Good morning SH12, Mega Congrats on your up and coming marriage! My husband is a Celebrant and can conduct the actual Blessing Ceremony for you, he has worked with many wedding planners in Dubai but Rochelle Malika mobile phone number +971507885067 owner of 'Marriagement' plans weddings to fit budgets and she does a good job. I suggest you do your legal wedding in you own country because you must be a resident of the UAE to do that here. If you especially wanted to get married overseas, Cyprus is the go-to-place, you only need be there for 3 days and the process is easy. If you would like to email Roger, my husband, for more details/helpful hints and tips, his URL is: [email protected] My very Best Wishes to you and your future husband for a long, loving, happy and successful married life together. Hi there, I can highly recommend a lady called Elvira for a precision hair cut, she is one of the best hairdressers I've had here. My hair is fine and she instinctively knows how to cut/handle it, although I nearly fainted when she used the razor on it for the first time. But I was delighted with the end result. I think I pay AED150 for a cut and blow dry, plus I give a Du card to Elvira and the 2 manicurists working in the shop as well. I take a picture of the style I would like to have and Elvira will give her opinion if it will suit me or my type of hair. She is engaged and involved with her clients. Over the years I have visited most of the high end hairdressers and frankly, I was not over the moon by their standards of hairdressing and I do object to supporting workers in plush, extravagant surrounds. I'll pay for expertise, but that's about it. The salon is clean and neat and called Lolita, Ladies Beauty Salon, shop No M12A and it's in Hamarain Centre, Deira. Land line: 04 2516011 Mobile: 050 3947700 Mobile: 055 3947700 Hope this info helps! I'm not associated in anyway, other than a satisfied customer, with this salon:)

Hello Jomason, Many congratulations on your engagement. I am happy to hear you have found a suitable venue for your Blessing Ceremony. My husband has conducted Blessing Ceremonies at the Arabian Ranches Golf club and it's a very nice venue. He would be delighted to conduct your ceremony there too. A blessing in the desert would be lovely, especially as it's a place you love. He is experienced in making Blessing Ceremonies a beautifully special, memorable occasion for the couple, their families and friends. Please call Roger 050 5671 271

Hello, it is true, your legal wedding must be done in a designated place. eg, Church, Mosque, Dubai Court, if you are both resident here, and in some Embassies. The Blessing Ceremony can be done anywhere you choose, in a hotel, on the beach, Golf Club, in your own home or in a resort. My husband is a Celebrant and if you would like to call him, he will be happy to discuss Blessing Ceremony details with you. Roger 050 5671 271 Congratulations on your up coming marriage! Best regards Elle

I can recommend a great precision and technical cutter. However, her salon is in the Coral Beach Hotel, Ajman. I can't recommend anything else other than her cutting skills. Her name is Amina and I have just posted all about her on Maude's thread, if you would like to check that out.

Hi Maude, I also have fine hair, and not a lot of it now. I am fussy about the cut and need it to be spot on to feel comfortable and confident. I have searched high and low to find a really good precision, technical hair cutter in Dubai. I found one! I went to Amina on a recommendation from a lady with very fine hair as well. I am satisfied with her work and passing on the recommendation. The draw back is, her salon is in the Coral Beach Hotel, Ajman. You will need to take a picture of the style you want and be a little patient explaining exactly what you want her to do. I found the style I wanted on the net, printed it off and took the pic with me for her to see. I can't recommend anything else other than her cutting, because I've had nothing else done because she uses Wella products for highlights and my hair locks up 'bright orange' with that brand. I am happy to say, after many years of highlights, my natural darkish hair colour is, at last, going silvery grey and I love it. The salon is definitely frills free and basic, I personally don't mind that, I much prefer to pay for someones expertise and get a really great haircut rather than support the huge overhead of a Lux salon. She charges a ridiculous AED60 for a cut. I am embarrassed and give her and the other 2 girls a Du phone card each to express my thanks. Sorry, don't have her number with me, but if you are interested, call the Coral Beach Hotel and ask for the ladies hairdressing salon/directions how to find it.. As you go into the hotel, veer off left and the salon is on the right hand side 3 or 4 shops down and right next to Ahhh! a furriers..... The added bonus is there is a Grape shop in the same vicinity. I'll have to ask DH for directions to that if anyone wants to know. Wishing everyone a happy day! Elle

Hi Sakhifa, Thank you for your advice. Marketing is new to the author and he would like to stimulate the local market. The book is already listed on amazon.com and it's in UK bookstores. The author has a few editions here and would be pleased to have a book signing event. The book is called: The Kyoto Protocol, the genre is Suspense Thriller/Paranormal. It is a fast paced story, set in the early 22nd Century. The story revolves about an important discovery of a new protein in Japan which imparts an expansion of human intelligence and telepathic abilities. Three children travel across the world to England to the home of their biological father and they hold the key to the overthrow of the worlds dictators. (in a nutshell) I will have a look to see how it may be considered for the EW book club. The book won the publishers traditional book prize for 2012 Many thanks

If you go to Al Safa vet's and ask Dr Monique or the receptionist if you can have the contact number of the lady who breeds the best (Dr Monique's words) Chihuahua's, it may work out well for you. She may be very choosy who she lets her dogs go to. Unfortunately, I lost my phone and don't have her number anymore. I have 2 rescued Chi's and could not feel more happy and blessed with them. As someone else said, you should consider an 18year life expectancy for small breeds and don't get a small breed if you have small children because they tend to consider them to be toys. I was in the vets one day and a lady came to collect her very cute and tiny Chi after it had a broken leg attended to, I was told that poor little dog had 5 broken bones in a short space of time!! Good Luck

Go with the grey, it can look fab and very striking on young women! I used to have silver high-lights put into my hair in my mid 20's and then blonde high-lights for the next decades. But, this summer the weather got the better of me and I had to go short for comfort, all of the high-lights were cut off and I am still quite dark ( can't believe it at my age) but I have quite a bit of natural silver coming through and loving it. I have also found a great hairdresser capable of doing a fantastic techinical, short precision cut. At a price that does not, anywhere near, break the bank. For the latter part of the summer, after the cut, my hair has looked really good even when wet and dripping from the humidity, it holds it's shape beautifully. I was told years ago, if one's hair looks good wet, it will look super when dry and it's true.

Hi there, I can recommend with confidence Dr Monique, (she is also a very good surgeon) and her husband Dr Malcom, is kind and gentle. They look after my 2 rescued Chihuahua's and one of them is in his 17th year! I've only had him 8 years though. He just had a blood work up and got an excellent clean bill of health today from Dr Malcom, so I am over the moon! Both vet's have a caring way and good attitude, I know animals sense it. They also have an ultra sound and x'ray unit and probably a lot more equipment I don't know about, they keep themselves up dated on current treatments too. I feel less stressed myself knowing I have reliable and skilled people to go to if a problem comes up with my much loved, tiny 4 footed friends. ( I don't work there or know Drs Monique or Malcom personally other than through my visits to their clinic with my dogs and cat) A female vet from another clinic felt the full force of my female chi's bite, it hurt and she held on tight and.... drew blood, when she rough handled her. Hope this helps Good Luck :) Elle

Hi, My husband has conducted quite a few Blessing Ceremonies in the Al Qasr Hotel, on the beach platform, and in the Magnolia Garden. Familes, friends and the couples themselves have always seemed very happy and satisfied with the way things went on their 'Special Day' The One and Only is lovely too, and also the Jumeriah Beach Hotel is quite reasonable and good value for money. Many Congratulations on your up coming marriage and lot's of Good Luck with finding a venue that will fill your needs. Another, Elle.

Hi Mrs O, he sounds good. But I have a 340m wide span over 2 side by side patio doors, and I am not sure how to solve 'hanging' curtains over such a wide span. The longest curtain rail I have found so far, (that I like) only spans 3m. I need someone who 'knows' about solving the problem. Many thanks anyway, I am sure I have other jobs for him. Elle

vp if you read my post again, you will see quite clearly I encouraged the OP to leave now. However, she asked for advice and she may decide not to take the advice. You, I or no one else can force anyone to do things, no matter how 'right' we feel our advice is. Events here have a nasty way of evolving rapidly and she may leave her decision to leave too late. She should know what her options are, and make her own decisions. So, I stand by my offer.

Hi, I am sorry to tell you it is not possible for you to visit him if you are not related to him. However, you can write to him, and he can speak to you on the telephone. He must call you because you can not call him. If you wanted to put some money into his Amanat account, you can do that as well. (it's like a bank account the inmates have, which enables them to buy sandwiches, toothpaste, and deo etc and used for making phone calls) You will need his prison ID number before you can do anything though, so that will be your first step. Please call me if you would like to know anything else. Hope this helps. Elle

All of the ladies have given you the best advice. Just to add, you may not have the choice about leaving or not. If a case is brought against you, and it will be, if you are unable to cover the landlord's cheque. Normally your name will be entered into the computer at Immigration showing you have a legal issue. You may be detained there and then and taken to a police station holding cell. Once you get into the legal system here it is very difficult, and highly stressful. It will do you no good assuming certain procedures will take place, just like home (Canada, in you case) everything is very different, drawn out and complicated, and you will not be at liberty to do much to help yourself. Where would your children stay and who would be responsible for them, if you had to go into prison? I agree with another lady, it really is a no brainer, you must not stay here. Take the airtickets and leave now while you can. I do not know for sure, but I would assume Canada will have agencies in place that help families in distress, if you honestly have no family or friends there who can support you until you get yourself back on track. Maybe you could google Canadian Agency information. If the very worst happens to you, and you are sent to prison, please keep my number and call. I know people who visit both men and ladies in Al Awir every week. 050 5671 434 Lot's of Good Luck, Elle
