With 2 kids, I can definitely recommend Mahindra Holiday Resort at varca Beach. They have a kids club with various kids activities throughout the day hence the parents are free to relax at the pool/beach. The good thing is that they have their own private beach next door so you can lounge there without worrying about the kids who will be only a few meters away enjoying with other kids (and the activity organisors). Check it out on Trip Advisor and you can read the reviews too. As for tummy upset, make sure you do not eat from roadside and carry mineral water bottles at all times. This resort is very particular about what they serve - which is delicious and caters to quite a few tastes. Its a bit away from the usual touristy resorts but if you are there more to relax then this is the place. Of course you can go sightseeing from here as you get cabs just outside the resort at reasonable all day fares. Goa is my son's (10 years) favourite holiday destination - and just coz of the kids club there. Not too sure about the weather in July, we always go in Nov/Dec (thrice now ;-)). Enjoy your holiday... edited by mumcurious on 14/02/2013 Second for Varca, very wide peaceful beach, great beach shacks for food, it has been a while but if she still has her place on the beach can recommend Monica's for food. We were lucky not to get sick, but we never ate in the hotels just local...

If you were at the roundabout in the right lane and taking the next right exit then you were fine, if not then you should have been left. Either way that kind of behaviour is unnecessary, try not to take it to heart... You did the right thing by not reacting.

Landlord is correct unfortunately. As the calculator isn't showing figures for June he is allowed to say as per RERA guidelines. Thanks Starsouthern, that is the clarification I was looking for. I guess it will be another or 2 before the June figure shows.

We flew to Bangkok and then a short hop flight from there. The travelling time was less than any other way and the cost was very cheap too. The flight timings were great and there were lots of options. We travelled 3 months ago Was this with Emirates? How long is the flight from BGK to Krabi? Thanks

Yes thats my point. We need to know an amount and at the moment he is not entitled to an increase. But his angle is I have given you 90 days notice so come June if the rent calculator says he is entitled to an increase he feels justified in making it. My angle is that he actually needs to give us a figure 90 days before renewal. So my question is which one of us is right?

From Emirates Road you take the junction after MCC, signposted Mushrif etc. Follow that road until as SanddyDog says you pass the Municipality Vets, there is a slip road just after you cross the roundabout, take the slip and turn right and then left. Follow the track up you will see stables on the left, just passed the stables there is a track on left follow along there and you will see the sanctuary on the left.

My dd did one at Repton and said it wasn't very good, in fact she never finished what we had paid for, and we were refunded the difference as they hadn't supplied what was advertised. But she tried one of esports camps and loved it, the instructors appeared more enthusiastic and familiar with interacting with the kids than at the first place. However, I believe the camp at Repton is run by a different group now so may be better than our experience.

Have used it at DLC, American Hospital and City. But I think they stopped at City at the end Jan and were negotiating so not sure if it is reinstated now. It will depend on the level of cover also as to what you can claim. A friend uses Nicholas and Asp and has paid and claimed.

Thailand healthcare is good and they want to make sure your relative is fine.Apart from the obvious rabies issue, rodents carry all sort of diseases so it is a precautionary measure.Hope it all goes well. I agree, they have been going for over 20 years and spend 3 or 4 months at a time there, they were there when the Tsunami hit and my dad was ferrying people upto the hospital in the back of a pickup truck.. Bless them all. No concern with the treatment he will get, just surprised...

I've been bitten by a rat - at university when I was working with them. Like you said, I had to go have a tetanus shot immediately but no hospital stay. Perhaps there is some kind of virus or disease in the mice population of Thailand??? Yes I was wondering that, after hearing about the massive rats that are being hunted and shot in Teran (may have got the place wrong but am sure thats what they said on the radio).. so big even the cats are terrified...... Guess I will have to wait and hope she emails me some more info later...

I was bitten as a child, it was quite painful and we went to hospital, I remember alot of ice around the area and them painting red stuff on it.... I don't recall any injections and am fairly sure that alot wont require any treatment. They can be fatal but mostly for very young children or those who already have problems with their immune systems. As BMAP says cool places, there used to be hundreds in our garden shed back in Oz. Have found 2 in our garden here, male in a pot and a rather beautiful female who had made a nest down the side of one of the patio doors that was never used. Just hose doors and windows down and have a good spray around the garden once or twice a week so they can't get cozy....

Hmmm, I hadn't heard from my folks for a while so thought I'd better check in on them just to make sure they are keeping out of trouble!!! You know how these wrinklies can be.... They are in Thailand for a few months, so I got mother a little tablet and showed her how to use email just in case something happened to my dad. Anyway, she replied this morning saying he has been bitten by a mouse which did make me chuckle.... But then she said they have been keeping him in hospital.... and she was on her way to try to see him.... So I wondered what the protocol is, I would have assumed clean the bite, tetanus and maybe a rabies shot....but was a little shocked that he is in hospital.

Hi Newbie, Happy Kings mum here! Is the place you are hoping for at the original site in Umm Suqeim? If so, the expansion took place last September (from 2 to 4 classes per year) and no further expansion on that site is planned. We were new to Kings in September and have been delighted with it. It is a lovely school with a relatively small personal feel, great staff and decent standards. It is also very well run in our opinion. However, parents that have been with the school for longer may feel it has changed for the worse with the expansion, and maybe it has lost something relative to what it was before. But without that comparison it certainly feels pretty good to us, and we came from a tiny London prep. If it is for the new Kings due to open in Nad al Sheba in September, then obviously I can't comment other than to say that I thought Id read that that again was meant to be 4-5 form entry, ie half the size of many Dubai schools. You would have to check that is the case though. If I come across the source of that information again I'll let you know. We were told to jump at the chance of a Kings place and took a leap of faith. So glad we did! HTH. As I mentioned earlier I have no first hand experience of Kings, but have friends who moved their kids from Repton last year to join Kings and they haven't looked back. And as VictoriaM says, I think the ones who have a bit of a gripe are the parents who have been there a while and seen the school double. However, it is still at least half the number of classes per year group when compared to the likes of Repton who have 10 sometimes 11 per year.

I don't know what cuisine Brit balti is! It certainly isn't Indian. I know it's a British version of Indian but their butter chicken was .ike a completely different dish! Oh dear, we have the vindaloo and dhansak and very similar to what we would get at home.... Royal BBQ did really nice fresh breads, whereas the Wok was just like reheated frozen stuff you get in the supermarket....

Ok, it is very difficult to advise as each child is different. Our dd was at a small prep that was very family orientated and caring, small class size of 15 with a teacher and a TA. Our first choice was DESS but couldn't guarantee a place and dh wouldn't sign contract until we had a definite placement. Long story short we went to Repton. For us sadly it hasn't worked, academically probably the nearest you will find here to a UK prep. But that is the only comparison to a UK prep I can vaguely relate to it. However, for others it works and they are very happy with it, I am sure some will post. So depending on your expectations it may or may not work. I have no experience of the others, only that I believe KINGS is expanding and may possibly not have as many happy parents as it used to. If I had the chance again, I would definitely go smaller, non profit school and I would look for teaching staff that have a little more life experience.

Bless her, is it not possible to speak with your vet and see if they feel it woukd appropriate to keep her with them until the collar can come off. At least this way she will be safe and somebidy there in case she gets into trouble. You may find that once it has healed and she has the collar off she will be much happier. My dogs are only 8 but the last time they were knocked out they were zombies for 2 days, so at her age I am sure it will take much longer. But as other poster said, I think you just know when the time has come, but if you think she will recover then an interim stay at the vets may work.

The landlord also no longer has to say the 12 months notice is because of selling/moving in themselves/major renovation they can just say you have 12 months notice to vacate. They also said that notice via email is sufficient it no longer has to be by notarized mail. edited by starsouthern on 26/02/2013 But newspaper article says: Termination of a lease by the landlord if he wants to sell, or move in himself, must be given one year Jeez, that makes 7 families in our area that are all in the same boat!!! Very confusing. I was hoping we would be ok. Our LL has given us a years notice to vacate, but not for himself/renovations, but because he wants more rent/less cheques. He also advised us by email not by public notary. Thought we would be ok not to leave, but what SS writes it seems this is not the case. Here we go again!
