If there is someone here that would write a note from English to Pakistani, I would appreciate it. I am gifting our gardener and would like to include well wishes but he does not speak any english. Thanks :) I don't know Urdu but I have a few Pakistani friends that I could ask for help. So if you could post the message here or shoot me an email, perhaps I could ask them to translate.

you know, at 22 I would travel. I would get a work visa and do that for 2 years. Then you might know where you would like to live :0....travel...once you have kids it will be a different story :). anyway, I am Canadian, great country to live in, people are very nice and kind for the most part, open minded, we are just lovely lol.. especially the Maritimes lol Exactly! I have only been to Saudi Arabia as a kid and we visit our country every year or so. Thus, I feel like I am missing out on so much stuff since travelling enriches your knowledge. I am leaning more towards Canada due to the citizenship benefits (if I fall in love with the country and decide to settle there). However, the opportunities in the US seems far greater. Anyway, thank you so much for your reply :D

I am 22 years old and I have been living in UAE since I was 18 months old. Even though I truly love this country, I think it's time for me to move away and start fresh. I am kinda tired of living here and want to experience a new life. Thus I would like to know about your experience in living in these two countries. PS - I am single and have no kids.

Happened to me too so I called up Etisalat and they 'rebooted' Fibre something. It was fine for 2 days and now it's slow again. Just like you, I am unable to access some sites that I visit regularly. Gotta call them again

Just use your local card and use your shop&ship address as your billing address. Till that, all my orders on websites that 'accept only US and Canadian cards' went through without any problems. Ralph Lauren does ship to freight forwarders provided that the billing and shipping address is the same. I believe Bloomingdales also ship directly to UAE for AED 49 provided your total is over AED 400. They usually have sales on bedding and stuff so it's easy to reach that figure. oh, just FYI, I use Rakbank credit card and sometimes the bank calls me to confirm my transactions. Oh, don't forget to use cash back sites to get cash back on your purchases. I use Ebates (goo.gl/W63lY2) PS - I use MyBox not Shop&Ship so that might have an influence on it <em>edited by Flames92 on 08/12/2014</em>

Anyone else placed an order at Sephora during the black Friday sale? This was my first order at the US site and I got everything I wanted :D I got it shipped to my MyBox address so they charged me tax. Any idea whether I could it back? It's not much but if I can get back, I would definitely do since I am planning to place more orders Was the tax for Duba customs import duty? If the cost of the products were over a certain amount then Dubai customs will charge you which cannot be claimed back Tax was for the US shipping. Anyway, I didn't realize that I got cash back so that sorta cancels out the tax :D Oh, I don't think Sephora ships directly to UAE. If I had seen that option, I would have gone for that.

Hello, I am trying to get some shopping done but unfortunately, I get stuck in the checkout for having a non-US card and Paypal account even though the shipping address is in US. Does anyone here know a way to get a prepaid card without ridiculous fees like the one USunlocked charges?

Of course it was your Dad's fault. You check for other vehicles before you try and get out of your car. Surely common sense (or life preservation skills) dictate that. Thank you for your reply. I could have taken that point in the argument if the road was straight. The road was curved and when he checked, there was no one. The taxi dude sped into that side of the parking lot from the parallel side. I hope I am making sense. <em>edited by Flames92 on 12/11/2014</em>

I buy mine on eBay and it comes here in less than 2 weeks. So far, I have had zero issues and all my products are authentic. I pay a little bit more but get it from the popular sellers like bringbringshop, cosmetic love and beautynetkorea. Which brands do you buy? I would love to be able to buy Sulwhasou online and have it shipped at a reasonable price. I am new to the world of Asian products but so far I have tried the following products: 1) Cure Aqua Gel: I bought it for around $36 and it has become my holy grail product. My skin has gotten so much better since using it. It's brighter, smoother and my products seem to sink in a lot faster. 2) Benton: I tried their essence and steam cream. The essence didn't do much but the steam cream worked brilliantly on my skin initially but my skin got used to it so it's meh now. I don't need a moisturizer I guess. The Caudalie serum that I got in my Glam Box is enough for me and my skin seems to like it a lot. 3) Too Cool For School: I bought their Egg Mousse Pack just coz it was on sale. It effectively cleans my face without drying it (Never got a thing during the toner step till date). It's incredibly creamy and foamy. I use it only on days I use makeup but I guess this is gentle enough to be used everyday. 4) Annie's Way: The best face mask company ever! I am totally addicted to their Arbutin+Hyaluronic acid jelly mask. It leaves my face soft, moisturized and reduces my pore size. The seller that I bought it from was kind enough to add a sheet mask with it and I have had good results with that so I ordered 6 more of those. I also won their Snail repairing Jelly mask on eBay auction recently. I used it once and didn't like it at all. Will give it one more shot before tossing it. 5) Skin79 Oriental Plus Gold BB cream or something along that line: It made my skin look good and lasted for a long time but it totally broke me out....in fact I had my worst breakout till date after using it. Never ventured into the world of BB creams after that experience 6) Hada Labo UV Creamy Gel: Best sunscreen ever! No white cast, no grease, no breakouts, moisturizing! I have nothing bad to say about this product! My HG sunscreen! 7) Nexcare Acne Patches: Amazing product to ripen your pimples faster and making it easier to pop (Yes, I can't let a pimple sit in peace on my face). I use it like a spot treatment but sometimes I end up using 3-4 for the same spot as it doesn't work on some pimples as fast as I want it to. 8) Nature's Republic 92% Aloe Vera Gel: It helps with skin redness but not much. It reeks of alcohol so I couldn't stand using it on my face! So far my experience has been pretty good with asian products so I would definitely repurchase most of the above items. Anyway, here are some of the products that I want to try next: 1) SK-II masks 2) Hada labo Hyaluronic acid lotion 3) SU:M37 miracle rose cleasning stick What products do you buy? As mentioned earlier, I am new to the Asian beauty world so would love to hear about your favourite products.

My cousin brother had this issue around the same age and he just grew out of it. It's way more common than you think it is. It's no big deal. Oh, the only thing that we did was to put him in those big pampers and I guess that affected him psychologically so he stopped. <em>edited by Flames92 on 21/10/2014</em>

I am moving towards natural beauty products and the best place I found to get the supplies from is iHerb in terms of price and availability . However, the issue is that there are so many brands out there that has gotten me confused. I would really appreciate it if you could recommend me a reliable brand. Here are the list of products that I intend to buy: 1) Pure Argan Oil (Intend to use it in my hair) 2) Pure Shea Butter (Intend to use this on my skin) 3) Pure Jojoba Oil (Face) 4) Pure Maracuja Oil (Mum's Face) 5) Pure Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Mom's Face) 6) Pure Rose hip seed oil (Mum's Face) 7) Pure Marula Oil (Face) 8) Evening Primrose Oil (For Eyes) 9) Honey ( For consumption) Of course I won't use them all right away, I will experiment with a few and see which ones I like the best. Thus I would order a small quantity for each one and take it from there. In addition, please let me know if there is anything amazing out there to try. Thanks in advance PS - Skin Type: My skin has been getting dry lately especially around the forehead & cheeks and rosewater isn't cutting it anymore. Oh, I also tend to get hormonal acne.

I've worked with them for several visits recently, never received such a message for a missed call. Plus, S&K looked one of the most professional real estate agency among dozens that I've met. Thought an e-mail to S&K general mailbox like an info@.... would work? May be they have a good opportunity to share with you;) Sorry, Xn///they are extremely bad and I know people who have worked there too and bad mouth them all over Dubai.... Now I understand all those thumb downs to my reply. I was about to take it personal, then seen all those negative feedbacks about S&K added your comment above on top, now it makes sense.. If the majority says so, I'm just an exception then;) No, it just means that they don't agree with your opinion. Oh just a piece of advice, don't bother to take things personally here. There are some people on the forum who love to tear down others.

When we were house hunting, they never bothered to return our calls. After that, they have been constantly calling and sending me emails. Even after repeating multiple times, they didn't stop. Thus, I have their number on my blocked list. Seriously, the property market in this country in general is a joke.

I use Paypal...not really comfortable sharing my credit card information directly with any company plus the currency conversion rates are better with Paypal. Oh, NEVER use Western Union to deal with online suppliers. It's not reliable. I never heard about JD China but some popular chinese stores have a shop on eBay. For instance, buyincoins, I shopped at their actual website and at their ebay store. The quality of the items were surprisingly pretty good and CS team were helpful as well.

I regularly order stuff from China via eBay. Just look at the seller's ratings and try to read feedback for your items carefully. If it's the same buyer or buyer with 1 or feedback, there is a pretty good chance that those ratings are fake. Another good idea is to make sure that you buy things from sellers that have been on eBay for more than a year. Items do take a long time to come (like around 3 weeks) but I have never lost a package. All packages are sent to your P.O Box. You can pay about $2.5 extra if you want tracking. I never usually bother because the items I buy are already such low priced that it's not worth it. I did have an issue once with a quality of one item that I received. Thus, I opened a dispute on eBay and got the full amount (i.e including shipping) refunded. Till date, I have ordered only one hoodie from China. Size was perfect (I made sure to look at the measurements given for each size) and quality was similar to that of Forever-21's if not better. I do know that the prices are usually cheaper on Ali Express but I never used it since they don't accept PayPal (and I usually get cashback on eBay which makes the price similar to that of Ali Express's if not cheaper). My friend, however, uses it quite often and rates it highly. He did once mention that his package went missing once but the seller was quick with the refund. PS - Use this link to get cashback on your eBay purchases: http://goo.gl/IY64IH

This might sound a bit strange but two products that helped me with my hormonal acne were oatmeal cleanser and rosewater. I grind the oatmeal into this fine powder and use it every morning and night as a cleanser. I transferred pure rosewater into a little spray bottle and spray my face every 30 mins or whenever my face feel dry. I have been doing this for almost a month and even though I am not 100% free of acne, this has helped tremendously...I would say 70% of my acne is gone :D The oatmeal cleanser sounds good. I have been suffering from hormonal acne for close to six months now. I tried everything from changing my diet, exercising, keeping my stress levels under control. Then i read &lt;a href="http://www.xojane.com/beauty/i-gave-up-dairy-and-all-i-got-was-the-best-skin-of-my-life"&gt;this&lt;/a&gt; and I tried it. It worked like a miracle. I am also taking zinc for acne and milk thistle tabs. I apply turmeric and yoghurt everyday as a topical treatment. I don't have a clear skin yet but cutting out dairy has made a whole lot of difference. I also had issues with dairy when my acne started. I stopped it and yes, my skin is a lot more calm. However, when I had dairy months later, my skin didn't react that badly. I do the turmeric+yogurt+olive oil/rosewater/honey+sandalwood mask once a month and it's awesome!

I used Empost (http://www.empostuae.com/internationalCourier.html) a couple of years ago to ship a package to Europe and had no problem. They are cheaper than fedex/dhl, they collect the package from your place and deliver really fast. I would highly recommend them. PS - Note that I am talking about my experience in 2011/2012. Their service and rate might have changed by now.

No extra charges for cosmetics! :D hey flames i got my dermalogica order as well.. no extra charges.. am trying to order some nail colors using look fantastic direct shipping to dubai but they won't ship nail colors `to dubai :/ I got my lookfantastic order! Delivery was fast....they dispatched it on the 16th of the July and it got here on the 22nd of July. However, it got delivered to my P.O Box instead of home. That was the only bummer and they filled the package with loads of codes and stuff that can only be used in the UK so I am planning to pass them off to my friends in the UK.

Some of them provide you with burqas/abayas to wear. Either way, just make sure not to wear tight-fitting clothes. Wear a head scarf and cover yourself....no part of your body should be exposed other than face, hands and feet. Most people are more than willing to help you learn about the religion. I don't think there would be any problem. There will be a language barrier but they will try their best to explain it in "broken English". Hope this helps :)

Last time when I used MyBox was in November and I remember them updating their system immediately. I ordered a hairspray, not perfume and it was free shipping to Dubai. I didn't have any issues other than the fact that my contact number was missing in the "delivery details" even though I clearly remember entering it during the checkout process. I contacted them and they told me that it will be "fine". Order perfumes from Strawberrynet.com. They do charge 10% shipping fee if you ship perfume only so better to add makeup/skincare to your order to waive that charge. Here is the link to that page: http://arabicen.strawberrynet.com/customer-service/faq/#22. EDIT - I was looking for Versace Vanitas and compared to strawberrynet, it is actually cheaper in UAE (http://www.alshop.com/vanitas-versace-perfume-100ml-for-her.html). Guess it's not as cheap as people make it out to be. Oh btw, did you receive your dermalogica order yet?

I've ordered from ASOS a few times and always choose the standard free delivery and got it delivered to my work. The shipment landed in Dubai after a few days BUT it wasnt until i tracked the shipment on ASOS website that i saw it had been sitting at the Dubai hub for a week pending customs clearence, i needed to send my ID and pay 200 dhs. This has happened every time. I suggest to avoid ordering over the value of 1000dhs that way you wont have to pay anything. Get it marked as gift to avoid customs :P

My skin has gotten dry lately and I started getting a lot of whiteheads as well. Only thing that helped my skin was this Korean brand cream, it's called Benton Snail Bee High Content steam cream + essence. Though it is targeted towards people with sensitive and acne prone skin, it worked so brilliantly for me that I ordered full size after trying out their samples. Anyway, if your skin is dry and you want to moisturise it without the grease, then you should look for steam creams in general. There are many brands out there and some might have SPF. Sorry, I can't give you additional names as the one stated above is the only one that I have tried so far. <em>edited by Flames92 on 15/07/2014</em>

Strawberrynet.com have some good discounted perfumes and they do free worldwide delivery. I have never used it but most people here seem to rave about that site. I did place my first order with lookfantastic.com yesterday (and I just received an email informing me that they dispatched my order). They are not that cheap but they frequently have sales and give you extra codes to use on top of that. Combine that with cash back and you can save ever more :P For instance, the TIGI heat defender was on 20% sale yesterday and I had a 20% coupon to use in addition to that. Through the cash back site (http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/Flames92), I got an additional 10% back so that's a saving of over 40%. Best thing is that they do free worldwide shipping :D (They did charge me an extra 1% for paying using PayPal but the 10% cash-back made up for it) They do have Dermalogica products and some people on the forum have ordered Dermalogica products from them without any problems. However, since the site is new to me, I decided to buy one item to try it out. Oh btw, have you tried Prada's perfume called Candy? It smells like heaven! :') <em>edited by Flames92 on 14/07/2014</em>

Have any of you ladies tried Ship Ace? They seem quite popular on FB and I’ve already had a few bad experiences with Shop and Ship, thinking of giving these guys a try now. If anyone’s had any experiences with them I’d love to know I just googled it and shipping seems more expensive than MyBox but they clearly state that they ship perfumes and makeup whereas MyBox does not. I did email MyBox about it and they said we can ship those items so I placed a small order to try it out. Will confirm if it works :)

Any experience with kitchen 6 or beachcombers ,market place grandhyatt, with kids for dinner?Im not sure which to select Market place is pretty good. However, as amelia pointed out, most places have pretty much the same sort of menu for children Sorry I think i made a mistake..market cafe is in grand hyatt ... do u mean market place in JW Marriot -- is this good too?(I have not been there too) Yes, I was talking about Market Cafe at Grand Hyatt. The one at JW Marriot is also pretty good from what I heard. It goes for AED 199 but I guess you have a buy 1, get 1 voucher in the entertainer. However, make sure to ask them whether you can use the vouchers during Ramadan. I had the Gulf News discount booklet and wasn't able to use the vouchers on some days.

That means it's time to dig a bigger hole in the wallet :P hahhaa... am abt to order some moisturizers n cleansers.. waited on it last night after i saw ur post.. however my clothes order is 220 USD .. now I only wanna order a cleanser n a moisturizer but they are worth bat 80 USD .. so if i combine the 2 shipments into 1 shipment i would be charged customs right? the limit with customs is 250 or 275 USD? and I just don't wanna have a separate shipment fr the liquids .. do u think my box ppl wud lwt it stay there till i order some more stuff with which i combine this 80 USD Shipment? how long would they hold it.. P.S thanks fr referring the ebates site.. i joined it using ur link, however we had already placed RL order directly.. :( so won't be getting the 2.5% cash back this time.. :/ I haven't used the consolidated service yet but here is an excerpt from their Terms and Conditions: " Consolidated shipments less charges will only be on customer clearance charges as first shipment will have custom clearance charges and rest will be free of it, first half KG will be 2.5 KD for each consolidated shipment." They also informed me that they don't repackage the items, however, you will receive all your items (in their original packaging) at the same time if you consolidate shipments. When I asked them about how the shipping charges are calculated, this is what they said: "2.5 kd for the first half kilo for every shipment and 2kd fro any additional half kilo, so it will be calculated in the same regular way" I guess HorizonMum2 will be able tell you about it in detail <em>edited by Flames92 on 29/06/2014</em>

Ramadan is coming up so I don't think they will sing Happy Birthday for you. On the other note, I was just wondering whether Entertainer book is worth it. I always find great deals on Groupon/Cobone and my experience so far has been pretty good with them. I usually buy food related deals....sometimes I go for mani-pedi deals. So considering those two categories, do you think it's worth buying? Anyway, if you are interested, here is one Lebanese iftar buffet starting at AED 114 for two people (i.e AED 57/person) at Dubai Mall: goo.gl/nrDkJf I have seen an offer for dinner buffet at Lotus Marina Hotel for AED 49 somewhere....would post it once I find it. However sns has a 10$ fee now I knew about the fees associated with sns but had no idea about the My Box one. The thing is that my box's website still states that liquids, cosmetics and perfumes are prohibited in the shipping list. https://mybox.postaplus.com/ProhibitedItems.aspx

thanks flames and horizon mum you have been both great help to convince me to rather go fr my box. i just spoke to Rosemary and she confirmed that here in UAE the allow makeup, perfumes, and liquids to be delivered with no issue. for you blog the customs limit is 275 USD which she told me. 2 more questions I have if you guys can help answer.. 1. I can ship to this my box address both from online and physical stores right? 2. do you guys have experience of ordering from Ralph lauren online US store, if yes did you use UAE credit card coz about year or so ago i tried to order to a US address with UAE cc with UAE billing address but US shipping address but they won't accept the cc saying the billing address has to be a US address as well :( now the reason am going from my box is to order RL clothes for my husband and daughter from their online store. But if they don't accept the CC then there is no point fr me to create an account :( which is a shame .. plz respond if you have expreniced ordering with RL 1- Yes! Think of it as a physical address you have in the US. You can get anything shipped there as long as it's legally allowed here and in US. However, they don't accept anything on COD so you have to make sure your goods are paid for. 2- Use your US address as your billing address. I did that and had absolutely no problem. I did inform the customer service just in case they thought I was a fraud :P They said it doesn't matter if I ship it to a freight forwarder. Here is some extra advice assuming that you are new to online shopping: Get a Paypal account! I try to use PayPal for international purchases everywhere and I can see that Ralph Lauren accepts it. They convert everything to AED and add a 1% service charge on it so it turns out to be better than the bank's currency conversion charges. Oh, if you are new to PayPal, you can get $10 off your first purchase I guess. I saw the code on retailmenot.com.....not sure whether it works though. Every time you shop online, try using cash back sites such as Ebates (ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=oqQysQAFjB9djqmxi02w0A%3D%3D%26eeid=26471). You get back a percentage of your purchase. For Ralph Lauren, it is currently 2.5%. It's not much but if you shop a lot, it adds up. Best thing is that they accept international customers unlike some others and you have the option to get the money transferred to your PayPal account. There are many sites like this but I personally prefer this one because they automatically transfer money into my account so I don't have to go through the trouble of requesting and waiting for it. PS - The Ebates link I posted is a referral link. If you sign up using my link, it will not affect you or your purchases anyway but I will just get some bonus money. However, this is not an advertisement.... the actual intention of this post is to help you to get the max out of your buck because I think everyone loves to save! I just wish someone had told me about it before...could have saved so much! PSS - Thank you for letting me know that they started shipping liquids and makeup! Do you know whether there are any extra charges for it? I wanna buy some Memebox :P

Oh I forgot to add that during my first experience with my box, they didn't charge me any shipping fees. I also forgot to mention that they only ship packages from US on Tuesdays only. So if your package gets delivered in Their US office on Wednesday, you have to wait until next Tuesday for it to get shipped. It then takes 3-4 additional days in transit, one day in customs and another 1-2 days to deliver it to your address. They also let you consolidate your packages which makes it cheaper if you order multiple items at the same time. I never utilized that service so I can't tell you much about that. Personally, I use my box more as it's cheaper because I usually get multiple small packages from USA. However, if I know the item is light but the packaging is huge, I will use Shop&Ship. I am a new blogger and you just gave me an idea for a new post! Guess I will detail my experience with freight forwarders in UAE on the blog. Not sure whether I am allowed to leave a link here :/

woud you recommend my box or shopnship? what is the cut off value/weight at which u r charged customs? I have both so I think I am in a good position to talk about this. My box experience: My first experience was horrible! I ordered a mini bakery set for a cousin off Amazon and got it shipped to the US address. The online system notified me when they received the package. After 3 days of seeing no progress with it, I called them to inquire about it. They told me that they ship itemitem on Tuesday and I will receive it two days later. A few days later they called me to inform me that they lost my package and so will compensate me for it. A few days later that then they told me that they found my package and ship it via prioty shipping. Then they asked me for the item details so I sent them the link. They told me that they ordered the item for me and once they receive it, they will ship it via priority shipping. They used regular shipping and when I received my item I was shocked to see that it was used. When I informed that it was used, they took no responsibility of it. The item I ordered was sold my Amazon whereas the one they got me was from cooking.com's Amazon store. I was put off by this experience. Second experience: got my item within two weeks so happy. Third time: New website was working perfectly, they called me to set a delivery time and got my item within a week! Pros: They are cheaper and sometimes faster than shop&ship, service is better now. Cons: In addition to the actual weight, they also take your volumetric weight into consideration, limited countries, does not ship liquid/makeup stuff. Shop&ship: There are a lot of threads here detailing the experience. Their service is good, website is fine, however, drivers are extremely lazy. Pros: only considers actual weight to calculate rate, multiple countries, ships makeup and liquids for an extra $10 Cons: Expensive rate, lazy drivers, extra charge as insurance for items worth over $100 Finally customs: I guess you get charged when you order something over $250 or something like that. Anyway, I won'y recommend you to ship anything expensive using these services as in case of damage or theft, they will only reimburse you up to $100. Better to pay a bit more and get it directly shipped to be on the safer side and get it marked as 'gift' to avoid customs. Anyway, I hope this is helpful...I typed using my phone so I might miss out a few things here and there.
