If you are looking to exclusively breastfeed -I would highly recommend the Brest friend pillow - was a life saver - DS is 8 months and I still use it. Good luck!

Thanks a lot ladies. Laurab85 - thats a great tip - now why didn't i think of that ! Wow - kiwispiers you really give you bub great food. I am vegetarian - will definitely try the rice pudding and I always thought i cant add spices to bubs food - i will have to give that a go and see how DS takes it. Please share more vegetarian recipes that you make. Out of topic - kiwispiers - how on earth do you have so much time - to cook such great food and also post on EW - Am here with DS and i don't even get to log on to EW on a daily basis. Maybe you can share some tips on how you juggle all this ;)

We take DS to him and hes one of the best peds i have come across. He is very patient and answers all your questions. The best thing about him according to me is that he doesnt prescribe meds unecessarily. Oh btw i remember once when DS was sick we called his mobile and he was out of UAE and he texted us back and we had a sms consultation with him. So i would def recommend him !

What age? DS is six months - at bedtime i have noticed if i keep talking to him in hushed voices he starts to feel drowsy and it's easier to put him down. For now i keep talking gibberish as i don't know if he would really understand a story. I can't keep up with the same so thought would start telling him a story so that atleast I don't feel that I sound like weird.

I just bought some pants/skirts size 8 at M&S. They are not maternity, but they have elastic which I think are more comfortable, and they are reasonable priced and good to wear for the office. I have to agree with imolinae - I did the same m&s skirts are great and they still work for me ( DS is nearly 6 months) as I haven't lost my tummy yet!

Thank you lovely ladies - I am glad that you are all around to help and give advice. Started off DS on rice cereal with BM today :) Also, when can we progress to wheat/ oat cereal ? Is it true that rice cereal etc is just empty calories and we should progress to fruits and veggies as they are better? Lemondrops - if I have to make it with formula - how much formula powder should I add for say 1 tbsp of cereal? And should I use warm water or just cooled boiled water is fine ?

Would you know around what time of the year do they have the sale on ?

I would say if you can locate a ped whom you can go to in case of some emergency at the place you are staying it might be helpful - Its not fun having a lo and hunting for a ped when they are sick.

Sunsa - I hear you. I have a 5.5 month old who is exclusively breastfed and he is worse - Its a tough job to get him to sleep most nights. We do have a night time routine - bath, breast and bed. Some days he goes down easy other days its a struggle. He has a dream feed around 11 - 11.30 depending on his last feed ( 8 - 8.30pm) and he wakes up quite a few times in the night. Only the breast works - no pacifier/ cuddling / rocking. During the day he easlily goes 3.5 hour between feeds some days even 4 hours - but night times its anywhere between 2.5 - 3 hours. I don't have the heart to let him cry it out in the night and honestly I'd rather get up feed him and go back to sleep than deal with a crying baby in the middle of the night as I am wasted at the end of the day. I tried expressing but it seems more exhausting than getting up to feed - a feed only takes 10 minutes but expressing takes me 20 minutes (15 mts expressing and cleaning etc) so I went back to feeding him myself. Added to this DS has reflux and hence things are a little worse here - I am scared that his reflux might worsen if we introduce formula. DH is stressing that we should give him formula in the night once he is six months but am still not too convinced and I kind of feel guilty that I am denying him BF and being selfish. He is not yet into solids and I want to wait until he takes solids twice a day before I give in and take the formula route. I just hope it gets better for us soon and this is just a phase and this too will pass. Hugs and Good luck to you ! edited by ellaar on 30/04/2011

I was in this boat too and remember feeling like I had a whole 3 strands on my head! Your hormones can take up to a year to rebalance so hang in there. I went to the herbal shop in IBN Battuta and got something for hair loss and then also went to my salon, Pastels, and they have an amazing Kerastase treatment. Shampoo, conditioner and a leave in treatment which worked well for me. In the beginning, you can use the treatment every time you wash your hair, and as the hair growth improves, you can slow down and space the treatments out to suit x Hello Clair K, can you please tell me which shop in Ibn Battuta ? Is this the one next to Faces?

I had Oman Insurance and they do give you the claim form signed and sealed. But there is a co payment of 20% as FMC is not on Oman Insurance network. HTH.

Fairy used to produce an anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid, but I haven't been able to find it for 2 months now... I now just use fairy dishwashing liquid (which has a baby on the label - doesn't specifically say it is for babies though) it is probably no different to any other brands! Pardon my ignorance - what is different about fairy and the other dishwashing liquids out there? Also in Babyshop I have seen Pigeon Bottle Nipple and Vegetable Cleaning liquid - it says on the label that it is a natural bio degradable cleanser - is this any good?

I have the one from babyshop and it's god sent. DS is a reflux baby and I had/ am spending a lot of time keeping him upright after he's done nursing and I don't know what I would have done without it. Sometimes when I am in a marathon feeding session (growth spurts, illness etc) it has helped to get some rest for my back. But I would definitely not recommend it to put bubs to sleep - maybe you can rock until the baby is drowsy and then put him down in his cot.

Thanks mommies... Any thoughts on which brand I should go with? Hipp or earths best? Or is this like what they say for formula - you have to try different ones to see what the bub will take? And cereal should be made with BM I assume as DS is EBF.

Dr. Syed rais ahmed at kids first is our ped- would recommend him highly. He is very patient and thorough. Doesn't prescribe meds unnecessarily. If insurance does t cover kids first clinic you can also see him at city hosp. He visits there twice a week. HTH
