Well....seems baby has another few days :) No more dilation. Obviously a little disappointed initially as I had sort of got my hopes up. Doctor seemed so sure! Absolutely delighted that we are both healthy though and am happy to wait until baby's arrival! Would be funny if it was tomorrow! :)

My Doctor wants to see me at 8.30am on Tuesday as she thinks I will be ready then...I don't know. Lots of people seem to think I could be 1cm dilated for a while but Doctor seems very confident baby will be born within the week....will report back after Tuesday :)

Hope that is the case with the rent. They seem to be at least 110000 dhs now. We only paid 90000 for ours and that was 14 months rent. WH Smiths is open now! It is a really big branch. Great place for picking up birthday cards and gifts. I am delighted. Just down the corridor from Spinneys. :) edited by gingercat on 18/02/2012

I am taking a few months unpaid and then hope to return to work. Hope all you ladies are keeping well xx

I had 2 miscarriages. One at 8 weeks 3 days and one at 5 weeks. Both started with brown spotting. For my current pregnancy I had brown spotting until 10 weeks. At 8 weeks I had a massive bleed of bright red blood and passed some clots. Was certain all was over. I am now 37 weeks pregnant with that baby. There is no consistency with bleeding. Everything may be fine. I will pray for you and your little one. Let us know how you get on. Thinking of you with much love at this difficult time xxxxx

I agree with a practical approach. There is nothing anyone can say to make your friend feel better...but like Green-ish suggested...maybe a cooked meal or something nice for your friend like a voucher for a massage for when she is feeling up to it, some flowers, chocolates anything that lets her know that you are thinking of her. You don't have to call over and sit with her for hours but keep in regular contact via text, email, quick phonecalls, anything to let her know that you are there for her. Don't worry if you don't get a respose. I remember one of my closest friends didn't get in touch with me for a few days as she 'wanted to give me space' but I actually felt hurt that she hadn't contacted me sooner. People grieve in different ways. Already you have shown that you are a good friend by asking what is the best thing to do. She is lucky to have a friend like you x

Thanks so much Amelia. Hubby is a building services engineer. (civil background) Trying to stay positive but it is hard! My main priority is this pregnancy. Trying not to get stressed for the sake of the baby. I hav not come this far to fall at the final hurdle. Hubby and I have been through so much this past year so I have to pray that things will work out for us. x

Hi ladies. My husband has just been given the news that he is to be made redundant. He has been given 30 days notice and just to make things worse his last day is our first baby's due date. As well as having all the financial worry we now don't know what is going to happen with baby's visa...can I sponsor baby on my visa as I have my own working visa? With only a few weeks to go, this is really the worst possible timing. I am trying to stay calm and positive. Hubby is planning to continue looking for another job. We had no plans to leave but now I don't know what we should do...I am so worried about how we are going to pay rent etc. Luckily baby can go on my medical insurance and have been using my own medical insurance for maternity or it would be so much worse. Have any of you been in this situation? All advice gratefully appreciated. x

I was plagued with chapped lips all through my teens and could not go anywhere without Vaseline, Labello etc. I found I got addicted to using Vaseline when I used it on dry lips...I kept needing to put it on all the time and had to wean myself off it! I think you cannot beat Carmex for sore lips. Rarely need to use it and doesn't soak in easily. Having said that I found that the only think which cleared up patches of severely dry skin on my face was Vaseline. Nothing else was intense enough. edited by gingercat on 02/02/2012

Delighted to see that there is a Green Nappy morning coming up in February. Quick question for the washable nappy ladies. What washing powder do you use? I am completely lost as all the recommended ones do not seem to be available in Dubai. Also, what is your regular washing routine? Pre-wash, wash, extra rinse etc??? Thanks in advance!

Hi novice. You can buy a Phil and teds in bumblebee in dubai mall. A bit more expensive than home but definitely a lot less than getting one shipped over. I got my buggy in the uk and got a friend to bring it out to avoid the outrageous shipping costs x

Yes, Empower is expensive if you are paying the standard charges. Paying charges on top of rent adds 6000 dhs to our rent for a big 3 bed. I assume it would be a lot less for a one bed. Never thought about white goods as we had all of our own when we moved in so it wasn't an issue. We are in tower C which is the one at the end nearest Emaar Boulevard/8 Boulevard walk. Pool is right at the bottom of our building which is great. All the towers seem to be pretty much the same to me :) edited by gingercat on 22/01/2012

In a way the pain almost made me feel better though because I was hurting so much inside. I am so so so sorry you have to go through this. Sending you lots of hugs and prayers xxxx

I have been using Bio Oil every night and so far have no stretch marks; again I don't know whether this is down to luck! If nothing else my bump is beautifully soft...even my husband has noticed! I also rub a little Bio Oil on my face each night as I have very dry skin and it has helped that too. I swear my face looks a bit less wrinkly! (Frown marks...) It is expensive...around 150 dhs for the large bottle but I got it on 3 for 2 in boots a few months ago. Also....I have been using it every day for months and still am on the first bottle with about a quarter left! It smells lovely too. I am a convert! :)

I ordered mine from an American website called Pinstripesandpolkadots.com. They were 17 dollars each I think. It cost 66 dollars to ship to here (I chose one of the more expensive ways to ship and had them in a week) and I had to pay 95 dhs to customs on arrival. This was the only website I could find that would ship to here without costing the earth. For me it worked out the same price as buying them at home and getting someone to bring them out. I bought 16 and will get my sis to bring out a few more in April if I am happy with them. Honestly, they are adorable and the colours are gorgeous. Hubby loves them. He was expecting tea towels and pins! lol You don't need shop and ship etc. edited by gingercat on 18/01/2012
