well Bella maybe then I just am!. So there are people out there like me who don't like receiving old clothes like that. I said the exact same thing to the person who sent me " Thats very sweet of you but being over excited about the baby I have overstocked" The suitcase still came smelling bad and I'm not going to pass it on until I get it washed and cleaned and smelling nice because I want the person(somebody who needs them) to feel nice and not humiliated. Oh you need to get over yourself Love and go worry about some real problems..... Rather than acting like a right eijit and broadcasting nonsense on EW.... Say nothing and pass it on to a more grateful person / organisation.... So many people in need in Syria and the world over.

My best friend and 13 year old daughter are coming out in April. This will be their 3rd visit, so we've done all the usual things, burj Khalifa, desert safari, souks, karama etc. she even did the tandem sky jump - the only thing we haven't done which we will is the Grand Mosque....does anyone have any ideas/suggestions of some "different" things we could do. many thanks.

AKKU - what do you think of it. We are moving there at the end of the month. Are there many children there, have you had any problems so far with the house - all I can see are bills and bills adding up for electrical, plumbing, tv, landscaping, new kitchen etc. thanks in advance

Anyone living there - what's your thoughts please. DD at DESS so thinking it might be a trek - is there a shortcut over to motor city or does all traffic have to leave via bypass road - are there any children about. Many thanks. edited by Duracell5 on 23/11/2013

@chilli chai - can I ask your reasons for thinking it would be difficult to win - our landlord gave us 12 months notice, sent by registered mail stating that he wants to move in and also, we signed a non-renewable contract..... However as per the law and amendments to it of 2008...... If he or his next of kin does not move in - he cannot let it for 2 years and if he does so, we are entitled to compensation..... Unfortunately we have to move out to see if that is the case...... And if it is I will raise a case against him - I am sick to death of these bully boy tactics..... I believe landlords are entitled to a reasonable yearly increase of rent.... But until they are asked to put their hands in their own pocket to get a new tenant, nothing will change. If they had to pay agents fees every time a new tenant leased their property, I would almost guarantee they wouldn't be so keen to move people on....... Dubai really needs to address this issue rather than spending money setting up new rent committee agencies etc,

last year we got 12 month notice sent via registered mail (correct avenue) informing us the landlord wanted to move in. We signed a non-renewable contract. We are due to move out end January so prior to the 90 day, we sent an email asking if he still intended to move in and if not, we would like to renew. He replied saying he still wants to move in...... Fair enough. Thanks Geordie expat. Yes I am set up for having to move initially as he has done it all correctly. I'm just interested in wanting to know if we have any recourse if he doesn't move in. Very easy to find out as we have good friends and neighbours who are on alert..... Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be black and white rules set out so I guess it may come down to personal choice of whether we feel strongly enough to pursue it..... Anyone had any similar experiences. Thanks. I would think that because he has given you one of the correct reasons for terminating your contract, you will have to vacate. Not sure how you will be able to check up and see if he does actually move in himself and if he doesn't, and moves another tennant in, I would hope that there is some way you can take it to the rent committee for compensation.

I have since read (again not sure if it's actual fact) that the rent committe don't recognise non-renewable contracts, therefore my question is - if he then moves a new tenant in, can we still take him to the rent committee for compensation..... Or is it a losing battle. many thanks.
