I've bought the oat bran at spinneys Umm Seqeim, Waitrose Dubai Mall and Lulu's. Wheat bran for the muffin recipe I bought at Umm Seqeim Spinneys (although have not tried to make it yet). No Fat strawberry and vanilla yoghurt is available at Spinneys and Carrefour. Low fat from from age frays is available at Carrefour. Skimmed natural yogurt is at Spinneys and Carrefour. I prefer the Butterball lean turkey slices. Have never been able to find quark. Have never found low fat cottage cheese. I also bought a sunflower oil spray from spinneys which I use all the time, just one spray is enough to coat your pan and then wipe it dry with kitchen paper. Hth Plum, Have you been able to find quark and low fat cottage cheese?

I attended a talk last night by the founder of monsters to muchkins in South Africa. She does home visits and there were two couples last night who had already had her over to their house, they seemed very pleased with the changes made. I think she is coming to the end of her stay in Dubai so if you want the details I'll post them. I was intrigued by her attitude to parenting and it really did make a lot of sense. From what I saw last night I would recommend her. I've also always heard only good things of Cecile de Scalley. Goodluck!

Your weren't kidding about the cost.....just found it at 200dhs for a small tin. Too much for me i'm afraid so will be finding alternatives to satisfy toddler's attachment to her night milk!

First week of Dukan completed today. 3 1/2 days of attack, the rest on the alternating PP and PV days. 4kg down and I feel so much better! Wow!! Well done, makes it so much easier to do the diet when you see the weight dropping off. I've lost 3,1kg so far. I did 4 days attack phase and today is day 5 of cruise. I'm just amazed I'm losing weight in all the right places. Keep us posted plum and if you can recommend anymore recipes you've tried please do.

Are you sure it is panic attacks? Just asking, as I suffer from asthma ONLY when pregnant with girls.....was very frightening the first time it happened because I had no idea what it was. It was also easily fixed with some ventolin. Apparently there is some legit link with asthma and girl babies. The crying can be normal, but if you feel really worried about your symptoms, you should get some medical help, or at least advice. That's interesting. I think it would be a good thing to rule out.

I had major depression during one of my pregnancies. It did not come out of the blue, there were circumstances adding to it also. At the time dr Nataliya at Cooper Clinic was my obgyn and I made an emergency appointment to see her when I felt I couldn't handle it by myself. She is not known for her bedside manner but on that day she was fantastic. In the end I went on to medication, not for every one I know, but necessary for me. So I really just want to tell you that there are several ways of dealing with this, counseling, relaxation techniques etc. and if those fail you can find a sympathetic doctor who will do what is best for you and your baby. Is there anything in particular that you can identify why this might be happening? Do you need more info on counseling or relaxation techniques?

From the reports I'm reading now, the minibus had a blowout and stopped in the middle of the road and the school bus ploughed into it. Now, obviously the bus driver was travelling too fast and too close - completely avoidable! If this is the case I agree it was completely avoidable too. Will listen out for reports on what has happened to the driver then.

Even if due to a tyre blow out and not reckless driving - not maintaining your vehicle and tyres (and especially a heavy vehicle like a bus) is just as bad as drivnig like a maniac as it puts other lives at safety. Glad the kids are ok. My understanding is that it was the other vehicle and not the school bus, did you hear it differently?

Thx purple. She is 2.4 years old and still very attached to her evening milk.....not the done thing I know but at the moment she is I'll and has been the whole of this year so for now I would prefer to give her the formula in the evening and if she doesn't like well ten she'll have to give it up there and then. The remainder of the restrictions Im very familiar with as I have a very good friend who is celiac and her children are too. Thanks for the Facebook reminder, I have actually looked it up before but forgot about it......today I feel like I need a new brain...one that's fuctionibg properly lol.

Radio news said vehicle in front had a tire blow-out and lost control of the vehicle, causing the accident with the school bus. 28 children on board, non of them had serious injuries and all were wearing seat belts. The driver has broken his leg. No info on the other vehicle's passengers.

Wow, must be very distressing for you. I don't think you should handle this on your own at all. If it were me in your position this is the place I would contact. Don't wait for an appointment, say it is urgent and in the contact email page write what you have said here on EW. If that is not enough to get you an immediate response I don't know what is. http://www.hridubai.com/services_clinical_services.htm If possible, try to make contact with Dr Raymond Hamdan

My little boy did the e sports camp last year (4) and loved it. He made friends which still remain friends today and he's asked me to go again this summer even though I had no intention of sending him as we'll be going away for the summer. I agreed to send him for two weeks though before leave. We went to DAA and will be doing it there again this year. Where we you thinking of sending him and will he be going with a friend?

I'm also looking for the recipe book so i'll post back if I find it. Today was day 2 of cruise phase and I'm pleased to report that on the second attempt of attack phase I did not have the same awful headache AND have lost weight, more than predicted on the dukan website! Attack phase was pretty easy for me to follow but today I was really craving toast and biscuits....but didn't give in!

When I calculated my true weight on the dukan site, it was recommended that I do attack phase for 3 days so tomorrow I'm looking forward to my veggies....and weightloss!

Lemondrops, you are an amazing mum and you've done an outstanding job with your baby and looking after yourself when you needed to. I see this as two problems, the feeding and then hubby being away a lot and the impending move. You are doing absolutely everything to find a solution to baby's feeding problem, and I believe you will continue to do just that until you find the right professional to help you with a solution. The second part is doing it alone, or as you mentioned 75% of thie time hubby is away for work, and then there is your eldest daughter who needs you too. Is it at all possible to have a trusted family member come over to help you? Or is it possible for you to go to them and possibly delay your move, yours and the children? I know it's nor ideal to be away from hubby but right now you probably need someone else who could share some of the burden with you. Lots of hugs X

Bikram yoga at club stretch was my first and only experience of yoga, and I absolutely LOVED it. You will be amazed at how quickly you progress and how far you can push your body in a very short time. It has been some time since I did a class there but when I did the instructors were very professional. It is definitely for absolute beginners too and you won't be pushed beyond what you feel you are capable of doing. Is your balance issue due to an injury ie pain or strength of the injured area?

I'm 3 months post c-section and have a horrible saggy mommy belly :( I started doing bikram yoga (hot yoga) here in Canada and I have seen inches come off in just 2 weeks. I don't know where they may offer that out there, but I'm looking to find a class as soon I settle in there. Check out the health and fitness forum. I previously added a website for bikram yoga on your thread.

As far as I know there is only one Bikram Yoga studio. It is quite far from the Marina area in the Satwa area next to Capitol Hotel. When I was doing classes they had excellent instructors and they have evening classes too (assuming you will want dh to care for baby). http://www.clubstretch.ae/

Go onto the dukan uk site and calculate you true weight. Once you've put in all your info the site will generate a graph tovshow how many days you should be on each phase and also show you how much weight you should lose in each phase. When I did mine it calculated that I should lose only 1,3kg in attack phase. You are correct that exercise starts in the second phase but if you are feeling up to it then why not start your daily walks. Good luck and keep us posted. I have the book if you need me to look up any more info for you.

I found the oat bran at lulu's. I thought we weren't allowed more than 7 eggs per week, if no cholesterol probs? I have followed the diet to a T and not lost ANYTHING. I am so disappointed.... And I suffered a major headache for which I had to go to the doctor. I do t know if it's related but these 2 factors have made me question if this is the right diet for me. Pls let me know how you all get on with your diet, I have not eaten anything today yet and still undecided if I should continue.

thanks SueB! I read your other posts about the Dukan diet and they were very helpfull too! I've got 0% greek yoghurt and had a little bit of that earlier. I'm just not sure if that is allowed freely or in small portions - I can't work out if that is what he refers to as "natural yoghurt". I haven't been able to find fomage frais and did try Lulu's for quark but none there today. Can I ask how you prepared your steak? I bought a really lean cut and it was only just edible! Water I'm really good with anyway, had my 1.5l by lunchtime!

To add my own experience along the lines of what Jesyka is describing, about the environment we live in, that is exactly what happened to dh. He had always had pets in the uk growing up and suffered from childhood asthma wish he outgrew. When we got a dog together he sometimes displayed signs of allergy but nothing beyond a couple of sneezes and red eyes, we never put it down to god allergy, rather hayfever! When we moved here with our poochwith gradually dh's asthma became worse and he eventually ended up in hospital on nebulizers, cortisone drips and now sees a pulmonologist monthly. Unfortunately we have had to rehome our dog and there has been a dramatic improvement in his asthma, although not completely gone. I completely understand both points of view on this thread. edited by gemm3210 on 27/05/2011
