I am having a similar situation right now. For the past 6 months or so, our 3 years old would wake up between 3-5.30am and walk, in the darkness, into our room and sleep between DH and I. Before you put a gate infront of his room and we would find him on the mat by the gate - fast asleep. Then we removed the gate, and that's when it all started. In the beginning we would walk him back and tuck him back to sleep but he would be back in our bed within 30 minutes. DH and I work full time, it's tiring to have a 'break' in our sleep ... so of late, we just let LO sleep between us. I want this to stop though .... but how??

Thank you for this feedback Australiajudy. Perhaps we can use (or borrow for 10 days) for the minimal travel between house and airport and airport and our parents home. During the actual holiday in Europe, we will have a full backed carseat (I hope) from my sister. Thanks again and will weigh things up! Cheers

We are due to travel with out 3 years old. I looked on the http://www.bubblebum-me.com and it is recommended from the age of 4 years old. Has anyone used booster seat or this inflatable carseat for a 3 years old of approximately 14kg in weight?

Has anyone used Howdra Maids and happy with their performance and attitude? We have been very unlucky with maids from Howdra - Having our 3rd one now since since September last year - 1st one liked to 'party' and entertain opposite gender too often, 2nd one hid her (dangerous) illness from both the Agency and us which could have jeopardise our family, and the current one is on a temporary basis whilst I wait for new batch of new maids coming from Phillipines. We would not want to hire this one on permanent basis..... As a company, Howdra has been great in finding a replacement, quickly, but somehow their quality is not what I expect. Perhaps we have just been very unlucky with this 'lottery".... So, in case your contract is running up with Howdra and have been happy with your maid - I'd like to see if I can take over your maid - either still thru Howdra or directly. I am hopeful we can 'win the loterry in maids' (too) one day SOON :)

As far as I know there are only TWO agencies who provides long term live in maid sponsored by the agency. Howdra - they currently do not have available maids due to holidays - but do check Explorer Maids - same owning company as Howdra.

supposedly it's sms for ringtones and wallpapers - but I have only seen one type 7990 number even that, no link to download the info from ... and there some other numbers ... 3/ sms is a lot - especially useless ones :(

just received my bill and there are about 15 sms charges of Dhs 3/each to a 4 digit number as such 7990. anyone know how to deactivate this 3rd party delivering sms which I do not know about and Du has been useless in guiding me how to unsubscribe.

I am not 100% sure of the current situation, but check with American Hospital as in the past I attended 2 day weekend workshop for the antenatal class. price is similar and also received a home visit.

You are welcome Tru Blu - i was told that the new maids are coming in mid October - so if you contact them now, you'll have a higher chance for having 'options' and able to interview a number of the maids according to your criteria. Good luck!

DS used to struggle with brushing his teeth too.... now he wants to brush his teeth before and after shower .... we have this song playing either in the car or in his room: http://www.nancycassidymusic.com/ks1Lyrics.html#teeth (brush teeth) and i 'believe' this is how we got him to start brushing his teeth ... just a thought ....

tipping is the way to go .... the money for the agency is by cheque and any tip we give to the maid is by cash. can be cash or can be phone cards I think....

Hi Nath, if she has already been to Dubai and is familiar with airplanes and airport, I would suggest that she goes directly to Dubai without an agency. Just make sure she has done her medicals to ensure she does not have any illness. I am looking for an Indonesian maid, from Indonesia without an agency assistance. can you get it here? 3 years back I remember holding this microscopic 'thing' when we were TTC, didn't end up buying though as DS was conceived that soon after. This was available at the pharmacy next to Dubai London Clinic Festival City. Sorry dont remember the name of that pharmacy but it's right next door to DLC.

Flower girl where do you live? There is a bus from MOE upto the Ranches and studio city which is quite good runs every 20 minutes or so. Is that anywher near you? Sorry for the late reply Jshepherd. I live in Falcon City. Found a PDF map on the RTA website but there is no bus route between Arabian Ranches and Silicon Oasis. RTA should look into this as there are more and more residence living in The Villa and Falcon City - meaning there will be more requirements on weekends for maids to travel....

thank you ladies for your feedback. My new employer wants me to buy my own blackberry but they will pay for the contract - too many blackberries have gone missing/broken by previosu staff ... So it is more for work purposes and from what I hear Blackberry Bold 9780 is supposed to be 'better' than Torch ...... i have no clue - will have to purchase one soon.

I second ERGO carrier for back carrier. I would search on youtube to give you the easiest instruction for carrying LO on your back ... caa must item for me when travelling with DS alone.

I had the most horrible experience when purchasing a M bath (45 mins) and Massage (45mins) at one the 'known' hotels on Sheikh Zayed Road. OMG - I never thought I would walk into such a place. Seedy to the max! Lights were of red shades, no steam room so the lady had to turn on the hot shower, to create steam, laid down on a bed covered with plastic ... ugr! and part of the deal was a massage ...They have most likely used oil from Day-to-Day shop or Daiso YUCK! ...oh and what was supposed to be 90 minutes treatment, all was done within 50 mins HORRIBLE experience. And I was told thru someone else that the lady who did all the treatment was a previous "lady of the night" ..... I should let Cobone know about this! If you have not redeeemed your voucher to this M bath at this hotel - i would just toss it in the bin!!! If this is for where I think it is, I wouldn't even use the toilets there! Too many ladies of the night...worried I might come out with something I didn't go in with! LOL i should have known better - the 'spa' was in the residence building - so never thought it would be 'connected' ... i made sure I showered again - oh really was disgusting. And to think full price is AED 400??????????????????????? YUCK! Poor girl was the only to do it and on a daily basis she has at least 8 clients and it's pretty much fully booked all July and August with Cobone shoppers like me :(

Thanks Fairycakeyumm! I wish more FC residents reads and recommends ... can always rely on the TV residents for feedback! :) I've tried two maids from Sky Maids. One talked too much and didn't clean as thorough ... and the other understand very little English ... besides I prefer the house to be cleaned 3 x per week on 3 hourly base rather than 2 x 4 hourly .... joy of living in the desert - sand everywhere! If I change my mind about Sky Mids - who is your maid? She is leaving?? Looking for a job elsewhere? Maid.ae - will call them ... also min 4 hours?? Yes read more info on Jessica Maids - will call them. It's a legal company right? I used one mentioned on The Villa Forum, and seems to dodgy to me and didn't want to risk it though.

Reviving this thread ... am looking for a maid agency willing to come to Falcon City Looking for minimum 3 hours ONLY Sky Maids - tried, not impressed with them AND only does 4 hours minimum. Have not tried Howdra and Focus Clenaing, but they too are asking minimum 4 hours Affordable Quality, who comes to AR, won't come to FC. Cleanco, can only do Monday & Thursday .... DS is 2 and he doens't seem to 'get it' it yet about the sun and moon and staying in bed. How early does your daughter wake up?
