was just logging on to say exactly what DubaiCat said. They have the workshops there - in one of the passages to the left of the entrance. Any of the shops will show you where, or even security might. I go a few times a year to get my ring polished and sit inside the workshop with them while its done HTH

I know its super pricey but have you looked at the Bugaboo Donkey? I have just got it for my twins and love love LOVE it. its designed to also be for 2 babies/children of different ages. John Lewis UK have an export department and it works out the same price to have it delivered here to your door as it does to buy it there because of the VAT deduction. Although you do need to pay a customs fee to the Aramex man when its delivered.

in response to those asking if it hurts, i had DDs ears pierced at 6 months. She cried when i had to hold her tight (her head with one hand and hands n body with the other) but her crying did not change when the doctor did the piercing. She stopped crying as soon as i held her properly. They used emla numbing cream before doing it but she was completely normal for the rest of the day and slept like usual that night. Sooo... i feel if it hurt her then her cry would have increased / changed when it was done or she would have been cranky that day or not slept well that night... and none of those things happened.

I had a horrible long labour with DD and it was also everything i didnt hope it to be, with a long and painful recovery. My second delivery 8 weeks ago was my twins and boy what a difference! i think the hospital played a huge part in it but i was far more relaxed and trusting in myself... and i felt I / my body knew what to do (or at least i was relaxed enough to listen to my body and go with it!) Also once they were here, i was automatically a much more relaxed mum than the first time round HTH

Beyond the Beach tried to sell me a suit for a 1 year old and said don't worry, babies grow fast. hmmm lol! If you get the Little Swimmers swim nappies, they are really good (and all UK public pools tell mums of small children that they need to wear them under their swimsuit anyway) and come up quite high, are study and grippy! So you think they can just wear the swim nappy? I guess if they're not in direct sun they dont need their top half covered.... Stovetop - Baby Splash is a mummy and baby swimming class for 3 months -23 months and then Toddler Splash 24months - 3/4years. its great and the babies love it, mostly :) I did it with my DD from 5 months old and now she's nearly 3. http://babysplashdubai.com/upload/babysplash/110627/

I had my twins at Al Wasl 7.5 weeks ago and had the most amazing experience. I had a natural delivery and the midwives were incredible. I'm shocked at how the nurse was Sandy. One of my boys was in NICU and i was struggling to meet the demands of the boy with me and pump enough milk to send to the NICU. One night i was exhausted, DS was nursing nonstop, i was sore etc. When i called the nurse for help her solution was that i pump a little and she'd give him with a syringe while i got a little nap. "Formula" was like a swear word. Even the NICU kept telling me to send more EBM. I did prefer some of the nurses over others but overall it was great

DD was induced at 39 weeks (interferring Obgyn) and my twins arrived at 36.5 weeks. My SiL spent a month over the summer in the UK and flew back at 36 weeks. She's now 39 weeks and still waiting for the LO to arrive

so I know we all want everybody to think we are perfect and we all know that we aren't perfect at all. I know I had my share of bad parenting but we do what we can to get us through every day. being almost always alone at home with my son I often in mornings give my son a muffin and put mickey mouse club house on my cellphone for him to watch which gives me about one extra hour of sleep. i've let him play over an hour in the tub so I can finally get to cut my nails and pluck my eyebrows i've bribed him with chips so he would stay calm in his stroller while i do the grocery now i know im not the only one. so was wondering what other tricks are there. who else has done something out of desperation there must be some of your post that got deleted by mistake... where are your confessions??! ;) abby_n_christina - pinching? hahaha! you mustve been exhausted to even think of it! lol. cant post my confessions - the linch mob will be round to take away my kids!

i'm muslim and also find the complete shut down unnecessary. i am not fasting now as my babies are just one month old and wasnt fasting every day when bfeeding my DD. However, i didn't eat and drink openly because i didn't want to have anyone else make me feel uncomfortable or even deal with the issue of police if someone reported me. There are some restaurants open in the day and prayer rooms, feeding rooms, even fitting rooms in the malls where you can nurse and drink relaxed... thats just my recommendation.

cummin seeds-Fennel seeds and dried fenugreek leaves boiled in a 'tea' did wonders for my supply Didn't you find it made you smell? I get very hot especially at night. I was drinking it in DDs bfeeding time and hated how it made me smell :(

orchard - i was induced but had DD naturally ... albeit after 26 hours and foreceps but no csection. Just hoping for my labour to start naturally this time as my body really wasn't ready last time and therefore things took ages. well, last night the pain in my pelvis and lower back got a lot worse. walking to the toilet had my eyes tear up... This morning there was more plug and now blood stained again (sorry tmi!) and needed help coming downstairs. Leaving now to the hospital - its my regular appointment but talking the bags with us!

btw - i noticed yesterday i had a big contraction and then went to the loo and there was a very big clear-ish gloopy lump (sooo sorry TMI!). Same thing happened the night before - big contraction and then very big lump. could this be more of the plug? could i be dialating more?

at that age i would have put DD in a vest and tracksuit for the plane for a day flight. Layers are a very good idea because its so hot here and warm in the airport especially if in a carrier and then the plane gets chilly... night flight i always change her into pjs just before boarding

Thanks ladies... still pregnant! Having a second session of acupuncture tonight and then see my doctor tomorrow so lets see! Its amazing how everything can seem to be happening and then suddenly it all stops! Kinda wish they didn't examine me to see i'm 3cm on tuesday - ignorance is bliss :) Have a feeling my doctor might want to start helping things along after i see her tomorrow - was induced with DD so really really want this to happen as naturally as possible... but i guess this time I'm not starting from zero.

We just had ours done for the exact same reason. We used Fix R Us - they came to inspect to see what needed to be done (this is dhs75 which is then deducted from the final bill). We have a 4 bedroom house and just needed the ducts cleaning out - the machines themselves were clean. The charge was dhs1,600. My only criticism is that they weren't good when it came to time. First time they were to come we agreed 3pm and then i got a call at 1pm asking for directions coz they were on the way. The second time, to start the job, they were an hour late (but did a good job nonetheless). The third time they came, to adjust a vent, they were 30 minutes late. But i would use them again. 04 321 2616

On friday night i started vomiting randomly and then was fine afterward. Since then i've been feeling nauseous on and off and feeling a lot of pressure down and pelvic tightening. Been having lower back pain too especially in my tail bone... I mentioned it to the doctor at my checkup yesterday and she examined me - i was 3cm dialated. The examination killed and she was going to do a sweep but i said no. Since then i've been having brown spotting - i was induced with DD and remember the mucus plug being...well, mucus-y. is this spotting normal after an internal exam when you're dialated? thanks in advance ladies edited by farasha202 on 22/06/2011

This is a horrible situation to be put in - can't begin to imagine how you're feeling. I think its ridiculous that they are no longer allowed to freeze embryos ... Is there anyway you could transfer the embryos to another centre in another country? The cost of this might be huge though :s

thanks so much ladies... she was so lovely. Felt very comfortable with her and i really appreciated that she respected my decisions regarding DD's vaccinations etc... The nurses/midwives there were so lovely as well - really helped me with DD during her injection since i couldn't hold her on my lap as my belly is too big. Dear Lemondrops, I cannot beginning to imagine what you are going through and it sounds like you are doing incredibly well! With ur DD2's feeding problem she's still in the 75th percentile for both height and weight?! WOW! Well done! DH's cousins son was not a preemie but when he was born his mother knew there was something wrong. Every doctor dismissed her concerns to the point friends and family felt she must have PND. Eventually her concerns turned out to right and were only realised by doctors here when the baby became sick due to malnutrition. Long story short, noone could help him here and they went to London. He is now doing so much better. His problems are very different to what your DD2 has but is there any chance you could go over there for help? (sorry if someone has already recommended this) Lots of hugs xxx

My helper put the turkey cold cuts in the freezer and now i don't really know what to do. Please advise ladies. I got them for DD to make sandwiches... once i defrost them are they safe to eat? Do i need to heat them? will they need to be cooked and eaten within 24 hours (treated like raw defrosted meat)? They are the cooked kind that you can just use cold in a sandwich.

We've been going to Baby splash at the ladies club since DD was 5 months old and she LOVES it! She's now 2.5yrs old and in toddler splash. The beginning is very much playing and having fun in the water, getting them used to being in the pool, getting their face wet, going under water etc. As they get older the focus is more on technique and DD is nearly swimming alone. from what i remember most of the classes are around 10 - 11am... we do the 11am class and we're the last of the morning

Moonbean she is 2 and 4 months. Just got home now from a simple trip to homes r us to get a candle - wanna throw it in the garbage now. We left, tried to get in the car and bam! the screaming started. She lashed out at the helper, at me, refused to sit and was simply hysterical. Why? Car seat has never been negotiable her entire life, no exceptions! After 15 minutes i suggested she sit on the regular seat with a seat belt and she didnt want that either. So what did she want?! to be free in the car? Since when has that been an option for anyone in my car?! finally got home and she was hysterical for probably an hour until she passed out on the stairs and now she's in bed. We've had a helper before and she's used to helpers at my inlaws and mothers house. When she's in a mood to kick off she doesn't want anyone. In fact at times i feel helpers exacerbate the situation as they get scared by her negative behaviour and so she sees a reaction - if i scream when she tries to put my shoes on she stops so i'll scream every time she tries and i wont have to wear them... if that makes sense

she initiated the potty training - she would refuse to wear her nappy and even ask to sit on the toilet. Then she stopped doing pee in her nappy at nursery and would only pee when taken to the loo with the other kids who were out of nappies. Even when she got in infection last week the doctor said let her wear nappies to have a break and she wouldn't pee in them. Only when i took off the nappy and put her on the toilet would she pee. As for the tantrums, the toilet battles are the least of it (maybe i needed 2 threads :s) I think i just need to find a good child psychologist or behaviorist because i don't think this behaviour is normal and i honestly can't handle these "phases" as they are so unbelievably destructive. (This morning when i thought back to my first post i felt so ashamed. Posting on a public forum to strangers that i can't handle my own 2 year old. What kind of mother does that make me?!)

So DD has been potty trained now for a couple of weeks i think (lost track!) and doing well mashallah. She's still resisting me putting her on the toilet most of the time and doesnt ask to go but when i do get her on she pees. The only accidents we've had have been when she's throwing a tantrum/on the naughty step which is incredibly frustrating of course. I've always been told consistency with babies and kids is the key so from the beginning of potty training, when she'd wake up i'd take her to the bathroom, remove her night nappy, she'd pee and then start the morning. i felt that if i knew when she'd done pee then i'd be able to know when she should go next... But every morning its drama. BIG drama. The last 2 days have been h3ll with her - endless tantrums and screaming about anything and everything. DH is around her half the time that i am and he's at his wits end. Anyway, this morning she wakes up, she gets out of bed and i tell her lets go do pee and then we'll have breakfast and play... and it starts. i get her in the bathroom, take her nappy off showing her its full and heavy and see how much better she feels without it etc. She goes mental me just trying to get her on the loo. The pushing and screaming starts. I walked away saying i'll come back when she's ready to talk properly, leave for a minute go back, shes still screaming,i leave then go back and she's just standing there in pee. But that doesn't calm her down. I then try to wash her legs and the whole time she's pushing me, grabbing at my hands. Its not even 8am and i'm exhausted literally to tears. it started at 7am and its the 3rd day running! My belly is killing from lifting her kicking and screaming into the sink to wash her - something i'm really not supposed to do as have a very high risk pregnancy but i really didnt see the other option. Had she been calm i could've told her wait and brought a cloth or bowl but had i left her she would've slipped on the tiles. The last time her behaviour reached this stage i ended up in hospital for 5 days with a threatened miscarriage. i didnt see her for those days as my MIL thought it would upset her to see me. I was then on semi bed rest so couldn't do much with her at all... i really dont want it to get to that again. I dont know what else to do! My DH doesn't agree / see the point of cousellors in genernl, whatever the reason. Sorry its a very long post but is she reacting to something? we have a new helper who started nearly 3 weeks ago and DD loves playing with her - she asks to play with her! Yes i'm pregnant but i'm still doing all activities with DD and there havent been any changes to the house yet. TIA

Thanks SherylR ... hoping its not stopping her from peeing. She's not letting me put the cream on her as much as the doctor prescribed. She seemed to be doing much better by the next morning - no more blood, no crying when she did pee etc. so wary to force her. Will have to just keep an eye on her
