No worries ladies. Redleaf, I'm due on 9th March (so may just bump into you in the maternity halls at City!). Fi x

Hiya ladies, Redleaf & coconnell, I've just heard a rumour (from a very well placed source) that American Hospital might be losing staff in February... Will keep you posted if I hear anything more on this cause it could very well be a deal breaker! Fi x

Morning ladies, redleaf, aw isn't Dr. Sant great?! So caring and approachable (especially compared to my previous doctor who shall remain nameless)! Thanks for your feedback on City & American, I guess we'll just have to go along to each and see which one is a better fit for us. Fi x

Hi coconnell, Hmm sounds like you've got the right idea of sticking with Dr Raj for the delivery, especially if you had such a wonderful experience last time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! We've not actually been for a tour of either hospital yet, think that we'll do it next weekend though. Do you just have to call up on the day and ask if they're free to show you around? Don't want to just turn up unannounced and get turned away. I'm with Dr Rosalie Sant who thankfully delivers at both American & City. I asked her if she could recommend one over the other but she says that they're basically on par at the mo, City used to be too busy but has sharpened up their act recently. One of my friends gave birth at American and was really happy with the level of care overall but was not at all impressed by the guy who did the post-natal checkups (she said that he seemed overly rough with the baby...but maybe she was just being a tad over-protective of her little bundle of joy). But on the other hand, she said that the lactation consultant is excellent and has heard not so great things about the lactation consultant at City. Oh well, hopefully we'll get a gut feeling when we go to visit the hospitals next weekend...otherwise it's gonna have to be eenie meanie miney mo! Fi x

Ayda247, aww you poor thing, that's rubbish having to work until a week before D-day and then getting a measly maternity leave entitlement! :( Hope your colleagues cut you a lot of slack during those last few weeks at work! I guess I should consider myself lucky to be working for a UK company that is giving me 29 weeks of maternity leave. Am still dreading taking bubs to nursery at the tender age of 6 months...but I suppose that's gonna be an emotional time for any mummy, regardless of how old the wee one is! Hope you all have a lovely weekend...and enjoy hitting the DSF baby clothes sales! Fi x

Happy new year to all March mamas, Aussiepup, hope you're feeling better now. Redleaf, my husband and I did the same thing with a highlighter and a baby book and couldn't agree on any names...but then ended up finding 'the one' in the credits roll of a programme on the Discovery Channel....so don't worry, am sure you'll get your inspiration when you least expect it! Ayda247, yep my colleagues are also trying to freak me out about the impending birth, very annoying! When are you working till? I'm gonna try to finish up on 16th Feb, a measly 3 weeks before my due date but the commute from Dubai to Abu Dhabi is getting more and more exhausting as the weeks go by so I guess I'll just play it by ear. Aw ladies, how amazing are those 3D scans?! We had one at 28wks and it was so great being able to see a chubby little baby smiling, opening her eyes and chewing on one of her feet! Am finally starting to think about where to give birth but can't decide between City or American as I've heard good and bad things about both. Any thoughts ladies? Fi x

Hiya everyone, Yikes, can't believe how quickly the weeks are flying by! It's been ages since I logged on as well! Hope you're all keeping really well and enjoying your 2nd trimesters (before we all get huge & uncomfortable in the 3rd trimester!) All is well with our little bubs, I started feeling her kicks at 15wks and they seem to be gradually getting stronger as each day passes. Haven't had any kicks directed towards my ribs yet but plenty of irish dancing on my bladder! Sparkly, yep I'm definitely thinking more about the actual physicalities of labour now and am also planning on going natural! Am hoping that the antenatal classes that we're booked into at Health Bay Polyclinic with Dru Campbell in January will help to ease my worries though. Have also been reading up on hypnobirthing but am getting so confused cause some friends have said that it's a lot of nonsense while one friend said that it really helped her (no pain till 10cm!). Oh and by the way, we've just managed to buy our entire Chicco Cortina 'travel system' for a bargain price of AED 1,200 from the Go Nabit (now Living Social) website! The deal is available for another 2 days. Hope you all have a lovely National Day weekend! Fi x

Hi to all of my fellow March Mamas! I'm also due in March (4th) with my first baby and am very excited that I'm finally starting to 'show' (as opposed to just looking bloated for the past 3 months!). Sincere apologies to all of the morning sickness sufferers but I managed to have a great first trimester with absolutely no morning sickness (unusual cause I have a very sensitive stomach at the best of times!) and only a bit of lower back pain and generally wanting to sleep for 20 hours a day. Am probably getting a bit ahead of myself but when are you all planning to book your antenatal classes? I was eyeing up the Healthbay Clinic in Jumeirah because the midwife Dru Campbell's Friday morning classes have come highly recommended. Will probably book the 4wk block of classes in either December or January. And how are you all finding the selection of baby stuff available in the shops out here in Dubai? I'm heading home to Scotland in November for a holiday so am just gonna order most of the smaller stuff from Amazon in the UK and then bring it all back out with me. Just can't believe how much more expensive the likes of Mamas & Papas is out here compared to the UK! Anyway, hope you are all keeping very well and looking forward to your 20wk scans!
