Wash my hair once every 10 days as my hair stays non greasy and for some reason hair fall has reduced drastically. Condition with diluted ACV rinse. <em>edited by ecochic on 28/05/2013</em>

Also depends on personal consumption based on how many people live in the home. Housing fee is 5% of your annual rent which varies from flat to flat, so all depends what your paying.

One more attempt before going to Dragon Mart. Do you know where I can get metal mesh similar to the one in below link in Satwa or Al Quoz http://www.google.ae/imgres?q=metal+mesh&start=109&um=1&sa=N&rls=com.microsoft:en-US:IE-SearchBox&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=572&tbm=isch&tbnid=67zwMzLD0uX6qM:&imgrefurl=http://depositphotos.com/4920883/stock-photo-Metal-mesh.html&docid=Zjmue1sERVHXFM&imgurl=http://static5.depositphotos.com/1003549/492/i/950/depositphotos_4920883-Metal-mesh.jpg&w=1024&h=768&ei=fVePUYSOJoKHrAe_04G4Ag&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=843&vpy=186&dur=1231&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=155&ty=142&page=5&tbnh=141&tbnw=188&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:100,i:49 I need 3, 50 m x 2,00m the 3, 50 can be split into smaller pieces It's called a "chain link fence". We got ours delivered home (dubai) from a warehouse in Abu dhabi. Cash on delivery. DH said it's about AED 120/- per meter (depends on the height). We picked up alot (huge roll) from these guys because we are building an outdoor (attached to the main house) cat enclosure. Contact number is 04-2688908. PS: pretty sure I've seen it sold at garden center as well as ACE but could be more expensive. <em>edited by ecochic on 28/05/2013</em>

This seems like another tactic to make sure the tenant does not renew their lease. Well, major maintenance is covered by the LL which would include labor and parts. To my understanding, anything that cost above aed 500/- would be liable on the LL. Also things like water pumps which cost less then 500/- is also paid by the LL as in the end it's wear and tear of his property. Yes, you can go to RERA as you do have a case and lodge a complaint to recover your money but be prepared that the following year is going to get difficult with the LL so better start looking.

try brushing your teach with bicarb of soda. just dip your brush in the powder and use as you would toothpaste. edited by Splinters on 08/05/2013 Yes, I agree with Bicarb, also you can mix bicarb and salt for an even better reaction. Completely agree with bicarb soda. Ive been brushing my teeth with a mix of half bicarb and half turmeric powder for over a year now. Teeth are looking whiter then usual and I had lots of caffeine stains but now reduced. I also do oil pulling using coconut oil and a apple cider vinegar rinse in the night for a silky feel on the teeth.

Lynett, What I do not understand is why did you choose to have a child with a man like this knowing well he was not interested in you? Well its done and now you need to look after yourself and the baby. Questions you need to ask yourself are, do you really want your child to grow up in an environment like this? Do you want to continue feeling neglected and trampled upon? Would you like your kid to look at the father and become like him? Thousands of single moms n dads out there who are doing a wonderful job. Yes it would mean you going back to work, but hey, you will regain all self respect and esteem as your child would be blooming by their moms success. End of the day we all can only advice you but you need to make a decision for yourself. Life ain't a fairy tale.... Sometimes we need to face the challenges to become a stronger person.

With all due respect not all real estate agents are greedy .... Landlords decide what rent they want and yes they are asking ridiculous prices again but it doesn't matter what we say they want the money !!! Villas sit empty because of LL greed .. Yes there are agents out there that are pushy and only want their commission and encourage the LL's but we are not all like that ok ... Im not ... I've yet to find one agent who is not causing the prices to rise. 99.9% of the time, every agent quotes 30% higher than the market rate. Just come to know that the wonderful rera rental calculated data comes from the agents itself and not by actual renters hence the crazy inflated rates. While on the other hand, I've met many landlords during my home searches who only have bad things to say of agents as these agents have caused huge losses by keeping an absurd rate thus the property is empty for months. The greed is not from the LL but by the unethical agents who work mainly for commission.

Turmeric does stain by itself. When mixed with flour (gram flour) there is no stain but if you do use a plain turmeric mask, then after washing it off, just wipe the entire face with lemon juice. Lemon juice is great for the skin and removes the stain.

Gram Flour is really good with tightening pores along with egg whites. Personally I cannot take the smell of egg on my face :) so I use a mix of 1 tsp gram flour, 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tbs honey and apply on my face. Let it sit for about 20 mins or until it's dry. I use a cold wash cloth ot wipe it off or just wash it off in the shower. My mum and grand ma have been using this since forever and now me. Works very well as long as you do it periodically.

Any trainer who uses caesar milan's methods are outdated trainers. Positive reinforcement trainers do not follow such methods. Positive reinforcement is a Scientific backed training methodology which does not harm nor hurt the dog in any way and increases the bond with the handler and his dog. This training method is so successful that they are using it on various other animals. Trainers who are excellent are Michelle @ Paws pet planet, Laura @ Positive paws and Jo who can be contacted via positive paws. All 3 of them always believe that handlers need the most training as dogs are easy but we always lose out on patience, persistance and consistency.

It's not about western or asian, neither is it about educated or uneducated. In reality, it's the morals and values a child is brought up by. Here, irrespective, emirati or expat, the parents have not done a great job raising their hoodlum children who are doing such evil acts to innocent creatures. Such parents need reprimanding and honestly those kids are better off if taken out of their families. I don't even want to imagine what they could become when they are adults... scary. Any tree if planted too close to water pipes or walls will cause problems. Always plant trees a minimum of 3 to 4 feet away from such structures. Flame of the forest and Neem are good for this climate. Flame takes about 2 years to grow big and shady while Neem takes about 5 years. Both these trees need less water so once a week in summers is good. Once either of these are planted, do not fertilize nor over water. Both can loose all leaves when newly planted but give it 2 months to adjust to new soil and then will pick up. Go to warsan and pick them up as they are real cheap there plus they also do deliver and you can really bargain a huge bit off the actual price.

Ecochic - what a great idea!!!! Thanks for the tip. I am calling the man to spray when I see lots of bird feeing on my lawn - from now I shall make my own spray - I have Neem trees in my front garden. The benefits of neem are never ending :) you get this really nice device from dubai garden center where you can put the neem extract (concentrate) into it and the other end is connected to your garden hose. It dilutes automatically, you just have to keep refilling it as and when you see the colour is white. Do not spray during the morning but do this in evening sun (4PM) as it gets absorbed into the ground and the roots absorb it too. Winters you can do it in the mornings without any problems. Water normally the next day and repeat this every week till you've noticed the population decrease. Once a month after all the bugs and wasps are gone, do this every month as a preventive measure.

It's not just about one particular breed. In general, people buy cute puppies and then once the cuteness phase is over, the dumping phase begins.... Such people make me ashamed of the so called superior beings we call our selves... While I do know a few people who have bought huskies here in dubai but then again, these are people who devote lots of time and money towards keeping these beautiful animals. They all live in independent villas with massive gardens and huge indoor areas where the dog gets to exercise and play even in summers and they get groomed everyday as thats one reason why people give them up too.... Must say, the huskies that I've met are not stubborn or as the OP mentioned. Guess it's all about the handler and training methods. People say Saluki's are a nightmare to train, having seen first hand how DH has worked with many of them, they seem smart and eager to learn, just need to figure what motivates them.

They are called May / june bugs. The larvae is under the soil which feeds on roots (lawn and plant). They love it when soil is dry so always keep the soil damp. Wasps and birds tend to feed on the larva ,which helps a lot too but wasps can get nasty. You could call DM to come and spray (lethal chemical so lock your kids and pets away for 48 hours) or you can use Neem oil (dubai garden center) and spray your garden on a weekly basis. Neem oil will not kill immediately but affects these pests hormonally causing it to stop reproducing and then stop eating which in the long run just irradiates the problem. Since I have neem trees growing, I use the leaves, pop them in the mixer, grind, then steep them for 24 hours in a dark place, strain and use the water (diluted, half and half) as a pesticides. The leftovers in the strainer too are used as a mulch which plants absorb and continue to repel unwanted pests. Neem is non toxic to bees, animals, birds, humans and many others beneficial for plant life. We consume all produce from the garden sprayed with this natural pesticide and our dogs too play in the sprayed areas and have not had any problems.

Aloe vera is my sun block when I plan on spending the day out.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe, before opening up a case with the Rent Committee, one needs to have their tenancy contract registered with RERA's Ejari portal. Either way, I doubt that they will even entertain your case and you may bring more harm your way then you expect, as the law is on the side of the Property Management Company. People forget that by doing things illegally, they are just forcing the government to come up with additional laws which indirectly causes great inconvenience to the people who try their best to abide with it and to themselves in the long run. I don't know how long you have lived here but not everyone starts out big in any part of the world. Not every woman / husband on this forum are making the big expat packages you think, but everyone still manages to survive and live within their means.

TRA is the only way I see resolution with DU.... I have officially lodged 8 different complaints with TRA about DU in the past and they have always resolved it soon. DH who works in the Telecommunications industry here has in the past contacted VP's and SR managers in DU to complain but all they do is write long apologetic emails and don't do anything, so best is the Telecommunications Regulatory Body (TRA) who call the shots when it comes to both service providers.

You don't need to visit the TRA office. On their website is a complaints section, fill it online and they will either email you to inquire further or will just resolve it for you. Here is the website... http://www.tra.gov.ae/complaints_system.php Just mention you are only reachable via email. It was really nerve racking as Du just did not want to admit they messed up or they were simple greedy. Do not pay anything to them as even after payment they will and can still say you owe them....

It's happened to us. Back in 2009 or so we left our apartment in discovery gardens and moved to al barsha. To close my Du account I went to the Du shop at IBN battuta and asked for my final bill. The service rep. gave me the computerized copy which I paid on the spot and received a receipt and stamp from their side. After about 2 years, I get a call from an outsourced collections company asking me to make my final bill payment as they claimed I never ever made. Since it's practice for us to always scan and keep receipt copies, I immediately emailed them the final bill. They closed the matter. Again in 2012, i get a call but this time from a solictor's office saying legal action will be taken if i do not pay up. I again emailed them the copies of the final bill and paid receipt along with my credit card bill to confirm the payment was made, but still they were hounding me. I then lodged a complain with TRA and submitted all my receipts and my CC statement showing the amount was paid. I got a letter from my bank confirming the same. It took TRA about a month but they resolved the matter and since then no more calls nor emails. Sadly, Du is really bad and a cheat, you need to check bills and keep copies as you never know when they can claim non payment. TRA is the main regulatory body for both telecommunication service providers.

For most dogs, once a month only, orherwise excessive bathing strips them of natural oils. Brushing needs to be done weekly, suggest you buy a ferminator as its really good. Nails can be clipped based on how long they are.... Active dogs generally a month or even longer. You can do it home, we have never hurt them ever. We never go to the groomers and bathe all our 3 (large n medium) dogs at home.... When they were pups, we'd put them in the tub n play n scrub them.... Another fun way of bonding. I love bathing them... Lots of fun... If you have a yard, even better as water is not wasted. To learn how... Check out various videos on YouTube.

Agree with Nomad and shabbydiva. While I am not against buying a pedigree dog, I would never pay over aed 10K for any of them as reputable breeders do not charge these absurd amounts. I too bought my GSD (puppy) which was less then aed 4K along with a variety of certificates and health documents. Apart from this the puppy was not transported to dxb until he was 4.5 months while I came across so many puppy sellers who were selling pups less then this age and these pups were transported to this country from overseas by forging documents and creating a health risk to the poor dog. K9 and other rescue organizations have puppies who are all healthy and even the adult dogs are mentally sound. You can have a pedigree puppy who has a serious of behavioral issues... it all boils down to how you treat and interact with the animal. Remember, Pedigree dogs have more health issues because of humans tampering with their genetic makeup unlike strays and cross breeds.

Cats get stressed for sure but it's all about working with them. What we do is basically 2 months before going on leave we take all our dogs and cats to the boarding place and drop them once a week for daycare, after the second week we drop them off twice a week at daycare then after 2 weeks of this we leave them overnight (initially just once in a week) and do this for 2 weeks also. The last 2 weeks we leave them overnight for the 2 day weekend. By the end of this 2 month training, both dogs and cats become very accustomed to the boarding facility and very friendly with their staff. Once we collect them back, they are all happy campers who are happy to see us but are never frail or unhappy that we left them plus the added advantage of cameras at the boarding place makes me happy to see my cats and dogs very happy to be playing (4 to 5 play sessions) and doing their silly tricks.

It's safer to leave your pets in a boarding facility. They will not get into trouble nor get bored, plus with the amount of interaction with other dogs n cats during the day, they should get tired by night. We use urban tails and love them because we always take rooms which have a camera so even in the night we log on and can make sure they are sound asleep. The staff there are wonderful and very friendly with both cats and dogs and I would never leave them anywhere else ever.

Hi OPMUM1, you have got the gist correct. We have and are still doing the same. 3 dogs and 2 cats. We have dedicated an entire bedroom to the cats and have made it a fun place to be in. We first started by crating our 3 dogs, then over time once we noticed that the dogs were not interested in the cats (would just look and not bark or just fall asleep) we then put them on their leads and held on to them. Again once they stopped displaying any signs of hyperness we let them then come up-close to the cats. At this point if any dog barked or got aggressive, they were crated again till they displayed calm behavior again. Sadly we are now working with one cat as he is not happy with one of our large dogs but over time and more work we will get there (I think he is really scared of our big GSD who just wants to play but the sheer size gets to the poor boy). Another dog of ours used to be completely aggressive towards cats and first introductions were not good at all. What we also did additionally was build a metal gate (as big as a door) and we would let the cats and dogs see each other the whole day. 2 dogs used to sit outside the gate and whine and then they started to lick the cats every them they rubbed their bodies against the gate. It's taken us a longer time as we were first time cat parents + ours are feral so we needed time to bond with them before introductions with other furry creatures at home. So it can be done as our 3 dogs play happily with 1 cat as of now :) hopefully the 2nd cat will realize what he's missing and will join in soon... Lots of high value treats (sausage, boiled chicken) to the dogs for calm behavior and extra treats every time they became un interested and walked away. For the cats, treats if they accept them but make sure there is plenty of places for them to hide just in the off chance something goes wrong. We have put up wall shelves in our entire living area so they can jump and be safe... all at various reachable heights. All the best and you must always stay positive without showing any traces of fear as both animals can sense that. Have lots of fun and do let us know how it goes :)

Flame of the Forest and Neem are really good. They both need water only twice a week (in summers) and will grow tall and shady but they both take a while... Neem a good 5 years, Flame about 3 years so you may need to look for a mature tree. Both trees will need some time to adjust in new soil and would most probably look dead before you see new shoots.

The law in Dubai, for a while now, has been, NO to sharing of apartments and villas. Everyone knows of it and like it or not has to bear the consequences in due time. It's not necessary that people want to interfere, remember, there are always 2 hands to clap... so just take it as a lesson learnt, respect the rules and leave.

Hi ecochic, thanks - I do agree with the principle of the vaccination thing, I just hadn't thought about it when pup had hers done. Good idea about the copy receipts (though it was the municipality vet so who knows...!) I just wanted to be able to actually advertise her rather than only relying on the help of the 'homing lady' - it is EW's reaction I am having difficulty understanding really. If the vaccinations are on the book then call DM's vet section at khawaneej and see if they can help. I have found them helpful in the past but have always gone there in person. Do not forget dubizzle as it has loads of coverage when compared to EW. Contact the EW admin and see what happened and what can be done to re advertise. Bet they would help and understand. And do not mention 'Free Adoption' just 'Adoption' as this way you cannot be held liable for any false claims. <em>edited by ecochic on 27/03/2013</em>

When ever anyone is trying to rehome an animal, it's best to asks for reimbursements of vaccinations, at least for that year as there are many suspicious people out there who want free dogs and honestly may not be able to give it a decent life if not worse. If you do not have vaccination receipts, contact the vet who will be able to give you copies of them. Never give a pet free as most of the time the freebie people are just out for the goodies which comes along with the animal. Only genuine people will pay for the vaccinations plus this way you know that basic care such as health etc would be taken care of apart from a happy home. One more thing, it's best to ask for the potential adopters tenancy contract which states pets are allowed as too many times people take on pets and the building management or LL ask them to move out and breaking a lease can fall expensive or the pet would be back on the rehoming market which is not good for any animal.

Someone on my floor has a new dog, from the sound and strength of it's bark it is a large dog - sounds like a German shepherd or something similar. It must be on it's own all day as it never stops barking, Everytime a lift pings or someone is in the corridor it barks, all day. I feel sorry for the poor thing but at the same time am getting a bit fed up of hearing it as it is constant barking for about a month now.I hope it settles down soon. Not necessary it's a large dog.... Have you heard a basset hound bark????

I think when you say your pup is socialised you mean that he is generally ok with other dogs? Ours go to doggy daycare and have a great time running around with other dogs of all breeds and sizes yet as soon as they are on their leads for a walk they bark and bark at other dogs! For your situation the reality is that your dog caused no harm to the owner or the animal but just frightened them. I'm sure that you have had a big shock and will be sure to prevent him getting out this way again. Very true about barking dogs and daycare. That is one reason we took ours out. We still socialize them as we have friends come over with their dogs. Now when we take them for walks, we have no worries about them barking nor when they decide to have a sniff outside the villa and another dog's passing by.... Personally I think, while daycare is great, it's just too many dogs for only a few humans to handle and all hard work and training goes into the bin.

Congrats!!!! We did the same, 4 years back and once we came back, family and friends wanted to gift us something. We had everything and did not need any more. DH came up with a brilliant idea. Everyone who wanted to buy us something, we asked them to go to the nearest animal shelter and donate the amount they would have spent on a gift. I do know that many though we were nuts but many did do that while the rest.... hmmm.... don't know still...
