the girls are so samey samey boring this year and sooooooooo sick of the bland ballads - so glad that annoying naima was voted off last week - she got on my last nerve! the guys are much much more talented, i love Paul mcd. his smile makes me so happy and i love his quirkiness. casey is amazing when he played and sang in the earlier rounds - wow! jacob lusk is good but recently been sounding more like a cruise ship singer, he should stick with his own style. i wish steve tyler was more like the earlier rounds he was so funny. you know what i'me saying dog! :)

what would 235k year give you in AR ( at the moment we are in a 5 bed 4,000sq ft villa ) are there any comparable / similar thanks. my son is also looking for a 2 bed of reasonablely cheapish rent where would they be. walking distance to shops would be nice but not essential, no children so no need to be near the school and no need to visit the mosque , are there any nurseries in AR thanks.

does anyone live here can you tell me what its like. i know it has no facilities but whats it like re maintenance if renting, where do you rent or have you bought are the fees extortionate. how easy is it to get in and out of, how far off is driving to airport, dubai mall, mall of emirates etc. where are nearest shops. are there any childrens nurseries nearby and junior schools. can you get taxis to and from - how easy is it to get one. of impossible. what internet and phone connections do you have there. is it dewa or other cooling. where is nearest places for dinner/drinking - hw far etc. i am particularily interested in the marbella/ valencia/ grenada with the central internal courtyard. would u recommend. thanks ladies. edited by fairwater on 03/04/2011

i too have 2 red-ear sliders maybe slightly bigger than yours. We had our tank custom made through a pet shop in abu dhabi. Good news is, we purchased a turtle tub from USA and we're waiting for shipment to finally arrive in about 2 weeks time. If you can hang on for 2-3 weeks, maybe my husband will be willing to sell our existing tank. It's all glass, about 2m long and a mesh top lid so we put the UVB and heating dome lights on top. We used it for 3 years. Can post again the actual measurement if you're keen. yes please measurements would be great and if you do sell you can let me know the price, thanks very much.

thank you all for your suggestions - will dig into it all some more tomorrow. @ Sanddy-Dogg - I am still waiting to hear from Emirates Holidays as we have asked them for info/quote - 4 days later.... we recently got a quote for this month and it was around 17,500 - 20,500 as we were thinking of spending an extra night in nairobi. their mara special thats on at the moment 1 night nairobi and 3 nights in mara both fairmont hotel chain. thats for 2 persons for the big cat special 5 days 4 nights. but its only valid till end of march. 1 free night in norfolk fairmont nairobi the night you land in kenya. 3 nights in mara safari club ( which is in the wet lands bordering the mara not actually in it. i have been told its in a conservation area outside the mara.) its fly in and fly out. apparently game drives are by 4x4 but in the brochure it says micro bus

we've stayed at kichwa tembo tented camp it was amazing but its not in the emirates brochure. try to find a holiday that takes you out in a 4x4 as you cant view game in a micro/mini bus. also try to find one that flies you into the camp, dont drive its scary and takes hours and hours on very bad roads.

We stayed at the Mara Club as well a couple of years ago and can also recommend it. Reading Court's post brought back some happy memories of waking up and seeing the hippos in the river:-) You also see lots of baboons on the drive to the Club from the airstrip and the drivers from the Club are very good and know the trails insdie out. The tents are fantastic - we went in winter and a hot water bottle was put in the bed every night. We spent a night in Nairobi - can't recall the name of the hotel but it had also just been taken over by the Fairmont and then went to the Mara Club, we were only intending to stay 2 nights but we liked it so much we stayed longer. the hotel in nairobi is the norfolk fairmont.

Recently stayed at Mara Safari Club which is a Fairmont property -- it was absolutely amazing. Beautiful location right on Mara River, hippoes swimming outside your tent, saw all of the big 5 animals including black rhinos and leopard, lovely swimming pool and luxurious tents. Fig Tree Camp in the Mara is a more affordable option as well. we were looking to go here but found out its not in the game reserve but in the wet lands outside the park. did you go into the mara at all and was the entry fee in the cost of your holiday? as at 75 us dollars per person per visit its expensive if not. does it include game drives in 4x4's? did you book with emirates? thanks

i would take the shrimp out and reheat the sauce then add shrimp at last minute to re heat. i wouldnt cook rice in advance tho. cook when needed and cook only how much is needed. you cant be so challenged if you made thai curry and soup, they are not soooooooooo easy. well done, i love both yum yum.

14th is a dry night, the cellar sent out their offer and it said it was a dry night from 6pm. you could do a valentines lunch if you wish to drink and arent working of course. you cant go wrong with irish village for a seat outside and relaxed atmosphere ( altho it is pubby ) the board walk is a lovely venue and relaxed overlooking the creek. the warehouse outside is lovely esp with the weather being so nice at the moment. madinat jumerah left bank outside. all are fine with kids. where ever you decide to go have a lovely time.

as a short person i find shopping difficult here - clothes are far tooooo long. the styles are so frumpy in places like m&s and debenhams and the cheaper shops are for string bean type figures. i do attempt to shop but often come home feeling very frustrated and fed up at finding nothing as nothing ever seems to look good. i do hit the shops in uk when i am there and come back with a nice load of things to wear. dont you feel sometimes you go out with the best of intentions, do the make up , wear nice undies and still come back feeling like something the cat dragged in and no bags. arrgh.

hi there, be aware that its not clean or hygenic in sri lanka as you are taking 3 year old roads one way each way/traffic and distances are time consuming. everywhere takes forever to get to. elephant orphanges, do not go to the government one its dreadful and very sad. they have no interest in rehabilitating or re introducing elephants to the wild, it is a sad sad place. tea plantations are interesting but not for a 3 year old. you say you have no interest in beach - its a good job as the coast is not very nice. we stayed in colombo in the cinnamon grand hotel and its really lovely, it lives up to its 5 stars unlike many others, cant comment on the taj tho in colombo. cant comment on driver as our tour was part of emirates holiday. good luck with your plans an have a nice time.

done a runner maybe, still sleeping, researching what spa treatment to have today and where, researching where to slap the cash or swipe the cards today, berating the poor maid for waking them up. at the gym, at work and working, ah, the possibilities are endless. :)
