I had problems yesterday as my internet stopped working although the wall box (recently replaced) showed everything was working. I rang Etisalat to ask them to do a reset. In the meantime I did a hard reset on my time capsule (to check that the problem wasn't there). After half a day of trying to reconnect the TC to the Apple and getting the green light again, the internet still wasn't getting through. It worked for 5mns last night and then went back to showing 0.0.0.1 as an ISP address. This morning a proper ISP was showing and finally I was able to have internet again. I think it was Etisalat all along (they tweaked their system for more control) and not Apple as my updates had been done days ago.Obviously Etisalat won't admit to it. IMHO it had to do with the heavy rain. edited by fjcruiser on 09/01/2014 edited by fjcruiser on 09/01/2014

Do you need a GPS for on road and off-road, one you can handheld or just use in your car ? Carrefour, sharaf and HQ Adventure are good places to look for GPS.

I am biased towards Japanese cars and Toyota makes solid, good resalable 2nd hand cars. Prados are expensive but very good. You could look at a Toyota Rav 4 nearly new for that price. It has a smaller engine (4cyl so less guzzling) but it is nice and pleasant to drive and cheap to service. Quite an underrated car so used prices will be better than for Prados where you do pay a premium in this country.

Like a car, you will need to register the boat in order to sell it.It is proof of ownership. What kind of boat is it ? Speedboat or sailboat ? Dubizzle is a good place to advertise. edited by fjcruiser on 20/12/2013

And most of them end up at a rescue center in an appalling state (if they do not die prematurely) as they have been fed the wrong diet and they are psychologically traumatised. I fail to understand how taking one of these exotic animal as a pet is actually saving them.As Nomad says, it is all about status for some.A lot of educating these people needs doing.

If the school is not suggesting anything about your daughter, there is no need to inform the school about OT unless your DD will be taking time off school to do it of course. From experience, unless the school asks specifically if your DD does therapy and why, it is best in Dubai to keep your mouth shut. For some schools doing OT, seeing a psychiatrist for meds or therapy is like a black point on your school record.Your DD may be labelled with dire consequences. As long as the child functions adequately at school whether she takes meds or not, does OT or not is not the school's business.

Korean Airlines had a few successive serious issues some years ago do to the culture of complacency at the company amongst other things. It also meant no one would insure the planes to fly anymore. As a result the airline had to hire expat pilots.Asiana is where Korean Airlines was a few years ago.Complacency and cover-up comes to mind.

Look at K-12. They have the advantage of being recognised by the KHDA which would mean easier transition back to mainstream school. I know at least 2 families who homeschooled via K-12 and went back successfully to mainstream schools (one US and one IB).

Don't waste your time going to Etisalat Head Office. Call 101 and give them the number you received the call from. They should be able to tell you whether it is a genuine Etisalat number. Probably not. Good luck. edited by fjcruiser on 10/12/2013

Shops like Emax, PlugIns or Sharaf sell many brands of EHD. Stick to a well known brand like Buffalo, Seagate, Western Digital for eg as if you have a problem, they can be repaired or exchanged easily. EHD can go wrong as I experienced with a 1TB Buffalo. The good thing was Plug Ins exchanged it for a new one as it failed within a month and wasn't repairable. Some EHD offer 2 or 3 years warranty. If you are concerned about loosing the content of the EHD, have 2 copies of your data just in case!

I also suggest you buy a surge protector for each extender you buy. Normally you will find these by the till. They cost about 50dhs each. The reason is thgese extenders are permanently on and they tend to burn out quite fast (2-3 years on average) and electricity surge cause them to burn out faster.Do not spend vast amount of money on these extenders as you may have to replace them more often than you think. One of these extender will probably be wireless and allow wired connection as well and the other one may just be a wired extender. You will still have to go into your router, remove the encryption password to allow the wireless extender to connect and then put the password in again. To access your router you will have to enter its ip address like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.254.254 or 192.168.2.1 depending on the make of your router. Once you have found which one it is, a window will appear allowing you to go into the router settings. Good luck.

The place you are talking about is just past the 2nd interchange Al Hadiqa/Safa on your right driving towards AD.Take the slip road and it is a Korean supermarket but with many other oriental products as well. You can also find tofu, kaffir lime leaves at Park in Shop on Al Wasl road (same road as JC College/JPS school).

The mother and kittens are unlikely to be a bother at this stage in life. The kittens will stay put until they can follow their mum and look for food themselves.Do not feed them. As you have children, it is very likely they will move out soon as they like peace and quiet. I do not think the Municipality will deal with them on a private property.

Just a couple of questions : Why don't you want your cats to go out ? To me it seems quite un-natural to keep any pet indoors 100% of the time, although if they are brought up this way from a young age it shouldn't be a problem. Next question : your pets will be shedding their hairs - hopefully no one is allergic but if you are, it could be difficult to keep your pets indoors or keep them at all. For the cheapest vet : the municipality vet near Mushrif Park. I do not have personal experience but my friend takes her cats there and the vet are very good. For other ailments, it really depends where you live. We use Safa Vets because we live nearby and like their professionalism.

Vaccinations only last a year, so it is pointless to do it once. People get sickness from cat not from cat flu or feline leukemia but by stroking the cat and not washing their hands properly after. Unless you want to adopt this cat, it is also not a good idea to feed him personally as the poor cat will expect food all the time from you. They do not understand the concept 'I feed you sometimes but not every day'. Adopting a pet is a serious committment and a long term one.It is also a whole package.

All apple hardware are compatible so express will work with extreme. You can actually view youtube videos on the subject of set up. I often refer to those if I have problems myself. Glad to hear your connection is finally working.I used to have many issues with the Etisalat Aztech router so eventually switched to a Time Capsule which turned out to be good value investment considering it is a high performance router as well as a 2B hard drive used for back ups. Connecting other hardwares is also a piece of cake!

Many forced LL (those who ended up buying as they could not flip their purchase on time) and end-users who bought at the peak will likely ramp up the market to get higher rents or try selling. If the information is correct - 80% transactions are cash buyers, it shows a completely opposite picture to the one in 2008-09 where the great majority of transactions were highly leveraged. It could also mean the number of transactions is low as the scarcity of available mortgages means only a few people can afford to buy cash nowadays. That in itself is not a sign of a healthy property market.

The water is desalinated, has many chemicals (otherwise would not be safe for consumption) so it is best to use a shower filter (I use Blu). You will still experience hair loss but a lot less and your scalp may not be so itchy.

Finder>Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility>Macintosh HD and click verify disk. It will run some diagnostics. If everything is ok it will say something like "smart volume appears to be ok". If there are problems it will tell you what to do (for eg re-insert your set-up CD) and perform repairs. Like a PC when you open files and close them, delete files, not everything goes to plan and bugs do happen and files don't delete as they should, applications do not delete entirely when you think you delete them etc..... So the system needs re-setting so to speak. In 99% of the cases, the repairing of the hard drive is done via the set-up cd so do not panic. Good luck.

Although I only have Apple Express, not Extreme, I believe it works in the same fashion by using DHCP as they are wifi extenders. For each Airport Express I have I created a fixed ip address to avoid conflicts if for eg it stopped working temporarily just as you are also connecting your laptop. Both hardware while connecting could be trying for the same ip address.Obviously when you set up your Airport Extreme you should remove any password on your router so the Airport Extreme can connect more easily. Once all connected, re-enter the password to protect your network. HTH

I went to see Dr Msaadi at the Neuro Spinal Hospital on Jumeira Beach Road (next to Chilli's). He recommended I have an op after I tried absolutely everything else (meds and physio). The degenerative disc cannot be repaired but in my case I had been crippled with sciatica for over 6 months with many weeks where I simply could not walk anymore. Don't wait too long and have an MRI done.Good luck.

The garage does not care whether you claim on insurance or not. In order to do the repair they need to have the police report that's all.As you have the green slip, you can have your car repaired without worrying.I would still sort out the registration first (you were lucky the police did not fine you for this!) as you could easily be fined in the future. Sometimes police do random checks. It happened to me once.
