http://www.dubailand.gov.ae/Download.aspx?file=Upload/Issues_39015i.pdf Pg 5 point 2, c but the read the clause at the bottom of section 2. Unless this law has changed of course. Get down to the RC with this law in hand and ask them if it has been updated. Certainly when our LL tried it 2 years ago he was told regardless of him wanting to move in he had to give us 12 months notice. If your contract specifically states non renewable well then that is different.

Thanks for the clarification Kitty - we're playstation and Wii here, no experience of Xbox !! Just talking to the teen about the new Xbox and he reckons it's not compatable with old Xbox games and all the big game developers are currently trying to cut costs so there may not be many games available to play on it... Sorry the OP has had a bad experience - sadly she's not alone by any means... Same with PS4, new architecture so new games...

Foremarke is owned by the same people as the R school which is based in Derby. Please, please do not think for one minute that these schools are anything like those in the UK, you will be extremely disappointed if that is your expectation. R was opened some 5 years ago, and as Gibberish notes people are not complimentary. Gems does education, they are organised and the school will get finished.

I am in no way judging here, but the people who have reported seeing these Youths, did they do anything to try and stop them? Take a picture, note a car plate, report to police....? Just interested to know how this has come to light?

Too awful for words. RIP Roxy. Sorry we weren't able to save you but hopefully we can try spread the word and get a real, enforceable animal anti-cruelty law where the people who carry out these actions will actually pay for their sick deeds. Dubai may have the most expensive police cars, the highest building, the biggest mall YET its track record of animal welfare is one of the most shocking.... I despair at times. I am not debating or contradicting your post, but I thought Roxy"s tragic death happened in Sharjah. edited by simoralu44 on 20/05/2013 It did but the Safa Park incident was here in Dubai!

It can vary depending on location, level time and day slot. One term my dd was the only one in the class, another there were 6 then 8 and once 10. But 2 were make up lessons, from my experience I haven't see more than 8 in a group.

We have found that responses vary from the RC depending on approach. In a call you may not get accurate advice, but if you actually go in and see them with the actual law documented as in the link I sent you will get a different response. When presented with the documented law it is difficult for them to advise you of anything else. Just our experience and some calls have been bang on, but a few have been quite flaky!

Been to Park Hyatt with my two little ones and they loved it! The kids club is really good and the girls who work there are very attentive and lovely. My youngest loved the baby pool that was shaded too. The outside play area of the kids club is also shaded. We all had a lovely weekend and would recommend Park Hyatt to anyone looking for a getaway. :) Le Meridien is also very nice but not as fabulous as Park Hyatt. p.s. their Mojito's are verrry nice and large. ;) edited by Asti on 12/05/2013 The Mojito's may have swayed me I think :-)

Interesting hearing this..... The support we have received has been disappointing and mostly driven by us at significant cost. At the same school, emlsnre? I'm sorry to hear that. Our experience has been excellent and over and above what I would have dared to ask for. Perhaps it is reliant on individual teachers. We have been incredibly lucky with this year's teacher, who is positively superhuman. Yes same school. It is inconsistent, I hear some like yourself who are more than happy and then others who have had just the opposite. Fingers crossed next year we get your superhuman teacher....

The strange situation here in Dubai is that many schools offer great learning support, but they don't tell anyone about it. I can only assume that in an environment where schools have to operate as businesses, being great with special needs children isn't seen as a great marketing message. Which is a shame. I too have a child who has been diagnosed with high functioning autism (I think - this is the same as Asperger Syndrome, right?) and our school (Repton) has provided truly outstanding support for him at no extra cost. However, I should add that he's only in year 4 at the moment, so this may change as he gets older if he needs more help. I did speak to DC, just out of curiosity as I'd heard they wouldn't take a child with special needs and I wanted to know if this was true before I got all indignant about it. They said they would take any child who passed the entrance exam (for which they would provide extra time for those with an autistic diagnosis or with documented processing issues) and welcomed special needs children. 'Cymraes', where is your home country? I can't speak for anywhere else, but in the UK, an Aspergers/hfa diagnosis does entitle your child to significant extra support. Interesting hearing this..... The support we have received has been disappointing and mostly driven by us at significant cost.

It was shameful! We saw quite a few people being carried out assuming dehydrated. The reglar ticket entry was a nightmare, many kids in tears as the couldn't see so peolle were trykng to get on stairways, and we know how that can end up. Security trying to get people to move, but nobody would listen. No reason why he was late when he did finally arrive, spolied little brat hope he loses the lot!

It depends whoyou talk to. The article clearly states 12 months notarised notice. However, rent committee over the phone advised us that yes the LL had to issue12 months notice from the end of current contract but that an email would suffice. But I suspect if you walked into the RC armed with the written law that somebody else would advise it had to be done via notary. ETA http://www.dubailand.gov.ae/Download.aspx?file=Upload/Issues_39015i.pdf. We also pointed out Article 26, that didn't go down too well. edited by emlsnre on 04/05/2013

I think I have seen cupcake cases and picks with pirates on in Bloomingdales and also Lakeland/Tavola.. Have a fab party.

Safa and Horizon schools adopted that research 2 or 3 years ago - we only have reading and optional projects from the school's website up until years 5 or 6... Sorry Pikachu, you're right, it's not every school in Dubai as I implied. Good for Safa and Horizon. What I should have said is that Repton is woefully behind the times. My head hurts and we have only been in 45mins....

Our LL decided to sell last October. We didn't want to hinder him so were accomodating to viewings. However, six months on he still hasn't sold, and we were being 2/3 times a week to show people around. We would be told it is just one person, to then open the door to 3 or 4 different agents each with groups of people. It became very unreasonable, sometimes as many as 20 people wandering through the place. Agents knocking on the door unannounced with client in tow expecting to be let in. Telling me that they had spoken to my husband and arranged it, just lies.. So in the end we said enough, gave the LL a day and time period and made it perfectly clear that this would be the only time acceptable. Be accomodating but stand your ground and don't let them take over.

I would check WHO website for recommendations. Probably best to be up to date, the usual vaccinations if you live there are HepA, HepB, Typhoid, Rabies, MMR, Meningitus ACWY, Varicella (chickenpox) DTaP polio, and if you plan to travel north to Chiang Mai - Japanese Encephalitus (contracted from **** grazing in paddy fields or something like that) Important to spray mosquito repellant as there is risk of Dengue Fever (Bangkok) Not just Bangkok, they have a real problem with it at the moment, my poor old dad has been seriously ill and spent three weeks in hospital near Krabi with Dengue.. Lots of spray, long sleeves, trousers etc....

One of the main problems is that if you are given notice in the UK for example, the majority of the time you can just go rent another property at the same spec for the same price... But here you are looking at having to pay significantly more than your current rent, and not just 10k. All due to greedy landlords and agents. no you don't. You just look around. On which planet?

Sorry no advice on making fondant, but think P&S sell it in different colours. Also, because I am not patient enough to do fondant I would go with a smooth layer of buttercream and then use kitkats or chocolate fingers to sharpen the edges and give it another dimension... Itwill depend on your expectations and what you are looking for.... Community feel type place or just factory style. If I were to be doing it again I would be looking at schools like DESS in Oud Metha, Kings in Umm Suquimm, Horizon and JPS in Jumeirah. However, all easily said and sadly the option for school places here can be a nightmare. Of all of them Repton is likely to be one of a few that will have space.

K2 would not be a place I would recommend. When we went tbey were holding three different lessons in one arena with just one instructor. Very dangerous especially when one is being lunged. Didn't like their attitude at all. Not sure about other places but AS do pony club sessions, 2 hours, first part is grooming etc, then lesson then, wash down etc. I know that Emirates Equestran Centre do it also but think it is every other week and you have to also be doing riding lessons there seperately. They are out near Bab L Shams.
