Sorry am I missing something here?? Why do you want to get married again if your original marriage is perfectly legal. Majority of the expat ladies out here have had to go through the process of having eveything authorised, attested and dear know what else. It just seems that you are making this harder than it already is, there are a number of companies who will do all this for you from start to finish. My DH left me a week after we were married!!! and I had around four weeks to turn everything else around. I set the certifiacte off to Milton Keynes to start with and then left the rest up to a company. It arrived here in plenty of time for me to get my visa without even having to do a visa run.

Quite easily. Everyone is out for what they can get nowadays, it's exactly the same when you're looking for somewhere to live

We paid less than that for a patio outside the back doors, some gravel to cover the rest and a palm tree. Everything else we bought second hand and then sold it on when we left.

Hi, Sorry if this seems like I'm hijacking the original post but I'm hoping someone can answer a question about Shop & Ship! If I order from Amazon, I enter the UK address given to me by Aramex on checkout. Then does it automatically get forwarded to the Dubai address I entered when I signed up for S&S? Or do I have to enter my Dubai address somewhere? x Yes it's automatically forwarded, so just use your UK address as given by Aramex. That's assuming you're shopping in the UK.

Very much sounds like a smoke screen. It wouldn't even surprise me if the LL is in Dubai and it is what they are just telling the agent! I think its time they met your husband!!! I really don't want it to come to that as I quite like living here now ;) Hahahahaha weeelll needs must GE!! My husband is quite a placid Geordie, it takes alot to get him going! But landlords, rent issues, and the terrible system for tenants revolving around leasing is one of the things that gets his goat! Mine's normally ok apart from when he's driving and I need to remind him to keep his hands on the wheel, or get deported :) This is different ball game dealing with LLs

We have "stayed on the case" the agent is getting an email one day and a text the next. He says that he doesn't know when the LL is returning, but we suspect that is just a smoke screen to try and make us give up. They haven't met my DH yet!!!! We've informed them today that we are going to RERA and taking legal advice unless we received the cheque (or cash) within 24 hours. Let's see what happens now, although I am not holding my breath.

Have you given the keys back yet? No deposit, no keys! Yes they know that, but the property is so easy to get into even without the keys, that that won't be a problem for them. All they need to do is change the locks. Also we know that it hasn't been re rented yet.

We used these guys http://promove.ae/ Yes we probably paid a little over the odds but it was the easiest move I've ever done. I would suggest calling them and not emailing though as they are very busy.

Any new experiences with this? My husband is flying to Dubai a week before me and the kids to start his new job and iqama process and look for a flat. The kids and I are planning to fly to join him on US passports (as visitors) and then convert our visitor status to permanent residence when it's possible, because we need to get there asap to register in schools. Can we enter with one-way tickets or do we need proof of a flight out? When I flew in on a single ticket, I just told them that I was coming to join my husband who was working here. No problems at all.

I am finding various websites confusing. We have the possibility to relocate to Dubai next year, but we have a 10 year old staffordshire bull terrier. its a dealbreaker if he can come or not. He is an Irish Staffordshire not American. Anyone know the exact rules/regulations on English/Irish Staffs. To get a definite answer, contact somewhere like Dubai Kennels and Cattery. They do a lot of animal relocation and will keep you right.

I have not tried the honey wax...whats that like? I am willing to travel as I have had some shocking experiences before.....just need a trusted place...I think its worth it. Thank you for the tips! I'll definitely recommend The Cure at Green Community, next to Park and Shop. They offer both types of wax and the atmosphere is excellent, lovely and quiet.

Hey guys I have not had any waxing done out here before.....a little scared about the quality....anyone know of good places to go? Ta. Depends on how far you're prepared to travel and hpw much you're prepared to pay? I go to The Cure at Green Community and I know I probably pay slightly over the odds and it takes me about 20-30 minutes each way, I think it's totally worth it.

Sorry I can't comment on what it's like out here, but when mine were babies I always took them with me every six months from being around one year old. My dentist just allowed them to sit on my knee while he was looking at my teeth and then he had a quick look at theirs just after. This went on for a number of years until they were used to him looking in their mouth and were able to sit in the chair themselves. He always said that you only needed a paediatric dentist if there were problems. I am sure if you have a regular dentist out here they will be more than happy to see you and your children.

Now that's interesting how much goods and services will go up... I wonder when the taxi fares will rise, as I would imagine that they will be the first to go up. Just done an interesting !!! calculation re petrol here and back in the UK Typical UK supermarket unleaded 95 price including retailer mark-up but excluding duty and VAT: £0.39.6 per litre. New UAE unleaded 95 price: £0.37.4 per litre.

Just had a meeting about this as I work in the auto industry and our finance teams have been advised that it is likely to increase to 4.4 per litre in the coming days. I'm hoping they have been misinformed....... It shouldn't do as this is the price set for the whole of August.

From Moodys http://www.thenational.ae/business/energy/uae-fuel-price-change-would-cost-about-387-per-head-this-year This isn't the actual cost yet just an idea If I worked it out correctly it will cost me an extra 25aed a month to fill my tank Well we're either both working it out right or wrong as I get approximately the same figure :)

I'm happy to tell you in a private mail... can you drop me a line on horizonmum2 at gmail dot com I would be really keen on finding someone who can help me with this situation! This is driving me crazy! I am trying to sign up for Careem but am getting nowhere. To validate my account, I have to enter a pin that careem sends to my phone. Easy, yes ? No! Every time I enter the pin that I am sent, it replies with oops, you have entered an incorrect pin. No I haven't ! And then I have to wait an hour to reapply. Aagghhhhh. If I didn't live in an area with no street names or villa numbers, I wouldn't even bother, but careem allows you to pin your house on a map, which means that they actually do turn up, unlike Dubai Taxis, who can't follow road directions! Anyone else had this problem? I have now made 7 attempts at this since last night! I think I might just remain a designated driver ? Why don't you call Careem customer service You beat me to it. Their customer care is usually very good.

What type of insurance are you looking for? We have used Zurich for all our insurance needs since we moved here 3 years ago We have contents insurance with Zurich too via HSBC, thankfully never had to claim, but seems straightforward and quite reasonable. Believe it's the LL's responsibility for buildings insurance, but someone correct me if I'm wrong Yes you're right. Buildings insurance is the LL responsibility.

I always go to Clarins in Dubai Mall and speak to the girl there, we have become quite friendly and she knows what I like and want. I then cheat and go somewhere like Paris Gallery to buy the products once the original one has run out.

The Minister of Energy did an interview on this and Dubai Eye played it this morning I can understand to a point what they are doing however most people who have the big litre cars can afford the hike He said he wants the low salary staff to use public transport, however not all of the metros have feeder buses or parking He said the increase wouldn't be too high and Diesel will be coming down in price We will have to wait and see I heard that too, but there is a lot of this that as you say won't work. I imagine that apart from the likes of gardeners and cleaners, a lot of low paid staff already use public transport. Yes Diesel will probably come down, but there are very few Diesel run vehicles on the roads here. To make it work effectively, they would have introduce a realistic and reliable public transport system to cover the outlying areas.

We wont know until August what the cost of fuel will be, but if fuel prices increase then surely other things will increase too as the cost of delivery's will increase. So potentially food costs could go up as well as the cost of taxis and public transport. We should find out on Tuesday what the cost will be for the month of August. Yes everything will increase, as no one will want to swallow the extra cost of fuel. Also I can't ever see prices coming down if/when the fuel costs do!! I drive a small car and to be honest feel safer in it as I know I can manouvere it out of any problems a lot easier than a large SUV. The tailgating and flashing I just ignore. Just to add can you imagine the cost to some of the delivery places if they have to have their menus reprinted.

OK so in the overall scheme of things, for most of us doubling the price of fuel won't break us. Has anyone given a thought to the workmen, most of whom need their cars to get around. A lot of them may have to leave because of this.

Nope :) but thanks, more an oval shape, but with lining. Small more basket size - so I can easily fold the clothes neatly so they don't get over creased. I've got something like this, but I brought it from the UK http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-40l-plastic-laundry-basket-grey/205-0407.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=205-0407 Have a look in ACE they had a good selection of baskets

Compared to home fuel is extremely cheap here It will be interesting to see how much it goes up by though Compared to home, education is much more expensive here. Compared to home, apples are ridiculously expensive here. Compared to home, for the same price I can rent a house with a garden I can only rent a 1BR apartment here. Compared to home... Useless comparison. Sorry. Hence the reason I said "It will be interesting to see how much it goes up by" And with the price of oil as it is now!!
