Try the new Al Adil stores near Abu Dhabi Mall. It's a pretty big outlet and may have what you're looking for. Also Al Adil in Electra Street might have it... Good Luck...:))

There's a bus station at Al Ghubaiba where the Bus starts from. The ticket I believe is for 30 dhs and the 2 hour journey is comfortable, some times you can buy snacks or drinks on the way. Take the volvo bus instead of the normal bus which plies in the cities. The frequency is pretty good and they are usually lined up one after the other in case there're more people headed to Abu Dhabi and can't be fitted in one bus. Families and women are given preference while getting on the bus so I hope you'll be able to get a seat sooner than single men who stand in a separate line. Taxis are cheaper in Abu Dhabi with no minimum 10 dhs fare limit and are very easy to catch from almost anywhere. HTH edited by GoodieBag on 21/04/2013

Thanks for the reply ladies. The only trouble is both of us are working. I work 6 days and he works 5 so I get lesser time to plan stuff. However, Desert bike rides sound nice. Can you suggest where and how do I book it?? Any more ideas are more than welcome. From what I think he would want a party at home(he's VERY sociable) on the weekend before or after his birthday and maybe do a dinner on the actual day(Sunday). I want to do something special. It's his big 30th after all. Wish men will ever be half as excited as we are even when our birthdays are 2 months away. LOL.

Hey Bella, Thanks so much for the reply. I finish work by 6-6:30 and just feel like taking a nap after I get home. If it was only my schedule I had to manage I would have been doing things at my own pace. But it is the husband's whims that take over my own wishes. He's very supportive though but we both want to spend some time together after a long and tiring day(he usually comes home by 6:30-7). We have an amazing gym in the building but I've only gone there thrice(while I was jobless), I went for a few RPM classes too in between but haven't been able to get the momentum going. Just feel sleepy most part of the day and wish a crane would take me to the gym or RPM. Yeah I've become that lazy! I've lost a lot of weight(30kgs) in the past but I think complacency has set in now. Coupled with other things that change once you get married but I don't want to break records, just want to be what I was 10 months ago. Sigh!

Depending where your fiance is working(Ground staff or Corp. Office), you can look at Al Bandar. It is across the airport and a lot of people working with Etihad stay there(including some of our friends). There are a lot of European families living there and I've seen dogs in the area so bringing yours should not be a problem. They have apartments so in case you're looking at staying in a villa, then Khalifa City A or B would be your best bet. On the other hand, if he will be working in the city, then I believe Etihad does provide accommodation in Al Reem Towers in downtown, close to their office.
