I' sure some of the other ladies can help you with some better advice than what I've got because I have no idea how to get such a young baby to sleep on their own. But have you thought about getting a baby carrier or a baby sling? that way he gets his comfort and you can do things such as eating, laundry, not showering obviously!! sorry I cant be more helpful with getting him to sleep on his own. It was on and off with my girls when they were so young, sometimes they'd nap on their own and sometimes not.

Oh, the little darling. He wants his mummy. Personally, I think at 6 weeks he's still too young to be left to cry it out or to get him into a routine. Others may disagree with me. For me, I did have my girls in their own cots from birth, but if they wanted cuddles they'd get cuddled. I started them on a routine at 3 months, and honestly it was so easy to implement, you just have to be tough and not give up. It doesn't take long anyway. IMHO I would keep giving him what he needs, he's still so attached to you.

Hi Mrs B. you're doing soooo well!! I'm really amazed that you are still expressing and giving formula as well. How old are your babys now? I'm a twin mum too. Mine are now 4 and a half. I do remember the days when I struggled to feed the little one (she was much smaller) I used to do like you, undressing, wiping the face etc. The only thing extra I did was stimuate her by pressing and rubbing my thumb/finger under her chin. Well, behind it actually. The soft part under the mouth (tongue) it used to help. Do you mind me asking why it is you wake them to feed them? The beauty of night feeds is that they suck while they're asleep. Usually. Your babies might still be quite young and I presume premature. If you hold them in the dark, keeping them asleep, usually the sucking reflex is strong enough that they will drink the bottle while still asleep. Most find that this is the quickest and easiest feeding of the whole 24 hours - while they're asleep. Try stimuating him under the chin. Hopefully it helps. Do you have a maid or anyone helping you? I really hope so. I had my 80 year old grandmother helping me for the first 3 months. It was so hard. We were exhausted and poor grandma lost weight :( as we both weren't able to eat much! I found fabric wallpaper in dragon mart.when u buy from them they also have people to hang it for u. Id be dubious of doing it myself with fabric as they tell u to pin it to the wall while the glue is drying.not likely with concrete walls!

BBlue, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss :( And especially that it was preventable. Honestly, I think sometimes so-called third world countries give better treatment in hospitals - I'm speaking from experience. We have the same problem in Austalia. As a mother of twins who were born prematurely, I cant begin to imagine what you went through. My heart goes out to you. xx

We have an invitation to visit Lebanon this summer. We'd be staying in Beirut. Do you think it will be safe to go? it depends on when it is. at the moment the situation is very volatile. It could flare up any moment. However, everything could change in a couple of weeks. its hard to predict. It would be great if you could go, but only if things quieten down over there

I have to collect my grandson from Building Blocks Nursery in Motor City at 1.30 every day from next week. I live in Motor City, not far from Spinneys. I dont drive in Dubai and wondered if anyone has a child in Building Blocks finishing at the same time who can please drop me at my home which is literally 2 mins drive from the Nursery. I am told that a taxi company wont do short journey so am a bit stuck. I am very happy to pay someone for their kindness. Dont know how else to get round the problem. That's really silly that a taxi wont do that as there is a minimum charge of 10DHS. In the summer I view it as excusable that people get taxis for short distances. I suppose though, that you would have to book a taxi, not hail one, which I guess is a different story if I driver is coming off the rank to collect you. Hope someone can help you out.

Magrudy's in Al Wahda mall has some crafty bits as well (yarn etc) and Daiso is also worth a look for weird and wonderful (and cheap) stuff. For sewing things, there are some small haberdasher and fabric shops in the streets opposite the car park of Madinat Zayed. Thanks Beany

Wish me luck!! ahhh ok... new driver... i can only imagine how crazy and confusing the dubai roads must be for you... okay i will try and offer directions in as clear a way as possible... when on SZR heading from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, take the D63 exit to Umm Suqeium road... that means you are going over that interchange and onto the left side... when you come down the interchange on the other side you keep driving straight... on your right you will see Mall of the Emirates, then PanEmirates furnishing store, a SUBWAY, Party Centre store... and then a petrol pump (with MCDees) and a service station with Hardees... you will also see the back wall of the LuluSupermarket... keep driving straight... don't go right or left... and go past the traffic lights... this road eventually leads to Al Khail Road, Emirates Road, Motorcity/Arabian Ranches... but you will not need to drive much further... around 500-750metres after that traffic light you will see this craft store on your right hand side.

Thanks AbbynChristina. I'm a new driver, so not confident I know where you are talking about (and driving while looking is tricky!). Do you mean headind in the Sharjah Direction, I take the exit just after the MOE Metro station? If I'm correct, this is Umm Suqeim Road. I went down there the other day and couldn't find the store. Is the petrol pump and the store on the right hand side? there is a HUGE craft store in barsha... if you were to take the exit off SZR going towards MOE/Lulu/Barsha, then keep going straight past the petrol pump, then at the signal, go straight again... and as you go forward you will see this on your right... there's a lot of new buildings (salons/cafes/stores, etc.) that are being developed on the right there... alternatively also try this store called WASCO... they are a craft store/teaching supplies store in the Beach Centre (the mall with the Burger King and Automatic Restaurant on the ground floor) in Jumeirah 1 area

Hi Everyone, I am from India, and my husband and I are moving to Abu Dhabi this year. He will be moving in July and I will join him a month or two later. We are making a short trip to UAE this sunday to check out some places to stay at. Can any of you please be kind enough to help me out and give me some suggestions about the areas we should consider staying at? We are both Aircraft Engineers, and will be working at the International Airport. So want to look for an apartment close to the airport. Also what things do I need to know and check out before landing up there? What documents I should have, should carry at all times, etc.. ? I am sorry if I sound too clueless, this is the first time I am moving to another country. Thanks in advance.. Wow, go girl!! An aircraft engineer - great to see!!. I've just moved to Abu Dhabi myself. I'm sure you'll settle in.

LIFE and Aster pharmacies definitely all out of stock. I was expecting for my company pharmacy to have some this week but they too are out. We were there for only 3 days last year and had a fantastic time :) My husband is very good at reading maps, we hired a moped and sped around the city for 3 days. There was not any attraction we missed out on seeing! Although I would have liked at least half a day to see Vatican City.

I know that "risk to a company" is correct, but "impact to a company" is not. So which prevails in this case? when we first moved here my sat nav was a godsend - yes you do have to allow for it sometimes telling you to do a U-turn where one is not possible etc but as long as you don't just follow it blindly and use your common sense it's ok...still use it now when I go somewhere new or need an alternative route etc... thanks pikachu. what do i look for when wanting a good one? anyone know? im completely clueless ith these things

Hmm, I don't know. I guess it should. Hopefully someone else knows. By the way, I guess you start work at 8 then?? ? yes I start early. Unfortunately there is no work for me to do at the moment, my boss says it's coming. When it's busy, it's really busy and when it's quiet, it's dead! No complaints though, I love my job and really enjoy the actual work.
