I got mine from Carrefour! The brand is called Organic Care. Fantastic conditioner! I haven't tried out their shampoo yet but they are silicone and sulphate free as well.

Try checking gradberry and bayt.com? I have found an amazing internship for summer through bayt.com. In fact, the company has offered me a permanent job as soon as I graduate :D Will definitely recommend bayt and gradberry. I have also heard that internsme is excellent as they are quite involved in helping you to find an internship.

I'm really concern about my hair :( I have a thick hair and always have been the one that everyone always envy me because of my hair. I know there have been many discussion about the hair fall and I have read them all. Two months ago I purchased water filter and was hoping for my problem to go away! But no change :/ So what is happening with my hair is that I still have thick and healthy hair BUT, the middle of my frontline right where the widows pick would be in an area of 2x2 cm in thinning out so fast I'm afraid that soon everybody is gonna notice that. :( This started since I got to Dubai or it MIT be because I'm getting older!!!!???? Has anyone experienced the same problem? What should I do? And whom should I see??? I was crying about hair fall until a month ago. I have finally found the solution to it and would like to share it with everyone here! :D First of all, STOP WORRYING! The more you worry, the more the hairfall. Secondly, stop applying everything to your hair. Something that works for everyone might not work for you. For instance, Head and Shoulders has helped me with my hair fall problem but makes it worse for my mum. Another thing that has made a huge difference to mine and most people's hair is the egg treatment. I tried it after someone mentioned it on EW and it has worked wonders for me. Its just a mixture a mixture of one egg and juice of one lemon. Next, try to eat loads of fruits and reduce sugar intake. My mum gives me this glass full of milkshake with all the fruits she can find at home. Doesn't always taste the best but I somehow gulp it down :P Lastly, make sure your scalp is clean and dandruff-free. Dandruff can make hair fall worse. To get rid of it, once a month I do this olive oil+ lemon juice treatment. You have to massage olive oil into your hair and after an hour, massage in the lemon juice. Keep it for an hour and shampoo your hair regularly. I find that Head & Shoulders works best to completely get oil out of your hair. Oh one more thing, limit using blow-dryers and straighteners. I got myself one of those standing fan and I sit infront of it for like 10 mins and my hair gets dry without using any heat products. Just try that once in a while. I had almost chopped off my entire hair due to hair fall+thinning problem and I can totally relate to what you are going through. I do think that the water plays a huge role in hair fall but so does the air-conditioned environment and your diet. Finally, after 4 years, my hair has become thicker (at least compared to what it was before). edited by Flames92 on 27/09/2013

have you tried brushing your teeth with bicarb of soda - it really is amazing. Just dab your toothbrush in the powder and use as toothpaste - you will be surprised at the results. Haha! Thank you so much for your advise. My sis tried that bicarb method and it didn't exactly work for her.

Hi Flames I did try and reply again last night, but every time I tried to post, the EW site kept kicking me out - the iPad only narrowly missed taking a long fall from the balcony. Anyhoo, as Blondie says, it's a lovely place; as for the shades lighter, the dentist does show you examples of teeth colours, what you are and what you will be, which is only max 2 shades I think. For me, I was more interested in the scale and polish, I have pretty white teeth anyway, so difficult to tell, but OH and his daughter both did it too and they did look whiter, albeit not bling white. As Blondie pointed out, the Zoom is more noticeable, but that's because it uses peroxide and you cannot do it again for at least 12 months, whereas, with this one, whilst you may not go "white white" per se, it is kinder to your teeth, hence you are able to do it every few months. The price is cheap because they are building a client base I guess, in fact it was my birthday last week and they sent me an e-mail with birthday wishes and as a birthday treat 80% off some treatements, which can be used for up to 6 months, so I'm booking in again for 6 months time. Oh and no, there were no extra charges. HTH. I do want to get at least 3 shades whiter. My teeth are slightly yellow and I am debating between this and Zoom Whitening. How many shades whiter did it get for you using Zoom?

Just wondering whether its worth going there. Everyone seems to be raving about them and I doubt whether they are real people. Hi Flames, I'm real :-) I took the offer a few weeks ago and was very pleased with them. The dentist was very thorough on the scale and polish, she spent a long time doing that (she had her work cut out, it's a few years since I've been to the dentist) and she did an excellent job. The teeth whitening was also fine, they don't use peroxide, it's a much less potent product, so don't go expecting Hollywood bling, which was fine for me as I didn't want to end up looking like Ross from friends..... The environment is lovely and relaxing as well, I whole-heartedly recommend them. Hey Kez, Thank you so much for your reply! How many shades whiter can I expect? And were there any extra charges other than the advertised AED 500/400?

Thank you so much for your replies ladies! @Meegle, I am quite desperate for help here. Do you know of any 3 bedroom apartment near the metro for under 100k? Ideally, we will not like to pay above 85K unless the apartment is close enough to walk to Knowledge Village.

In all the times we were apartment hunting we never came across a LL direct. Always through and agent. Just make sure that you get to see LL's passport and title deeds copy before handing and cash over. There are some dodgy people out there, ready to fleece you..... Point noted! Thanks for the tip! Will definitely ask them for a copy of the title deed and LL's passport.

They are independent villas that lack the community aspect of the typical expat areas. They are affordable due to lack of communal facilities, sidewalks, etc. Having said they are accessible to a lot of areas and are quite new. If you have kids, you might miss the community feel. We took the plunge for a more economical reason and I kind of regret it - we were in the ranches, and green community previously and the kids had tons of friends in nearby houses, the pool, playgrounds etc. We're saving a bundle though so in that sense its great! I think once my kids are a bit older and doing more ECA's it'll be fine. Thanks for the reply! We are a family of 5 and since we are asians, I am still living with my family even at the age of 21! :P How much are you paying for your villas? So there is absolutely no access to the pool? How far is the bus/metro station from there?

It is not a good idea to write your email address in an open forum because you will get tons of spam mail everyday. You can change it to read gani59 (at) yahoo.com instead! oh ye of little faith. Yes this place exists. It's central and I only moved in a few months ago. The compound is owned by one person who obviously feels no need to fleece his tenants. Did I mention 4 cheques? No matter how eager you non-believers are to know where this "fairy-tale land" is, I'm keeping this location to myself. lol But as I managed to find it, so presumably can you. Dear Faded Blue Jeans, I know you mentioned that you are not going to reveal the location but I am quite desperate here. We are a family of 5 and are currently settled in Ajman. Hello I'm new on this site and was hoping someone could help. I'm 25 year old single mother I am in the middle of having interviews for kindergarten teacher position. I come across the by accident actually been looking a relocating to Hong Kong but this position looks perfect but problem is I haven't got chance to do much research. I have been to Kuwait and feel really enjoyed it there but never been to Dubai basically I would like to know.. What is the average salary for kindergarten teacher? Would I have any cultural problems being single mum? Would I be able to sponsor my child? If not the kindergarten have said they would be willing to do this on my behalf would this be possible? Would me and my daughter be able to afford an okey standard of living? Accommodation is not included in package as far as I am aware, but school fees health insurance etc are. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help As far as I am aware, Dubai is a horrible place for teachers. According to a friend of mine, they are extremely underpaid here. Since you mentioned that accomadation is not included, I would warn you before hand that the rents are touching the sky right now. In addition, you have to consider the electricity and water bills. Sorry, I am not of much help and probably others can provide better information. Good luck though!

yes we get one spot each apartment (all apartments are 3 bedroom)... this is because we dont have a multi-storey car park like a lot of other buildings on that stretch... i actually prefer not having the multistorey car park as it means that for a person like me (on a low floor but facing the back) i have unobstructed circulation (air flow) and also an unobstructed view with lots of sunlight! alternatively, since we have two cars, we have a street parking card for the second car and there is plenty of street parking available at the front and back of the building We have three cars so we were hoping to get at least two spots. Anyway, how much does the street card cost? Where can I get that from?

Anyway, do you get reserved parking spots with your apartment?

the villas in sufouh (such as the Nakheel villas and the Rock Compound) aren't listed on any website... and i've been hounding the nakheel villa real estate (KAWAKEB) for ages now but no availability... do you know if there is one that is currently available??? The one that I mentioned is available. Its between HSBC and AUD. My brother usually parks his car there and he noticed it there. There was a "To Let" sign so he went and asked the landlord. He seemed like a great guy but unfortunately its out of our budget so have to let it go. Its better if you go and look at all the villas yourself. Oh btw, do you know where can I found the floor plans for Al Sondos Tower?

yikes... i unfortunately dont know the exact size of the apartment... never thought to get it measured... but ur welcome to come see it whenever you're in the area... we usually always have someone at home... we will be away from 10th till 28th of this month though... our apartment is on the first floor... it's four apartments per floor and the tower is around 21floors... our floor is the only one that doesn't have balconies... well we have a small one but the floors above us all have lovely spacious balconies in the kitchen, living room and also one for the rooms... we will only be able to move when we find a villa to move to... our budget for the villa is 150K and we're looking for an old compound type one somewhere in jumeirah/umm suqeium... i have my name on waiting list at a couple of places and now just waiting for something to materialise... our rental cheque expires in october which is why i suggested that we are looking to move by then but perhaps it's worth calling our building real estate and asking them for any upcoming apartments... coz we have a lot of expats in the building there is constant movement of people! We have seen some lovely villas in that area that is going for 150K. There is a 4 bedroom one near Nakheel Metro station that is about 4000 square feet big. Its a huge place but unfortunately, we cannot afford it so looking for something slightly further away. I think its called Rock Villa Compound. If you want, you can go and have a look. oh I have sent Jumeirah Real Estate an email and will call them by tomorrow. Hopefully, we find one soon! :D

hi there... we live in an apartment on shk zayed road... next to Towers Rotana and very close to the DIFC metro station... the apartment is very spacious... 3 bedrooms plus maids room, has its own pool, children's playroom (more used as a party room), gym and squash courts. we live on a lower floor and hence only pay 95K but the higher floors go at a max of 135K... so probably worth looking into not sure when you want to move... we're looking to move in october so if you can wait you could have our apt... otherwise you could just check directly with the landlord... it's called Jumeirah Real Estate... and our building name is Skyline Residence (formerly Al Sondos tower) that has an Emirates NBD below edited by abby_n_christina on 05/08/2013 Thank you so much for your reply! Exactly on which floor is your apartment?

For that price and working in Media City, I'd be looking at JLT. I would think you might be able to get a 3 bed in Icon I or II, Armada or Lake Terrace for around that price. (Some of those buildings get better reviews than others.) Hey Meagle, We couldn't find anything that was at least 2400 square feet and in our budget at JLT thus looking at other areas.

So after reading a few threads on the forum, I think its best to ask here rather than wait for lazy agents who never bother to call back. So here are our requirements: a) Budget is about AED 130000 so something under that. b) Minimum 3 bedrooms c) Needs to be at least 2500 sq. feet d) Access to the metro station. (FYI, we will be travelling to Media City every day but couldn't find an affordable apartment/villa nearby) e) Access to a pool is preferable Anyone knows a suitable property that fits our requirement? We would prefer to deal with the landlord directly instead of going through an agent. Please let us know as soon as possible.

Most people use cars to go to work. Public transport has improved in the past few years but its not at the stage where people use it to go to work. Unless you work inside a mall or something as they stop at two big malls. Our offices and universities are based in Media City but we cannot afford anything around it yet :(

It will be in the lenders name if the 'loan' is through an Islamic lender/plan, I think! Normally those loans are done as 'rent to buy' to avoid the whole interest thing. So they own for the duration of loan, you rent from them (rent is your monthly payment), once 'rent' period ends and you pay it off, you have bought it from them! Could you please suggest some banks that do that? We found a beautiful townhouse at JVC and we would love to use the "rent to buy" option as it would make it so much easier for us.

I should not reply as I do not own either. I can say that my dishwasher is 13 yrs old, a Whirlpool, and successfully cleans our greasy pots very well, and washes on very high temperature. The only feature that I would like of new dishwashers is the drying function. Mine steams, but we still have to leave the door ajar for a while for everything to dry off. Thanks for replying! 13 years is a long time for a dishwasher. My mum's Whirlpool refrigerator is about 15 years old and still going strong. The only problem is that the water leaks sometimes. Sad, the new whirlpool products aren't that great anymore.

You can search for your manual here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OperMan/ I would think the detergent is added at the start -no matter which programme you select Tried looking for it on that site as well as laundry.manualsonline.com....can't find it. I have posted it on the Panasonic Middle East's Facebook page twice but they keep deleting it or something. Anyway, the model number is NA-F70GS. I have a Panasonic Triple PowerWave washing machine and it has the following programs: 1 - Normal 2 - Mini 3 - Speedy 4 - Blanket 5 - Home Dry Care 6 - Tub Dry Normally, I put it on the Normal mode and select the water level, wash minutes, the number of times to rinse and spin time and start it. I do not know what the other ones mean or the way to use. For instance, if I put it on the "Blanket" mode, when am I supposed to add the detergent? Can I use the "Home Dry Care" program to wash clothes labeled "Dry clean only"? If yes, how? I apologize for all the silly questions but I will really appreciate it if you could explain it to me as I am new to washing clothes. PS - More info about the machine : It has a "fuzzy-logic" label at the corner.

Hi all, Can anyone tell me where can I get Visa prepaid card here? Go to NBAD and ask them for the Blue al-haslah card. I have that card and I would definitely recommend it. It works everywhere ( coz of visa) and there are no charges to reload or withdraw money through ATM and no other charges for inactivity. The only charges that I pay/paid was 7 dhs for getting the card and the currency conversion charge for shopping at amazon. Currency conversion charge was about 4 or 5% so I pay through Paypal now.

Hi, I just need a trim and don't want to spend a fortune for it... any suggestions on where to go? Prefer Marina area if possible :-) Thanks!!! You can go to this hair academy called Formula French Hairdressing Academy at Knowledge Village and get it done for free. I went there twice to get a trim and during both the time, they washed, cut and blow-dried my hair for free. They are basically students who are completing their course. However, before proceeding, they are instructed by their trainers in detail. Thus so far, I have been extremely satisfied with both my visits.

I went there today. Very disappointing! Limited collection, things are disorganized and bargains aren't that great. SAVEX was 99% better! And this Concept one had a lot of stuff from China....the ones you get at Carrefour. Only difference was that this was slightly under-priced. So overall, I would say, skip it if you want to find good stuff at a great price.
