went to mauritius for my honeymoon in 1977,it was paradise. went back 2 years ago to the same place and wow it had changed, still really lovely but not so secluded and empty as it was sooooooooooo long ago. mauritius is a lovely place to visit, we've stayed twice in grand baie, latest time was at the merville beach hotel - grand baie ( its between a 3-4 start hotel ). we loved it. for us after living in dubai and experiencing summer sea temperatures here, the sea was too cold for us to swim. we loved revisiting curepipe, port louis, generally touring the island inland and coastal areas is lovely. we went to see the giant tortoises and the botanical gardens, saw gigantic water lily plants. its beautiful. if you go have a lovely time.

we lived in ghaya residence which is walking distance to difc, its on S Z road but apartments at the back facing difc are the best. we had a cat and a small yorkie when we lived there and many other people had small pets. we lived there 2 years ago. give them a call. apartments are good size and have balconies for washing etc. we had a 3 bed and had a sep. laundry room as well. its near 21st century, the metro station, etc found this link online - as far as i know they still do appliances in with rent. http://www.dubai.cluttons.com/property/dubai-sheikh-zayed-road-residential-rental-apartments/szr-rm-001.aspx good luck

we have always enjoyed irish village christmas day, its very relaxing if the sun is shining otherwise it can be a bit chilly/breezy. depends what your expectations are. each time we have been its been very very busy, if you are happy with turkey and trimmings and baked gammon that you serve yourself to from stations inside then you wont go wrong for around 160 per adult. we havent ever been disappointed with the food here on christmas day. service can be hit and miss regarding drinks, but its usually packed and busy. u can always go to the bar yourself. its usually full of families, kids running around on the grass and bouncy castle and face painting - we love the relaxed atmosphere of turning up in long dress and sandals or shorts and tee shirts. santas not great but he turns up - the presents a bit rubbish and small but it is free but then likeablility depends on the child, our grand kids loved their ben ten musical present last year as they are quite young - some older kids around 12 poo pooed it but then you cant please everyone. there are lots of sweets inside where the kids can just help themselves ( and some adults do too ! :)) depends if you want posh or relaxed. where ever you decide to go merry christmas and hope you have a lovely day.

Satwa has some fabric shops but naief would be better since you get better variety hmmmmm as a satwa resident and frequent visitor to naif, i would say they are on a par. naif can be a little cheaper. sawta is full of joy when you walk through it which wins for me! - DITTO this comment. i love walking around satwa. in fact i love old dubai around the creek too. you cant beat an abra ride or two or three.:)

we went the past 2 years with a group of friends and family with children and we had a lovely time relaxing outside in the sun whilst the kids had a lovely time on the bouncy castle, the grass and having faces painted. the food was fine, no complaints from any of us, turkey with trimmings and gammon. was fine. u serve yourself from food stations inside. you just have to queue for your drinks at the bar, unless you get service from the table. all in all we have enjoyed it. this year its around 160 per adult and not sure charge for kids. santa admitedly is not great but he does come and the gift is small but it is 'free!' each year its been sold out, not sure this year. where ever you go, merry christmas and have a great time.

nothing to do with spinneys but when i lived in scotland i took my mum to stirling shopping and we went for tea in a little cafe i liked, mum wanted a choc eclair which has cream in it. girl behind counter said they came out of the freezer half hour ago. mum asked if they were still frozen, so girl behind counter poked her finger inside one and declared it to be ok. needless to say we just had tea - no cake! :)

I dont know where your mother lives but in most parts of the UK there is a place where you can go which demonstrates all the assistive aids elderly or disabled people might need. They can try out different things. It is usually staffed by occupational therapists. Get her to ask about this at the local health centre or ask her GP for a referral to an occupational therapist who will do a home visit and assess what might be useful. thank you so much, i am in dubai shes in uk and she doesnt know this info. i will note it down and email her this thanks so much again. very helpful.

oh dear i do so feel for you. i experienced same when i lived in africa my friend left to go home to australia, one of the problems with a transcient society, i was so befeft i felt so utterly lost without her. i am not one to make friends easily as i am quite shy and tend to be a homebody, but i really know how you feel. i have no easy answer for you. it just takes time to come to terms with it. i cant say get back out there and make new friends because i didnt and then i had to go home to uk then here to dubai. i still havent found that one special friend/s and it gets harder for me as i get older. but that doesnt mean it will be the same for you. i wish you all the best in your quest for a new best friend and peace in your heart when your dear friend leaves.

Dubai marine beach resort and spa has an ok Italian but it is right on the beach and has awesome views... That is what I was going to suggest - AMAZING! lovely location and view if you have table right overlooking sea, otherwise no view and the food is dreadful, went twice to see and both times truly awful food.

I just saw your response WG! You're right, of course. We've just had visitors for 3 weeks straight and I think the stress of being nice to each other all the time in front of guests got too much for us and we've been blowing off a bit of steam. FFx if its any use, le meridien al garhoud from 16th i think till 24th in lobby christmas carols by staff choir 7.15pm to 8pm. crowne plaza have a great staff choir each year from now ( double check this) till 24th, 6 - 7pm, upstairs top of escalator and santa comes too with a small gift for the kids and every year we have been small sandwiches and a piece of cake for everyone. we go every year, its so happy and jolly and adults and kids can join in the choir. we love it.

Was at the antique museum a couple of weeks ago but didn't see anything like that. Have definitely seen them in the Moroccan Pavillion at Global Village though. Not many, but a few... thanks for that info HM.
