What do you think his need is? If it is slight then maybe you could look at support out of the school environment if you are struggling to find it within.

I wish I could take her but my 2 dogs are not good with others. I can go to the vets and spend time with her so she gets out of the crate for more time if that helps in anyway....

I am not sure about that... I just put our details in and it said that as our rent is less than or equal to 25% of the average price no increase is allowed.

Rent increases are calculated here http://www.dubailand.gov.ae/English/eServices/RentalIncreaseCalculatorEN.aspx You have to be paying significantly under the average for any kind of increase to be allowed.

Hi, There's a music store in the Oasis Beach Centre - the blue looking building past Dubai Zoo when going towards Dubai. It's the mall that has Zaks the uniform store. It's on the first floor, tucked away in a corner. Thanks I will try that one...

Are you sure the 60 days references the LL having to give you notice and its not for the tenant to advise of non renewal. Regardless, you have to be in agreement to any changes, and quite rightly you are not. Secondly, the RERA calculator is the law, so he has no chance. I would keep to communication in writing, and if you do meet with him, be sure the follow up in writing what was discussed. You are likely to be told all sorts.... Don't get drawn in, stick to the law. He will be within his rights to give you 12 months notice, but at least your rent will remain the same and it buys you another year. If he gives you notice be sure to brng his attention to law 33 article 26 I think that he will not be able to rent it out for 2 years afterwards. Stay calm and don't let him worry you....

Thanks ladies. Emlsnre, does the chocolate melt or get soft? I found the Dr O had a crisp coating. Flames, which gift village did you go to? I used to go to one beside Deira City Centre but I think it closed down. No neither, I just dry it in room with AC on. Once dry I pop in the fridge, happy to send you a pic of a finished one if you would like an idea of finish. This is just my preference I dont like the taste of candy melts so much.

Can you use ordinary chocolate for cake pops? I used to use Dr Oteker's special chocolate cake covering but havn't seen it in the shops recently. I buy waitrose white chocolate and colour as required. Let it dry out of the fridge though.

Feemick, I am so sorry to hear all you are going through. Just looking at your background though, could you not find a job in one of the schools here ? Counsellor or Sports coach? In some of the big schools, as a staff member, your girls schooling would be free or at least reduced, visas would be sorted and you could be independent of your DH. It's just a shame the timing of all this, you really are being forced to make an overnight decision without the opportunity to try to try to find a solution for what is best for you and your girls. BTW are you sure his earnings are terrible and there are no benefits with his job ? I hope he is being honest with you about the finances. Try Repton, they have a boarding house, they maybe looking for Housemistress for September.

I guess as you don't really know the others tnat she wants to invite it is a bit tricky. Are there not one or 2 that you know she is closer too that you could approach to help you out so you are not on your own? I organised a small surprise one for a friend at Raffles for breakfast, I contacted the girls that I had heard her talk about (found through her FB), told them what my plans were and the price of the breakfast and that I knew she would love them to be there, and to let me know kf they could make it. I got balloons and favours, another talented friend made a beautiful banner and diaper cake and we split the cost of her breakfast. It was lovely and very unexpected which was great!

I also hope for the sake of your children and your sanity that they live up to what they are telling you..... I am not being judgemental but it was only 5 years ago that the soon to be Repton parents were hearing all the same spin.. As you say, it is not like you have much of a choice at the end of day, lets hope they deliver for you.

DD had a deposit refunded even though it stated 'non-refundable' on the form. They were unexpectedly offered a place elsewhere. She spoke to the KHDA who told her that it is illegal for schools to keep the deposit. Depends on the wording of the deposit form. We have recently been to KHDA with this, and were advised the below as the form clearly states non refundable. So check your paperwork.

I would take a look and see for yourselves. We rent here, and am glad we don't own it. When it rains, the terrace upstairs floods as not level and soakaway angled wrong direction, so we have bulges in the ceiling of the terrace below where the water has burst through and fairly large water damage on the lounge wall that faces out. There are large cracks inside, I know this happens with new houses, maybe just normal plaster blows but wouldn't like to say as they seem to be growing Not one door or window is sealed properly, so you can see gaps. That said some people who purchased from the outset for their sole use have lovely houses, guess those that purchased for investment probably weren't that concerned about snagging and the final product. edited by emlsnre on 31/05/2013

Depending on school, but I believe most are non refundable unless there is a job loss, death etc.. Unlikely to get it returned just because you received a place at another school.

HI again,. thanks to both of you. German short haired pointers are classed as large dogs. They are hunting dogs bread to be with their master, hence why they are so focused on people. These days they are mainly family pets as they are so easy going and affectionate. They get on with other dogs beautifully. emIsnre I understand what you say about unpredictable dogs. there are a few in the area where I live.. The pointers are very even tempered and reliable Mine hate other dogs and absolutely adore people but have triggers that can set a fight off between themselves at a drop of a hat. Fortunately we are able to manage them quite well now as we know what can cause them, but it would be irresponsible for us to expect somebody else to handle them.

Thanks emInsre. Are you a member of that forum? Had any experiences? Open to other suggestions too. I came across the site a while ago, never used it though. I have 2 dogs, they can be unpredictable and I never felt it right to leave them with somebody else just in case. But if I didn't have them I would definitely help out, love pointers.. Hope you find somebody able to help.

It will be a selective school, finally. I believe that there is a hole in the market and there will be a lot of rejections in the applications dept. Repton is selective isn't it? Highly!

Sorry not very helpful, a friend had some lasered on Beach Road somewhere, will try and find out. I had 2 removed from my back quite a while ago. One in particular was much deeper than they had expected and has left a considerable scar, I have been asked a few times if I was stabbed. I am sure things are much more sophisticated now though, do you know if they are suitable for laser treatment or do they need surgery? Will post back if I find the name of the place on Beach Road, I know it was done by a visiting consultant from the UK.

It will be a selective school, finally. I believe that there is a hole in the market and there will be a lot of rejections in the applications dept. Does it cost more to educate a selected class of FS1 children? Well of course they will have very experienced, mature teachers so will comnand a higher salary hence the higher fees.. Hahaha...that has to be the funniest thing I've read all day ;) Really? :-)

I think most parents know when a dr is needed or not. I don't always run off to see dr everytime my dd has a temp or a bug, rightly or wrongly. Kids can be up and down, and can also go down very suddenly. If you feel they need to be seen today I can't help with an open drop in, but have had excellent help at City out of hours, but she was really very sick. Hope your LO is ok.
