I've tried a few. Tobi wasn't reliable and I also got a pretty expensive one from Sharaf DG (can't remember the name) but it was way too heavy and I wouldn't travel with it again. Saw one that looked promising in Carrefour a few days ago: Philips GC310 Steam & Go Handheld Garment Portable Travel Steamer Iron edited by Gentle on 28/09/2014

I agree TKD usually has the best sizes. Other options are Passionata and the Q Room- both are in Dubai Mall.

I used Eminence as a teenager and it really helped my skin. They claim to use all natural products and I find their Biodynamic line excellent. They also have powder sunscreen so that may help cover up the acne and give her self confidence a boost or perhaps a tinted sunblock.

I'd say check with people who have a similar concept already in operation. One that comes to mind is Mama Kinwa, Home Bakery used to be one as well. Check out how they do/did it and see if that would suit you. @Observer1 : Whenever I need documents delivered, I use Parzel or a similar local courier. They cost around 20 aed and can do same and next day delivery.

I tried Bliss for a while, but wasn't happy with it. I felt they focused more on the packaging/color/smell of the product than the actual effectiveness. Nothing wrong with it- it did the job, but only just. You can find them at Areej- they also have a treatment room there if want to test the products before buying them. My mom uses Eminence and swears by it. I have to say it has done wonders for her skin. You can find it here, but it would be cheaper to order on line. She was on No7 before, and liked that too but hasn't been back since starting on Eminence a few years ago.

When your boss calls half an hour before you're off and asks you to do something TODAY that takes 2 hours. Then when you send it to him, tells you he can't look at it because he is at home trying to unwind! *True story edited by Gentle on 11/06/2014

funny how no-one has mentioned the wastage of water...especially seeing as we live in a desert environment......Coming from Australia if everyone washed there would be no water........ ...and yet everyone washes their hands? and showers (well we hope they do) wanted to say showers too, then changed it as people already seem to think the hosepipe is used like a shower head instead of a light spray.

Wow- this thread is hilarious. Though I have to say, if your only argument against using water is that some people leave the toilet floor wet (which I agree is disgusting)- then what do you say when the area around the wash basins is covered with water? Certainly isn't an argument against washing hands after using the toilet! edited by Gentle on 10/06/2014 because the water around the toilet may be filled with faeces that have shot out - this is not liable to happen at the sink unless you are washing your **** in the sink ... I'm afraid to ask- but, how (and why) would it shoot out?

People who crowd in front of an elevator and push in once the door opens- to go up one level. Especially when all of them are men so no "high heels" excuse.

You can also buy it online and they throw in a bunch of samples if there is something you're interested in trying. Also, the variety/prices for the gift sets are much better than they are in stores. www.elemis.ae edited by Gentle on 01/06/2014

I tried determining a monthly "spending money on non essentials" allowance. it didn't work. I've been doing things a bit differently for the last year and it has helped. Once my salary is deposited, a pretty large amount is transferred to my savings account. Once the bank has helpfully deducted my car payments etc, I am left with my (perfectly-reasonable-but-in-no-way-extravagant) spending money for both essential and non essential items. Once you see that number in your bank account getting lower, you'll be a lot more careful. Withdrawing from my savings account requires a visit to the bank. I've set it up so there is no other way to access the money. I know these are all really small things, but they work.

Have you thought about gifting them a baby/family photo shoot? that could be a wonderful gift that will stay with them and that they may not splurge on themselves. Consider getting someone who will be flexible in taking the photo shoot to them :) edited by Gentle on 29/05/2014

Innsbruck is gorgeous. There is lots to see and do but it is also quiet and picturesque. Prices are good especially with the city card which pretty much covers most things. It is also on the way from Lyon to Vienna. We traveled to it by car (from Aachen) and loved it as the scenery is beautiful. It was quite a long drive, but we planned a stop on the way so it was fine for us. You could consider spending a night in Bern (or Thun) which is halfway to Innsbruck. http://www.innsbruck-pauschalen.com/en/ edited by Gentle on 19/05/2014

Bloomingdales do a Elemis facials I would say that is more of a refresher as it lasts 40 mins with the "consult". The actual facial takes abt 20-30 mins only. It is pretty good though!

I bought the book and registered it, so now I get all the new venues on my app (like The Pantry Cafe, Mayrig, etc) as well as the monthly deals. However, the app has all other vouchers locked.
