difficult to make a noise when you are under water... a young girl who had wandered from the small pool straight into the deep pool was very lucky. The group of people near her hadn't even noticed, none of the lifeguards.. it was only when the mother realised she had diappered and came looking that she saw 2 little hands just above the water. It wasn't until she then jumped in that anyone else realised she was even there....

We have just been through a similar situation, the rent committee confirmed that even if the LL did want to move in himself that he is required to give the tenant 12 months notice.... so fear not...

I agree 20 lots of the same thing is a bit of waste. Personally, I am happy to make a contribution to a class gift if a. I am happy with how things have gone that year, b. It is a sensible amount without getting carried away. I think that people should be offered to be involved and keeping it around 25dhs per family would still get a decent amount for vouchers or the like for them to choose what they would like, and also not hit families who have more than 1 child to pay out for. When you start getting told its 100dhs here and 100dhs there it's all a bit silly. I'd still help my child make a little thank you card to take in last day so they have something personal.

Quite happy sharing our space with the ants, ghekko's, jumping spider etc..... but if possible I would really like to avoid a spider bigger than a Trantula that's supposedly not meant to exist here.... Have lived in Oz and never crossed paths with one so am keeping everything crossed my luck continues.....

Me too, thought it must have been a mistake until this morning. One found sitting on the stairs, the next was actually in the car, and the 2 last night hanging off a wardrobe!!! I need a valium.... and I've not even encountered one....:\: Any tips on keeping them away, maybe lavendar and lemon spray or something.... I couldn't bring myself to kill anything...

Hi, absolutely.... but they can give you a nasty nip even though non venemous. Also, for somebody of a weak disposition the shock alone could be fatal!! Imagine you are driving down SZR and one rambled out from underneath you, I'd have kittens...

I agree it depends how you personally feel towards the staff that have taught your child that year. Some may not have had such a great experience as others, so being made to feel that you have to contribute doesn't sit well with me personally and I would do as I felt appropriate. At home we gave £5 for the TA and £7.50 for the teacher, collectively purchased gift vouchers from John Lewis for both and they were over the moon. Don't quite understand why here people feel they have to buy such expensive things.

JShepherd interested to hear if you have found anyone yet. We may be in the same situation later in the year so looking into things now. Have spoken to Howdra today but the cost of using them for 7 hours a day 5 days a week is going to be over 4000aed a month.

Thanks for all of your words. My friend and her husband received the worse possible news this morning. His tumour is malignant; it is a Grade 4 Glioblastoma, the worst possible outcome. Cancer is such a b***ch, but they are going to fight it with all they have and their army of friends will be right there with them. As Winston Churchill once said, [i'>'If you are going through ****, keep going'.[/i'> Keep positive for them, unbearable news to cope with. A friend of mine was diagnosed and told he would only at best have 12months to live, that was back in 1998..... gotta love the human spirit.. xx

we have guests all of next week and Chimes is always a take out option - bit nervous about recommending it now....Dubai cat - let me have some more research please!!!!! Claire, the lady who owns it has moved up with us somewhere, did meet her at a coffee morning I held can't remember her name but Quizzme probably will. If I bump into her I will ask if there has been a change in chef... but sounds like all back to normal from the below posts, maybe just a temporary blip.

Lol Miss Piggy, Sue and Lady Bubbles I should have thought of that... see usually I would be wearing my wooden clogs, but with the heat I went for thongs and a hat with corks instead. We had our Will and guardianship documents done at home (UK). But were advised to have an interim guardianship drawn up in Dubai in the event anything should happen to both of us. The idea being that rather than the kids being taken to a police station or some kind of care facility we could ensure that somebody we trusted and knew could care for them until such time the permanent guardian could get to Dubai. Had heard without it, it can be quite a lengthy process for the perm guardian to actually be able to take kids into their care. Given that almost all of the pools have the same issue you'd think they would just cut to the chase and get on and fix the darn thing!!! Can your LL not put pressure on IML? Maybe ask your LL for a reduction in rent as you cannot use the pool, may be motivation for them to put some pressure on... best of luck, they get there in the end just a shame you have to wait for sooooooo long.

You may want to think about what would happen to the kids if something should happen to both you and your husband. That would be more concerning to me, setting up a POA for interim guardianship until your home country one arrived would definitely be worth looking into.

Just an update on my situ. Our LL initially told us he wouldn't renew as he waned to move in. We advised that he had to give us 12 months notice, so he agreed but insisted on a 25% increase and payment from 4 to 1 cheque. We pointed out he wasn't able to do that, he then agreed 4 cheque but insisted he had to have the 25% increase. We advised him again that he wasn't legally allowed to do this and cc'd RERA in on the email, after much consideration he is ALLOWING us to stay at the same rent and terms.... Know your rights and stick to your guns....

I think your current age may also factor.... all through my 20's and into my 30's I was absolute that I never wanted kids. People and relationships change and so do your expectations and priorities. If you are maturer people then you may need to really consider your position if you most definitely see kids in your future. Hope it works out for you both.

A very good piece of advice I was given from a lady who I met on EW and who I would most certainly term as a friend, was to spread your net wide, take your time as there will be a lot of people who pop in and out of your life with a breeze. But amongst them you will slowly start to find people who fit with you. I do the obligitory good mornings etc but I do have a very small circle of proper friends now.

Its so odd hearing people talk about this area whilst we ll live here emlsnre - I was at Bcot doing BTEC national diploma sport science in 1995 - 97 when were you studying there? I was there from 1991 - 1993... did a HND in Business & Finance... the world certainly is a small place.

There are some nice older style properties around Farnborough, but as already said I personally wouldn't want to decamp there. However, beautiful beautiful villages in the surrounding area. Hartley Witney, Church Crookham, Farnham is lovely used to enjoy Borelli's Wine Bar there on a Friday. Can't believe we didn't meet before - all my old haunts!!!!!!! and exactly where we have our house! It certainly is, and if you say that you used to go the Golden Fleece for Thai near Elstead I may just pass out... Fullofdreams....... we must have been fairly close too, I went to BCOT and lived just outside Alresford..

Wow, that's disappointing to hear about Helena. I can certainly second Abu Tariq at Water Edge 050 5510045 but my favourite most gentlemanly would be Mohammed from Green Heights 0509022778. Tell him the lady from RB sector recommended him. He has sorted out Villa's for a couple of our friends now. I think he is extremely busy he seems to be driving up and down the Villa all day...... Ouch indeed!!! Don't ask how but I got stung by one right on the top of my head. OMG, it did result in an abcess so painful, when it burst it took a good crop of hair with it too.... took ages for it grow back. Fingers crossed yours will be OK.. how about vinegar to neutralise it? x

I think most of the jewellery shops at Gold and Diamond Park have diamonds that are GIA certified. Just go there and check out all the shops there! edited by xanzec on 11/05/2011 Have done about 5 shops there none of which did the GIA hence my question! But will go back and check out the ones suggested and hopefully it won't take me all day.
