Thx for your reply Clairhdp. We have thought about moving closer to Repton but like you we really love living in the Meadows area, we have very fond memories and some friends there too. But the drive to Repton is something I'm not looking forward to so we may very well move closer. Initially we're staying in a company apartment to give us time to find a villa. I'm sure the Repton buses are in great condition with good drivers but I'm not quite ready to put my just turned 7 year old on a bus! Good to hear that the roundabout is finished, I remember it being a bit of a nightmare a few years ago. Will check out all of the locations you mentioned including AR! Many thanks!

Good luck with your move BMAP. In a state of desperation I contacted a few schools around the Meadows area, the woman I spoke to said that although they are full at the moment, she advised me to apply on-line as she explained that last year they were full at this time and then by mid August they had several vacancies for the early years. So you never know, you may just be in luck.

Hi Plum2, We lived in Dubai before coming to Sydney two years ago and will most probably look for a house in the Meadows area again. My husband will be traveling frequently but I'm sure he will help out with the school runs when he can. To be honest I'm quite ready to put up with a bit of driving this year, have had the luxury of walking to school here in Sydney... a real luxury:-)

Thanks girls, assuming you are girls! I contacted Gems Wellington in SO and they are full. Just wondering whether we should apply via online registration to a few schools in the hope that a spot may become available over the summer. I will contact Star International in Mirdiff - thanks for that.

Hi! We are moving to Dubai in August and we're having trouble finding a British Curriculum School for our 4 year old son (he will turn 5 in October). Our 7 year old has a place at Repton, however there are no available spaces for our younger son's year group (Reception) until 2012. I'm sure we are not the first family to be in this situation. Is there anyone out there that may be able to shed some light on the school situation. Is there a possibility that spaces will become available during the summer as families withdraw their applications? Or is this very unlikely? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!
