Seven Seconds, 2 weeks is very long - as per my own experience it was only 5 days - that I did bring up that this boy who bullied my DS was on his 3rd count ....so on the 3rd time I did bring the red alert and on the same day I did talk with the school, the very same evening did get in touch with KHDA, so on the next day when picking up my child, the teacher and school councillor did approach me with words like that nothing had happened - the bully was 12 and my child was 5 in that time - and kept repeating the assistant teacher did not see any contact between them, then I brought up that I had rises a complain with KHDA, they told me they will do a deep investigation in that matter... the next day, they gave me the response that I waited for: the bully had been removed from the bus facility and won't use it again, and asked me to withdraw my complain as the situation had been resolved.

Hi OP, I believe your son is afraid from falling into the toilet! My both children were the same, you can always sit with him and talk with him about pleasant things that big boys do, like going to school, having more friends, have his own school bag... etc. You can always tell him that the wees need to go to the toilet, so they can be with their friends! I know some of you will laugh at this one, but children do like these stories. I had treats" little toys " hidden once the mission done the child get the treat - not lollies or chocolate - and these treats are in a big plastic jar labelled toilet treats, so he can see the wonderful treats are waiting to be collected once he do the job, place this jar on a high point in the bathroom, if nothing available, you can have it at a shelve that is near to the bathroom and he can not reach it with a chair - they can be sneaky :) - sometimes running water while you are doing this little conversation do the trick and the sound of the water make him just go :D - last thing....it's not an easy job! Good Luck, you will need it :) <em>edited by Gorobattie on 19/11/2013</em>

Seven Seconds, If no one is doing anything because the bully is a golden child, may I suggest you go directly to KHDA? They do help in situations like that, you can always tell the school that you did file a complain with KHDA regarding this, and this will make the school do something to resolve the situation. Specially the KHDA inspection will be done starting from next week. Couple of years it did happen to one of my children and I did involve KHDA and saying that I did file a complain work as magic. Now I can see signs every where in the school that it's a bully free school. HTH

That will need dedication from your side to terrorise the invading cat! Keep garden hose ready when ever this cat arrive, and you can always spray it with water, after couple of times it won't come around again, had this with my cats as there were a mean street cat invading the neighbourhood, and I did stop it from coming around. This boy had been encouraged by an adult in his family, believe it or not, but I did witness some parents that so proud to have a boy - like it was an achievement ! - and do encourage these little boys to kiss hug and more than this, I remember a friend of my sister saying proudly how the teacher in the class separated that boy from a specific girl in the class, as he keeps touching this girl - like a man! - with no remorse on the mother face, bare in mind that boy was only 7 years old! this woman I did gave her a piece of my mind and how by her irresponsibility she is raising a pervert, not a man! OP, you need to get your DD to not let anybody, young or adult, man or a woman - specially in her tender age - can touch her, if it happen, then she must tell the teacher about it, as this is wrong. If it was me, I would go at the pick up time in the school, ask my DD to point out this boy, then I will talk to his parent(s) who will be picking up him, and this should stop it.

I thought she could sponsor her herself since she is employed. My prior housemaid has a sister that lives here too. Her sister is also a housemaid and sponsored my maid originally as a tourist. That is how I met her, on a tourist visa. We had to change her visa over once we hired her but it was not expensive. Does a maid earn enough to sponsor someone ?? DT, I think the maid went to a travel agency and done this to her sister.

Lolacat, I did go throw the survey, this year they made changes, so you can address what you want as per the grade your children in, I mean from the the start of the survey you choose what grades your children in, then they give questions for the different grades your children are in. I hope this could make sense of what I posted. the pick up times are important like all the other aspects I posted below, the school last year assured all parents they will assist and it will be easy to help parents to have their children in the waiting room, this year they were difficult and the first thing been told( you know the dismissal is 1 PM, then I showed them a print out of the email sent last year then things went easy with me, what about a family is going throw the 2 different pick up times and this is the first year for their kids? They have different dismissal timings to reduce traffic in the area, however they created a bigger problem when having parents do the different pick up times, that doubled the problem and did not solve it at all. as for less art, music and PE classes AND arabic as well, I am not happy with this at all, so it all went along in the survey and I did include my info so I can be present when the inspection take place, KHDA do invite parents to attend the inspection so I will be there. <em>edited by Gorobattie on 04/11/2013</em>

Just got off the phone with KHDA: It's a new requirement to send one envelop to one family if the children are attending the same school and to be sent to the elder one. All parents get the survey card, if children attending different schools - say 2 children in 2 schools- then 2 cards to be sent. No selective grades allowed, as every family have the right to voice their concerns, praise the practice of a school. Now I can contest with the school why it's closed on Thursday, as KHDA now is aware of this.

I never thought about that, Gorobattie, but why would they send out an email saying all students should get one if they're just filling them out themselves? I have no idea Anon, but the fact the each survey is about this child experience and what the parent discovered or touched throw his/her child. If you filled the survey, you will find it's very extensive questions about one child, only in the beginning will ask you how many kids in the same school, then you chose which one is the survey about, and the name of the child is labeled on the envelop out side... saying that selective grades will do the survey is total BS - sorry - and it's sent from KHDA to the school to be distributed to the students, then the parents do the survey. that's why I was waiting these cards and now I can't get a straight answer from the school, and waiting for the KHDA call...

I have a vague recollection that I got an email saying that I should receive one for each child, but that was a few weeks ago and I never received any. Then last Thursday I received one saying that the KHDA had chosen certain grades for a special survey. I filled out that survey and that's it... Anon, may I say that the school are filling these reports on the behalf of the parents? 3 years ago and I got in touch with KHDA for some reason and discovered that every kid or child attending a school here receive this card, not selective grades or one card per family.....

I got one for my eldest but not my youngest and they're at different schools !! At my youngest's school we were told we don't all have to fill them in... (I usually forget anyway !! lol) but there were some spares if we wanted to... As per the survey, parents responses and the inspection they are big catalysts to give schools reviews that allow them to rise the fees! my younger child is dismissed at 1 PM, only 1 PE class per week, 1 music class per week, 1 arts class per week, no swimming for him and more fees paid this year - comparing my elder with the younger, and been on a waiting list for the waiting room to pick the younger at 2 PM, as 2 school pick ups killed me, and if the parent is late for the late pick up 3 times, the child is literally kicked out of the waiting room and must be picked up at 1 PM and won't be allowed to be in the waiting room! So I have my share of complains against the school

Much better bet. The other employer will want you to pay her for costs, and remember there are two sides to every story ... Exactly Dolley... If this maid is ( can't wait to leave her employer) you need to see what could be with you... They say when you are being interviewed for a job, never ever tarnish your previous or current employer....it goes as well with maids...take care OP.

I don't want to get involved in this. Do Sri Lankans have to be sponsored to visit Dubai (daughter is going to be looking for a job)? Does anybody know if this is usual? Do not get involve in this, she can always get her doughter a visits visa throw so many travel agencies in UAE, and yes she will have to put a security bond cash or cheque with them....do not get involve, as a sponsor you will be responsible for that girl actions, and as it's not allowed for visit visa holders to work with it, do not get yourself into situations you don't know.

OP, you can always keep your place cat free if you regularly sprayed hot chilly peppers in water, strain them, then have this juice in a spray bottle and spray any place the cats are frequenting. As for your situation, you have 2 choices: A) Call the municipality, knowing these cats all will be killed, and you have to live with this idea. B) just be patient, wait at least these cats manage to be able to defend itself and get rid of them, may I suggest you spray the trampoline and your kids play area, so the mum cat do not go there, so the kitties will follow her mum's foot steps, and once you get rid of these cats, the place they were staying in, please spray with that juice like every day for a week. I found this juice thing on the internet, and it did magic for me, it will stop cats from coming around, leaving their business cards (lol) as these animals have a very sensitive nose, and it will hurt them from a distance, so they won't come in your garden. sending a text back is totally different than what the link says. and if you send a text back like( do not call again, Or stop bothering me....etc) this is all ok by the law. sending sms contain certain things like( I will do such and such " intimidating " type ) Or if I see you/ call me again I will break you....etc) this is credible threat and yes can land you in trouble. However I did take a harasser to the police, and showed them sms been sent to me by him, and ams from me asking him to stop or I will go to the police and it was fine with the police. OP just go and file a report against this harasser, send the message out for every harasser that they can not get away with their unruly actions. The police will make him sign a paper states he will never ever contact you again, and if you - the OP - received anonymous text or phone calls like that again, then you have the right to get him as the first one to be questioned and maybe will have charges pressed against him. Oh yeah they will get him.

You need to get in touch with labour office and immigration, you need to go there in person and if you need to file a case, then you should do, explain everything and bring along the papers and all the communications you have and most important you have to have a complain over this hassle. this is the best thing I have for you and you really need to do this ASAP, as you have a very tight schedule if you want to get out of UAE before end of november. Your strict disciplarian comment also sets alarm bells ringing for me particularly within this context. I'm not saying I disagree with strict discipline ( I'm quite strict with mine) but it can indicate a control issue and combined with what else you've said it def sets alarm bells ringing. I'm not saying for a min it's true in this case but in a couple of the worst cases I saw the parents fabricated stuff about others but in reality it was found to be them who were carrying out the abuse. I'm not saying for a min this is what is happening here but def alarm bells ringing. I do agree with you Feefmick, if the parents not that proactive to investigate and solve their child problems, then I tend to believe that there is something wrong happening in that family. I do remember 3 years ago, DS used to attend school bus facility with his school, and there were a 12 years old boy bothered DS - he was only 5 years then - first time he was shouting at him, and I told this boy not to do so, informed the bus attendant and the driver and told DS not to talk with this 12 years old boy, second time tried to bribe DS by giving him money to be friend with him, again I give this money back to the boy with witnesses of the whole bus - students, attendant and the driver - third time he was teasing DS and tried to kiss his ear!!! in that point it was already the last day of the school week, tried to contact anybody in the school and the bus company and no one really helped, specially the bus company, then took the matter to the police, and the police did a great job, got the boy and his father and made an oath or restrain order to stop them from contacting us or DS, once the school week started the school did suspend the boy from the bus facility and forbidden from using the facility as long as he in this school. I tried to get in touch with the parents of that boy, but couldn't get help from the bus company or the school, so I had no choice but going to the police. as a parent once you know your child is being harassed or abused you must do something, if you stood by watching and not doing anything, makes you accessory in what is going on. Aroha, as other posters said, sit down with the mother, tell her everything you know, seen or heard, in the same time do not allow any contact from this girl to your girl, if there is nothing happened to solve this girl problem, you may like to give info about what is going on with this girl to her school, sometimes you have to defend the ones who can not defend themselves - the girl - or you can contact the social affairs mesentery itself here - if you are in UAE - I know this will take you a while, but sometimes you can not just stay on the sideline watching a crime happening, or you can not bare seeing your own image in the mirror, this would be something I would do myself.

I may be the one who will give the advice that no one will recommend...but it goes this way: Aroha, you need to get your little girl away from this girl, children will always explore, but what you described is way far from exploring, this is a fruit of an experience: either it was happened in front of that girl OR she watched it in a p0Rn video....in many cases I won't let my child be around this girl after the first time. Moving forward: the girl in question need help - away from your DD - her mum and dad need to know about this, wither they liked it or not, they have to deal with this, as I suspect someone is grooming and preparing this girl to later on take a part in what she acted with the dolls... your DD need to know about this dolls acts as it is not true, dolls do not do this, and people in real life do not do this- not the exact way - but this info is way above her age, and I believe you need to get help from the paediatric you deal with.....you just can't brush off this under the carpet and tink every thing will turn up ok. Good luck you will need that.

Hello ladies, thank you in advance to anybody who can answer my question! Our maid's employment visa is expiring in a week. We don't want to renew her contract and we told her 45 days ago. She hasn't found another job yet whereas I have FINALLY found somebody, but the new one's available only in 20 days. Now, my question is: are we entitled to keep our old maid another 10 days after her visa's expiry? Can she still work for us? Is that legal? I know there's a 30 days grace period before the renewal, however, as we are not renewing but only either transferring her visa to a new employer or canceling it and sending her back to the Philippines, I don't know what's legal and what's not. But I know you girls out there know and explain these kind of information better and faster than the immigration employees! TIA did you check with DNRD? pop in - not the calls they are hopeless - get the info you need and the name of the person who told you this info. on another important note: you are responsible on her actions, if she overstayed and did not get the new work visa, you will be liable for paying her fines, if the new employer wishes to take her, then he/she must be the one who will accept paying this fines. if the new employer pulled out, be aware that the maid may do illegal work to earn money/ do a runner / or simply turn to you to pay her her salary.... you need to involve immigration in that as soon as you can, do not be alone in this situation. We all know you pay a fixed instalment for your internet usage, unless you exceeded your limit for the month, an oh yeah, maids won't care about it.

I did read this in the morning and could think about how this little girl - she is 3 years old now - will live and face the world in Egypt? The father is doing this only for the reason he is out of money, so he is doing this just to get money or force his wife to adopt his child. the wife does work in a hospital, which means that she - at least - have the knowledge of how to deliver the baby, and in the first place she knows how to inject the - ahem - into the maid to in-pregnant her. Something happened and the plan didn't work out, so the wife just decided she wants out, and pulled up from the adoption agreement, the father knows well and is a willing partner in the surrogacy thing, it took 4 samples to have the successful pregnancy of the maid. The wife tried to get a relative from her side to be a surrogate mum - which indicates the wife can not have children have her genes- but that road had been closed, so she decided to hire the maid and make her her surrogate mum, I believe she tried to get her into NZ but there were no visa could be issued to the maid on that bases, as she - the wife - have to take time off work and stay with the maid in NZ to make sure the maid will leave after the birth of the baby, so she decided to do the whole thing here....then things got complicated - issuing the visa for a pregnant maid to give birth in NZ - which NZ prohibit by the way any woman not NZ nations to go to NZ to give birth - so the visa application been rejected, then somehow she helped the maid to give birth here in UAE, pay the maid 15 K and send her home to Philippines, and waving the maid rights of her baby, then getting her husband into the trouble that her have a baby holds his DNA, but there is no mum for that baby, that's why he had to go to courts to claim the baby otherwise that baby will be gone into the orphanage. Something happened in the middle of all of that and the marriage had fall apart, and the wife do not want to have any business with the whole situation - which she was the engineer of that situation - and leaving the father with (unwanted child from unwanted woman ). This child is now living in Egypt with a foster family, this family will not treat her well, they will always call her the maid's doughtier- if they are really related to the father- or they will call her a b@stard - as she did not been a fruit of a marriage - so the only victim is this poor girl, her mother sold her for AED 15 k, a father do not care about her, all what he want is money or give her to his wife, and a selfish woman who wanted to be a mother despite God himself knew she can not be a mother for a cat!

Our rights as cyclists far outweighed the car drivers and even pedestrians. :-) Is that the way it should be ? I do not think so, definitely not in a spread out, hot city like Dubai. Cyclists should have lanes on some inner roads, but not on the major roads and pedestrians should have more rights than cyclists. [b'>Nothing more annoying than cyclists hurtling down a sidewalk ringing their bells at any pedestrian who does not move out of their way[/b'>. And why they do this? because they have no lanes for them to use.

What about creating a cycle lane for those who use the bicycles? This is a very important thing, better than building more malls that last time seen the sun when they built the roof. There are already cycle tracks here and a huge one was recently completed around Al Quadra by the Ranches... http://www.dubairoadsters.com/events_safeplacetoride.html You are talking about who cycle as a sport, I am talking about who use the bicycle as a transport, you can not ignore the fact the anyone cycling from work to home or vice versa is going to be hit some day due the lack of lanes for them.... I didn't think cycles were allowed on roads with a speed limit higher than 60 sorry, I misunderstood you - I thought you meant places where people can cycle for leisure, not necessarily sport !! Errrr? I believe there is a rule for cyclers - not for sports only - have to were high visibility vests and crash helmets.... everyday Dubai Dry Docks workers/ technicians do go to work using bicycles.....I believe they are humans and do have the right to be able to use the roads like car drivers and motorcycles. they have chosen bicycles as a cheap way for their daily commute, I am one of people have a bicycle and wish to be able to drive it on the roads not for leisure or sports for going everywhere as I used to do in other countries, and it's not think that cyclers are safe, specially with drivers do not respect them, if there is a restriction for certain jobs not to be able obtaining driving licenses, and salaries can not support buying a car, buying a bicycle is the best choice they have, so yes they do need cycle lanes in the streets.

The OP is asking over here to have a cross check with any poster able to provide info if she is right about her fears or it's not founded, as a parent of children who had gone throw this I can say this school is not doing their job: education. Sorry Goro but I totally disagree. Education is about so much more than just learning to read and write. The importance of learning through play in children the age of the OPs can't be stressed enough. Daza you are right about the playing and communicating with other children, its a life style comes with the education, however if the school become a place for children to play only, then this is a very expensive play ground for the children. my children had been educated throw what seems a game for them, then slowly reducing the playing and have more constructive learning time, this how the create the separation for the children and give the idea of there is a time to play and there is a time to learn, but spending the whole day scrabbling and playing.....I can do this at home, and the school is preparing the children to understand that life start with limiting the total freedom of eating sleeping and playing whenever they want - a sad truth but the children they do not know about it - and doing this in a fun and calm manner. the child learn how wait for his/her turn in playing, learn sharing, learn about the cooperation with their peers, plus the education system founded on, learning reading, writing, maths and science, this is education.

Same problem at the Safa Park junction. I never get a clear run at it these days and am starting to take circuitous routes to avoid it. I actually got stopped by policeman going from Safa Junction to SZR this am so that people at the open u turn could go. I was late - i am usually at work by this time and couldn't believe the difference in traffic. The police is there only for Al Ittihade private school horrendous traffic jam the parents/ maids/ drivers create every day morning and after noon.
