Home alone.... been out and done a bit of shopping, had a chat with my family at home. Emptied the dish washer, watched crimes that shook Britain... and now thinking of something to keep me out of trouble until dinner time! Where are you from? Whereabouts in Dubai are you living?

It will be interesting one thing for sure - we won't have a queen pippa! Maybe a party queen Pippa.... I hope they somehow are allowed to make a dedication to Diana if they wish to... She would be so very proud of them..

we have wills, guardianship and life insurance set in our home country. we have no assets here nor large amounts of money. if we did then we would have to readdress our current arrangement. we do have an interim guardianship set up here until the permanent guardians can travel here. we chose guardians that are closest and have a similar lifestyle and beliefs to ourselves. we used a lady called Tasleem from James Berry, she was very helpful and checked our UK wills to make sure they were sufficient, the guardianship was easy to set up.

Frimley Park? That's where I was. I'm about 10 mins from there so if there's anything he needs or would like a little visitor I'm very happy to pop in or drop something in to him. You have my e mail - drop me a line xx Ruth M - you raise such valid points. My experience of the last couple of weeks has been unbelievable and I am hugely grateful for the excellent care I received. I have private medical insurance but was informed that I was too serious to be moved away from emergency trauma as I had to stay under the emergency trauma consultant. All my emergency tests and treatment were in the trauma unit and each and every nurse, dr, consultant etc that attended to me were the most caring, knowledgeable and professional people I could ever wish to meet. As soon as I was no longer considered emergency my care and treatment moved over to a private consultant and into the private wing of the hospital so I could free up my space for someone else who could benefit from top drawer NHS care. I too have been watching the 24 hours in A&E and to see what these teams are able to do to save people's lives all on the NHS is fascinating. We are extremely lucky to have these facilities available to us. Yes - they don't always get it right but the centres of excellence here have saved the lives of at least 2 of my friends who were flown back to the UK as the Drs in Dubai could not offer the level of treatment they required. Emlsnre - I hope your husband is OK. I am doing great - back to hospital this week for more results and still on high dose drugs but feel like I can take on the world again! Glad to hear you are ok... Dh wont be too far from you I think. Is it Friars Park? Ah thats kind Claire..... Just checked it is Clare Park he is going. He is using his private medical insurance from here, so no freebie wrangling from us... :-)

Claire hope you are Ok. My dh is on his way back to the UK for a surgery that couldn't be accomodated here so yes people do still travel for such. I think the NHS can be a god send for most, and do believe that most nurses and doctors do their absolute best with resources they have. But mistakes are made and sadly they can cost peoples lives. I think Maternity units are really overloaded and the experience I had wasn't the best, but even so I am grateful they were there.

My dd has loved her music teacher however she has left the school now, so lets see. Have to agree with Rowellian's comments, having experienced the UK system Repton is not what we would chose if we had to again. In my experience the kids have alot of pressure on them, it is not a great nurturing environment and alot of parents are very pushy, some kids having extra tuition daily some even before school starts. I have no doubt that there are some good teachers there and if you are lucky enough to hit upon one the good for you. There is a big turnover in staff again this year not sure why, have heard varying reasons. Things are often badly managed and dealing with the admin can be like smacking your head against a brick wall.

My apologies if this news has already been posted, just remembered reading it whilst I was in London last week: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/education-news/ofsted-chief-says-private-schools-are-marooned-on-an-island-of-privilege-8669035.html Not so sure he has his facts in order, I don't think Repton UK put anything financially into Repton Dubai, it is owned by an investment company. I am sure they are paid in some form for the use of the name and imagine that Repton offer bursaries and probably the use of some of their facilities to local schools.

Most schools will have admin working for the first week or so after term. Hopefully you can get it resolved. I had an issue last year where I was told they would return a pdc cheque, I tried every week, they never reponded and cashed the cheque just before the start of term. Agree with NannyMcPhee, hearing from alot of people that wont be returning and others who are looking, tired of being held to ransom and patronised. I read the email yesterday and it just annoyed me... Blah, blah, blah.. but there will still be people who are naive enough to believe it..

Is it bad that I am not surprised..... it is so frustrating that they insist on issuing reports on the last day, any mistakes that they make then become very difficult to address until September. Many schools issue the week prior to end of term, at least then you the opportunity to discuss anything should you need to.

As said by other posters Cathay Pacific does not fly direct to London it flies via HK which is 8 hours in the wrong direction. Most airlines fly to Heathrow, some fly to Gatwick (smaller South East airport or City which is a tiny airport in the heart of The City of London) Direct flights would be: British Airways (UK Flagship Carrier) Virgin (UK Based Carrier) Emirates (Dubai Based Carrier - flies to Heathrow or Gatwick) Etihad (UAE Flagship Carrier Abu Dhabi Based) Royal Brunei (Brunei Flagship Carrier but stop in Dubai) Qantas (Australia Flagship Carrier but recently entered into code share agreement with Emirates and stops in Dubai) One Stop (reasonable distance but dependent on connections - this is where the cheapest flights may be found) Gulf Air (connects in Bahrain) Qatar Airways (connects in Doha) Swiss Air (connects in Zurich - flies to Heathrow or City) Lufthansa (connects in Frankfurt or Munich - flies to Heathrow or City) One Stop (these airlines tend to have not so good connections or are slightly further off route but you may find one that works) Oman Air Turkish Airways KLM Austrian Air France Expedia.com / Expedia.co.uk is a good place to start looking, although I generally book direct with the airline (where possible) after getting information from Expedia. Gulf Air are generally quite cheap. edited by RuthM on 25/06/2013 Not relative but glad I am not the only one awake at silly O'Clock!

Very close then Sue R, we are on the Grange Park estate in Swarraton. It is a bit tricky as we are kind of out on a limb, nothing to compare it with... But if I look at places in Winchester they are around £200 to £300 a month more.... We were thinking of a £50 per month increase, but didn't want to be greedy...

I want to take a look but not 100% sure on directions... I am going onto the 66 Al Ain Road from Dubai, do I go past the 7's Stadium and then turn off? Or is it before? I thought it was kind of behind the 7's but talking to somebody yesterday they said it was on the opposite side of Al Ain to the 7's, so a little unsure.... Anyone know? Thanx

Thanks ladies for all the responses. There is no urgency to buy a dog and I keep reading its best to wait till kids are 3+ but it would be nice to add a little furry edition to the family :) Can somebody please explain the idea of why a mixed breed is better than a pure breed dog? What aout pugs? It is believed they have a better temperament, health and intelligence than pure breeds, less chance of interbreeding. I have terriers, and wouldn't swap them for the world, they are family and gorgeous, but have cost alot with vets, food, and one in particular is very blonde (no offence to blondes out there)!

We had a poodle too, it thought it owned my mother. You coukdn't sit next to my mum, poor dad had a fight every night trying to get into bed, even if it saw you trying to give her a hug you became a target. He was great though when she wasn't around.... but wouldn't be my choice..

All are nice dogs, Jacks are obviously terriers and by nature are ratters, if they bite they are going to shake. Poodles's can be quite dominant, have no experience of KC's but a friends Beagle bit their child. But like any dog if somebody pulls their tale or pinches a bit too hard they are going to get told! Personally I would not be looking at pure breeds, and would look for a nice little mix dog, they tend to have a lighter look on life!

She is a sweetheart, how dogs like her that don't get the best starts in life can still be so loving never ceases to amaze me. Vets is closed over the weekend so if anyone is able to break her out for the weekend I am sure you wouldn't regret it....

Oh but they do and can cash cheques prior to date. Our LL cashed a pdc for March in the September so 6 months before it was due. Bank took ages to sort it out and wanted to put the onus on us to sort it out with the LL! Fortunately the funds were there to cover it.
