Have a look at http://www.dog-world.com.au/dog-giving-birth.htm - or google a bit more - sounds to me like things could be starting to happen, this tells you what to expect (and when you might need to call a vet) - though can't help you on the vet bit, I can cross my fingers for you that you won't need one :) thanks its her first birth at nearly 3 so i hope she will be fine.

shes panting, which she doesnt do. shes so restless up and down on the sofa and around the house. shes scratching the sofa, like digging a hole. should i take her to my bedroom when i go to bed. as i am worried if she goes into labour i wont know if shes down stairs that she needs help. hence the question about vet or 24 emergency vet who can come out to the house. thanks.

we will be in dubai, will probably walk to the airport meridien or over to irish village. we used to enjoy going to oscars when we lived on sheikh zayed road. the hastle with taxis just isnt worth travelling too far unless you are staying over. be prepared to spend a small fortune for your nye eve in dubai, the prices are usually eye poppingly rediculous!

Three abortive attempte to land in Sri Lanka due to torrential rain, the third time shooting back up at 45 degrees seconds before landing. 4th attempt successful, justbefore the fuel ran out!! Only time ever I've been afraid in flight. OMG !

Fairwater I've seen pictures taken from the air where you can see the sharks swimming right off the coast in SA. Not sure if it was in Durban, but that put me off swimming in the sea (and sea!) for a while :D edited by muurtje on 23/10/2011 all along the coastline particularily amanzimtoti have lots of sharks, we were there around the time of jaws movie. !

pissouri, colombia beach hotel. not so touristy as the other resorts in cyprus, more on the smaller side. and def. a chill place. we totalled relaxed there. just check temps now tho. as it it october. sri lanka touring the sights is def. not relaxing. its hard work. driving everywhere takes hours and traffic is awful as is driving. altho i have to say the sights are good. but again you are hastled to have someone hold your hand to climb this rock or that step. u just cant relax and enjoy the sights at all. the coast, didnt like at all, grey seas and very very rough. a tourist from our hotel drowned in the sea when we were there. stick a toe on the beach and you are not left alone for a minute, they just dont take no for an answer, no matter where u go. after the first couple days we just stayed within the grounds of hotel as we just got sick of it. we have been to patong beach hotel in phuket a number of times and altho it is touristy, we manage to chill no end on our beach bed. we come back totally chilled from thailand. where ever you go hope you have a great time.

Went to see The Change Up, it was okay but every second word was the "F" word and that was just too much for me. It wasn't necessary and I'm hardly a prude but who actually swears that much in real life? i will skip that one then, i cant stand it when there is just swearing and cursing in a film when theres no reason.

Yes, but not Al Hamra, although I am there several times a week. The RB towers look lovely. It's a shame there's no convenience store within walking distance - a little Spinneys would have been fantastic, but it's nice that you're within walking distance of the yacht club and a few restaurants fronting onto the marina. Also walking distance to A&E if you like to partake :) I Didnt realise that there were restaurants in walking distance, wow thats great, and a yacht club, not that we are sailors.. i saw signs for a&e, where abouts is it, i know where mmi is. yes they could do with a store for sure.thank you edited by fairwater on 20/10/2011

we stayed at a tented camp when we left kenya after living there for 2 years, it is called KICHWA TEMBO, wonderful. the other times we went to the mara we stayed in the mara serena lodge, thats also lovely and cheaper than a tented camp. you can find both on tripadvisor. dont go by mini van/bus from nairobi to mara its a long trip and driving leaves a lot to be desired and roads not great. flying is quick and easy from wilson airport. take care in nairobi, taxi door to door is best esp. after dark. the market is great but expect to be hastled. take anti malarials - you need to start before you go on holiday, take sprays for your body and make sure you get room spray as well and the anti malarial coils to burn in your room. try not to expose too much skin. kenya is wonderful and kenyans such lovely people. have a great time ps if you get to go to the coast go to watamu bay, its fantastic ( ocean sports for mega chilling or hemmingways next door ) edited by fairwater on 20/10/2011

thanks so much birchy and pn for great info. so so helpful. i have copied and pasted to my documents. where do we buy harrisons? can we give him the dried fruit from bakery or nut section in carrfour for example? how do we know if hes eating enough? at the moment we have some food from vet as well as parrot food - trill. we give him blanched mixed veg twice a day, some chopped fresh fruit and the occasional sun flower seed( noted not to many) and occasional nut. he loves blueberries. we give him some chopped cheese and some sliced chicken which hes not too keep on at the moment. its a bit of trial and error at the mo. where is the nad al sheba vet? his name ( we dont know if hes male or female ) so we have gone with a male african name as he is an african grey - hes named after shaka zulu, the famous king of the zulus - ZULU. ( yes we lived in natal - richards bay ) hes a lovely little thing and so chatty. he is always listening to us chatting to him and singing. hes already learned to come and sit on our arms and on the back of the dinning room chair. but my worry is how do you or can you toilet train them to some extent, as i dont fancy getting poop on me all the time. thanks again for the info.

i love lush products, they smell, well, so lush! i love it when the christmas products come out especially the ones with glitter or sheen in / on them, feels lovely and festive. but i have to say body shop festive vanilla spice with sheen is devine. the hair products are good and last forever, buts its a while since i used them as i now use label m. so i am not up to date with the latest ones. the one minus with the bar shampoos are its hard to get them out of the tin. my mum keeps buying me bath bombs even tho i dont like to bath, ( I shower !) but they make great foot soaks and you dont need to use much to get a great smell.

There's a place called Maison Chic. If you leave Al Hamra towards RAK city, go straight over the roundabout and it's about 3km on the left. It's a single story flat-roofed building, brown with orange writing. It's right next door (shares the building) to a bright green tyre place. The prices are reasonable but I've seen a "To Rent" sing on the windows so not sure if they're closing. They did have a warehouse in the industrial area opposite Al Hamra but I don't know if it's still there. A lot of their stuff is imported from Indonesia. Taxis are easy to get, there's a rank at Al Hamra mall so they don't have to come far to RB. The umber us 800 1700 and that covers a couple of taxi companies. thanks for that sanddy dogg - are you living there? we went down to inspect our apt. last weekend, cant beleive how they have come on and the facilities, we were very pleased after such a long delay.
