brilliant - less than 3kg and pops up into a decent-sized cot. I have a Bumbo if you want to borrow that to use as a high-chair while you're away.

If you do take the cat to a vet and they scan for a chip, they may be able to tell you only the number and not owner's details if the cat wasn't registered with them. If so, try calling the municipality vet with the number tomorrow as they may be able to give you the owner's details if the cat was registered with them. I know it's sometimes impossible to avoid a cat that's run into the road, but I seem to be seeing loads of dead ones in the road at the moment :(.

DS is now almost eight months so I'm not sure if this will help you, but here's what we're currently doing. We didn't have much of a routine before and he was a terrible sleeper, both at night and in the daytime. While timings of our day vary depending on when he gets up, this is what we do in order; Wake up and have breakfast - cereal, yoghurt and fruit Breastfeed Morning nap Snack - rusk and/or fruit Lunch - something like chicken casserole followed by yoghurt and/or fruit Breastfeed if he's interested Lunchtime nap Snack - rusk and/or fruit Pre-dinner nap (with breastfeed beforehand if he really wants it but I try to avoid it) Dinner - something like chicken casserole followed by yoghurt and/or fruit Bath Breastfeed Bed We try to avoid letting him stay awake longer than two hours, but sometimes he's fine with it so awake times are stretched a little. Pre-dinner naps don't always happen and if they do, are sometimes super short. I'm also planning to stop breastfeeding soon so I will be replacing breastfeeds with formula feeds one by one. I know what you mean about feeling lost. I lost all my confidence a little while ago, as DS was such a poor sleeper and I was exhausted, so we went to see Cecile and we are now back on track. FWIW, we had DS's six-month vaccinations today and I checked with our doctor at home if being this late was a problem. She said no, it's fine.

I have no idea how much Conrad or Six Senses would be but we went to Anantara and if we won the lottery, we'd live there a few months a year! It's my favourite place on the planet. There are two islands to choose from (unless you have won the lottery, in which case you'd be able to consider the third too) and one is more reasonable than the other. I am very jealous you're going to the Maldives! Have a wonderful time.

I'm curious. Would anyone ask a fellow guest at a dinner party what they made a month/year? I didn't realise we were having a dinner party? In that case... "Waiter, my glass needs refilled!" LOL :D That's why I asked. I find it interesting that people wouldn't sit at a dinner table and ask someone how much they earned, but it's OK on here. I know it's anonymous (to a certain degree, anyway) so posters probably wear their brave knickers more than they would in person, but still... maybe I'm just old-fashioned in that respect. Is it five o'clock anywhere yet?!

I think saying it's impossible for a new mother to harm her baby in bed is irresponsible and incorrect, sadly. I know we do wake up at the slightest noise, but extended sleep deprivation and severe exhaustion could lead to an accident. That said, I do agree that sometimes you get more rest with baby in the bed as you can just pop a boob out and feed them!

Well said, shellly - everybody's different and let's give pregnant women enough credit that they can read the list and make up their own minds ;). FWIW, I wish I'd bought a Moses basket. Co-sleeping is actively discouraged in some countries because of risks; we did it sometimes but not always, and a Moses basket would have come in handy. If it works for you, great, but don't discount others' choices and opinions. My electric breast pump was incredibly handy when I was too tired to do much but lie there and let it do its job, and the steriliser was invaluable. Bottles were handy to let DH take over some feeds with expressed milk. See, everyone has different experiences of what's useful and what's not. When I asked what I needed to buy before DS was born, I found it really helpful to see a list then see what others considered useful. If you are on a budget (as we were), maybe you don't want to see all the fancy-dancy things you could have bought but then again, you can always look at alternatives. <em>edited by DubaiCat on 22/01/2011</em>

If their website says you're allowed to fly until the end of the 36th week and you have the appropriate certificate, then (going by what procedures used to be when I was crew with Emirates) they'd have to have you assessed by the airport medical staff if they wanted to refuse to take you. I would call and ask them, just to be on the safe side.
