Good luck and please let me know how it goes! I have no idea where the nest is though. DH saw some this morning in the laundry room, they tend to come in the kitchen etc. Have you located the nest? Luckily our management company is sending pest control on Saturday. I'm temporarily staying with a friend in DG and facing the same problem. We were having a lot of trouble locating the anthill until we found a hole in the wall near the window .. It is literally a pinhole but there is steady traffic of ants going in and out of the house from there. I'm looking for a pet-safe sealant to close the hole as well as a pet-safe ant killer -- all recommendations are welcome!

Twice a week, apply olive oil to your hair 30 mins before your shower - And then wrap a hot towel around your head to create a little steam (I just sit in the balcony with my back to the sun) - Run a wide toothed comb to get the dandruff off the scalp and then wash your hair with shampoo only ONCE! Rinse well - Remember, shampoo residue is not good. Also, twice a week -- When you're not using the hot oil treatment, give your washed hair a vinegar rinse (1:1 ratio of water & vinegar) leave on for 5 mins and then rinse thoroughly! HTH

Flavours did a great iftar the other night - loads of salads, shawarma, lamb ouzi, lots of Arabic dishes, not great dessert selection, but still very nice, and great value with the voucher. Not done the iftar there but have been a regular at Five Dining and think the food quality is great. Love their buffets and it's a really nice cosy restaurant so I think either would be a good shout. Thanks, TDB -- Think I'll go with Flavours on Two. Do I need to make a booking (for two people on a weekday iftar)? If yes, do I need to mention that I will be using my Entertainer voucher?

Dilys, The Mosque Representative from SMCCU says that as long as you are non-Muslim and are visiting the mosque for the purpose of tour and not prayer - there are no restrictions for a woman who has her periods. HTH!

Good link and pretty much confirms what we all already know. It's interesting that they haven't included a Union Coop in the comparison though, because they are hands down the cheapest. Think I might have to go visit a Union Coop. Where is the biggest and nicest one in Dubai? Love the Barsha one because it seems the cleanest -- probably because its the newest one on the block!

I’m assuming that the ex may show resistance to an 8 year old being given a cellphone. But if there is wireless access then maybe you can buy the 8 year old an iPod touch or similar as it has skype AND whatsapp on it and kids in that age group are so pleased with the games and other features of that device!

You have done your part when you purchase the vouchers, the physical vouchers are just a receipt for you to keep HOWEVER you can volunteer to help with the distribution of the iftar

Also Eid is supposed to be from 19 August, if Ramadan is called on Friday how will this be affected? If moon sighting is announced on Thursday night and Friday, 20th July is the 1st of Ramadan then Eid will fall either on 18th of August or 19th of August. If Ramadan is for 29 days and Eid falls on 18th August which is a Saturday then the private sector will miss out on one day of holiday! However, if Ramadan starts on 21st July then the earliest that Eid can be is 19th July - a Sunday. I think this is what louisedvs was referring to

Hi Hope someone can help me - I need to re-register my car so was checking for any fines online this morning, when I put my plate number in to RTA website, it showed that I have a fine from Dubai Police for not wearing a seatbelt...news to me! I have never been stopped by the police/issued with a fine for this. Can they just fine you for something without you knowing anything about it? Appreciate with things like speeding, it's the camera that catches you and that may well show you didn't have a seatbelt on, but this is just an offence of no seatbelt - nothing else. Also, where it says it happened, there is no camera so I'm unsure how they can prove it...then again this is Dubai so that may count for nothing! Help would be appreciated as I need to re-register my car this weekend!! Thanks Can you remember an incident where you may not have been wearing a seatbelt? If so, don't bother contesting it! According to my driving instructor from Belhasa -- we may now be manually issued fines for such offenses by police cars stationed on the roads OR because we were spotted by patrol cars (with camera's at the back)

Hi Ladies, Thank you so much for the details below..I am now looking at the following as per all your advise and will narrow it down by calling the restaurants to find out further details: 1. Mezza House (near Burj Khalifa), 2. Loui's (down Town), 3. Shakespeare on Sheikh Zayed, 4.W on Sheikh Z, 5. Shu on beach road Ideally I would want a bar type place with licence only because we want to make a night of it so go late after dinner and relax there so looking for a nice bar type atmosphere and not necessary for people who are there to eat and leave..We aren't planning to have dinner..just shisha, desserts, drinks..Ive already been to Reem Al Bawadi but again its a very restaurant type atmosphere and you don't really get a chance to mingle with other people..i know we are better off going to a bar but we do want to have shisha.. If any of you can help me narrow down my options from the above, please do assist. Thank you so much once again I don't think Shu or Mezza House are licensed ..

I am starving, have hunger pains, headaches, no strength to get out of bed, but have absolutely no appetite for food. Anyone felt this before? Are you pregnant?? I had this every time I got pregnant.. What I do is drink something really sweet!! Like Mango juice etc.. and boom, when the energy kicks in, so does appetite.. I'm not pregnant - hopefully. Just a hard time. Can't decide to work and grow in my career or become a SAHM with three LOs. Another topic to whine about. Thanks for the suggestion though, have to put something in my stomach. Try a cold potato salad or fruit yogurt .. In this weather, sometimes one has to motivate oneself to eat

Splash has the most uncomfortable shoes known to mankind -- And its not just heels, their flats are the same For under AED 300, try Vincci, Charles & Keith, Aldo, Nine West and Spring ... And try to get a heel thats 3 inch or less because the higher the heel, the less the comfort factor ETA Remembered Naturalizer -- very comfortable shoes :) edited by em2san on 11/07/2012

They have to pick someone, don't they? I've also been picked out and frisked, as passenger and as crew, it's part of travel these days I'm afraid... Of course they should be polite and nice but you can't really complain about having a security check, sorry... You can complain when everytime you fly to (or through) Europe, you're selected for a random check and they claim it has nothing to do with your choice to cover your head
