Yes a PRO to figure out the maid mess while you see if you actually have a house to move into at all. The PRO is useless, absolutely useless. He hates to work. I wont say where he is from, but this is 90% of the problem with timing issues getting anything done in this country :(

You might find that he has conned a lot of people into big deposits and done a runner. If it's his villa, how many people has he given the keys to? And as to why Ginnee gave the deposit, perhaps out of desperation as villas are very hard to get in Abu Dhabi these days. All speculation of course, and hoping it all works out. no they are not, there are plenty around at the moment, there is one by me with a very nice landlord, but they are still quite expensive compared to dxb and have always been more expensive than dxb, its a "closed shop" here. BB, where is this villa you are talking about, and how much is it? we may have to find a new, legitimate one and try to sue the landlord, but hubby doesnt think we'll get far trying to sue an emirati :(

From now on all AD employees must live in AD. hence the move. We got this for a good price. And the landlord had the tenancy contract attested, we thought it was all good, but it seems it was a fake attestation :(

Ok first sort out your maids visa, go to Satwa and organize to bring her back on a visit visa - it will cost about 1200Dhs for the visa and it can be done in 2 days - you will have to leave a security deposit, which will be returned when the visa is cancelled. Bring her back and you have 60 days to get her employment visa organized. Get her out of kish asap - its a really terrible place and those girls have to do awful things to survive if they have no money - also that way you can still work. thanks for this advice will tell hubby

Here is the scenario: My husband is sponsoring a maid to look after my girls while I am at work. We found a good maid, she was here on a tourist visa, she is now on Kish Island and we are doing her residency – it is supposed to only take 24-48 hours). My husband works in Abu Dhabi and we are moving there this week – I will travel to Dubai to work every day. This is all good. But today my husband went to Abu Dhabi immigration to do her visa and now they are telling him he needs to show an electricity bill to them before they can give a visa for the maid. The problem is, the Landlord of the new villa we are moving to, unbeknownce to usgave us a fake electricity bill (immigration alerted us to this - it is a villa which he divided, so the bill is under his name, we need one under my husbands name)! We have already given the landlord 40,000 AED deposit, and he has cut his phone, his number is no longer working. We have keys for the villa and are scheduled to move in on wednesday. I really don't know what to do. Now I have no one to look after my girls while I work. The poor maid is stuck on Kish Island with 200AED and cant travel without a visa. What to do? I don't know what to do!! Any ideas or experience with this?

I started travelling on my own when I was about 8 years old. It was only from NZ to Australia, but I was very well looked after, getting on the plane, on the plane and in the terminal at arrivals. They took me all the way through to the person meeting me at the other end. I'm sure Emirates would give you very good service regardless of what it's like in Brazil. There must be other ladies her to give you some experienced advice. I loved travelling on my own :)

Dr Raymond Hamden is also highly recommended, and a lovely man. see what apt you can get with him, then write him an email telling him briefly about your situation and that you dont have insurance. Ask him if he can help you out with the price

I don't think Johanna Richmond is a psychiatrist though. So she cant prescribe meds. But I would call her and book an appointment anyway - if you can get in to see her sooner than the others. There's also Melanie Schlatter, psychologist. I've been to her, she's very nice.

While I'm not recommending you do this as all the advice seems to be it shouldn't be done, I have twice been on anti depressants and both times just decided to stopped taking them suddenly and had no ill effects. I'm saying this just to illustrate that it is possible to come off them without the process taking years. Better to do it under medical supervision though (I did not but had not been on them very long, first time a few months, second time a few weeks). I can't remember about the first time as it was so long again but the second time I was getting no help such as counselling and I found myself an NLP (neuro linguistic programming) coach and after 2 or 3 sessions with her I felt immeasurable better and stopped the medications. That was 13 years ago and I've never had depression again so there is hope. Good luck and hope you find the help you need soon :) Can u pls tell us more about nlp and whether u had it in Dubai?

Does anyone know of a good psychiatrist in Dubai? Trying to go get off my antidepressant but hasn't been easy by my self:( Apparently you can't just go to a GP over here to get off it. Thanks Ro Why are you trying to go off them? The reason i ask is that i have been on them too and used to try to go off them and always end up in a mess. Last time i almost lost my marriage. I came to realise that this is me. When i take my medication, im fine. I have an illness and there is nothing wrong with taking medication if it makes me well. This is my personal experience. There are alot of good drs here, im sure the other ladies can suggest one. Mine is away until mid july, otherwise i would recommend him.

the psychologist at the Osteopathic Health Centre next to Choitrams on Al Wasl Road is 450AED - having seen several who she's not clicked with, my DD has found her fine, but that's not to say that your friend will as we're all different and what suits one doesn't suit others. I'm addicted in Pinterest at the moment and saw a pin on how to create your own stencils. You print out the design you want, attach it to a big piece of plastic, and then use a special stencil-cutting 'knife' to cut it, but it's a knife with a hot tip, which melts the plastic so you get smooth edges for fine lines in your stencilling. Does anyone know if they are available here? Also I'm still looking out for that Kryolan mirror effect spray paint if anyone has come across it :)

You are spot on AmyAus. Well written, good advice. I like what she said about forgetting about this concept about the romance of marriage. That is for fairytales. Honestly. The real world is not like that. Yes we all want romance but once you have kids it's something you really have to work on. Like Amy said, romance with your baby. Let he or she be the love of your life. "invest in yourself" Yess!!!!! "Emotionally divorce him and marry (fall in love with) yourself." YESSSS You are top priority now. You and your baby. This is your time. Just live with him like a flat mate. You never know, after some time, he may wonder why he isn't having any emotional effect on you anymore and realise he needs to change himself. Live for yourself and your baby. Get counselling. Get strong. It is not easy but you can do it and you have alot of allys here. The other advice about getting in touch with Pakistani womens groups is great advice. Or your embassy for advice and help. Great support here .... take good advantage of it. THIS IS YOUR TIME NOW.

It's great to see there are Pakistani ladies here who have been in somewhat similar circumstances. Culture is a big player in all of this, and must be carefully considered. Lynette, I hope you reach out to the other Pakistani ladies and let them take you under their wings. Regardless of the decision you eventually make, it's great and needful to have their support.

I think the reason lynette was and is in a catch 22. She was stuck in a terribly abusive situation living with her dad and she is willing to stay in this marriage because it is better than the life she [b'>[/b'>was living with her dad. Its called the lesser of two evils. It's all very well to question why she chose to fall pregnant to a man like this (if she knew about the cheating) but unless we've been in similar situations of abuse ourselves, its impossible to judge or comprehend. Lets not be too quick to judge. I do believe there is an element of abuse syndrome which has been ingrained from early childhood. Counselling will help lynette. Does anyone have recommendations? I like Amer Saaeddin. He's not arrogant, highly qualified and very genuinely concerned. Also quite reasonably priced. I go to him. He's lovely. Keeping in mind that lynette is pregnant.as a chronic sufferer of depression, I had no choice but to stay on my meds while I was pregnant. But hopefully there will be some way of relief without going that route. I think just talking about it, and receiving encouragement is a big step. <em>edited by Ginnee on 26/05/2013</em>

Yes, logical question ladies, but you can use this paint to turn plain vases and even old bottles or jars into amazing pieces of art work :) Have a look on pinterest. You can also make antique mirror effects on glass in a frame or whatever to get that antique look that is now so popular and oh-so-expensive :) Hi Ginnee now that you've explaned I want some :) seriously look for it on pinterest it will astound you and make you want it even more!!

I'm afraid I have to disagree with most of you lovely ladies. In my late 30s I developed recurrent hormonal acne on my chin and no matter what I did I couldn't get rid of it, for 2 weeks a month my chin was a mess. I started going for regular dermalogica facials and they never did very much for me, but I though I should keep going. However, recently I changed to Guinot hydradermie facials and they have completely changed my skin. It is glowing, no more breakouts. I go about once every 6 weeks-2mths and when things start to go bump on my skin it reminds me that I havn't been for a while. It definitely keeps my skin in check. The rest of the time I'm pretty lax with my skincare routine - exfoliating etc but I swear by the correct facials. FFx Do you mind me asking how much this costs? and where you get it done

There's something wrong here .. especially in Dubai ... where private schools make these differences a parents problem .. some schools provide support .. and other schools threaten to withdraw a place for them... I SAY ... it's time to put a stop to this madness... It's about time schools become creative ... and understand that when a child IS NOT DOING WELL in their classroom .. it may actually have something to do with the teacher ... and NOT the child ... just my opinion .... AMEN SISTER That's all I have to say as I can't really see much changing for a long, long time :(

I purchased Jotun brand at ACE and it was fantastic! I painted a dark grey colour on a white wall and only needed one coat. Definitely better than any paint I've ever used. :) Great, thanks for that :-)

As well as all the other suggestions, as a last resort, i would look into chemical depression. you don't neccessarily have to have things going wrong (to feel depressed about) to suffer from depression. Depression is not always about feeling down and sad either. It can entail a lack of motivation and lack of energy. The other suggestions were really helpful. Be pro-active and tackle them one by one by a process of elimination. Don't let yourself live like this if there is a likeihood that you don't have to. I speak from personal experience. As we all know some of us are suffering from hair loss here, sometimes I think I'm the only one. After putting my hair up in a pony tail last night I noticed how thin my pony tail looked. :-( I'm looking for a donut to kind of put some height and lift to my pony tail, i'm sure it'll look better than what it did last night. I also noticed ladies recently with very neat buns; how do they do that? Is that with this donut thing? :) #amateur I recently saw on utube a tutorial how to make a bun using an old sock.looked good.google it :-)
