Have you tried Dubai autism center or Al Noor Training school? I am sure the one of the above 2 centers will accommodate your children. It is not easy to keep them occupied all the time at home.

What type of therapy are you looking for? Is he going special need school? Normally special need schools provide the therapy along with their studies.

are you looking for a woman's suit or men's suit? G2000 have VERY reasonably priced ones and they are pretty much on sale all the time... alternatively the Pierre Cardin stores are also always on sale and if you're an average size it's quite easy to nab something there... for rentals - have a look at this option ... men's suits can be hired from Murad Boutique Men’s Wear which is upstairs in the Al Ghazal Shopping Mall Thank you. I will look into these shops. I want for my son who is 17 years old.

Ethiopia won't allow their women to work as maids anywhere anymore. It's not just the UAE. I have not heard anything about Eritrean maids. The African CVs I saw recently were of women from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria. I have an Ethiopian maid and we would have wished to hire another one but it is not allowed, unfortunately. We hired a Sri Lankan instead but it would have been easier to have two of the same nationality. Ethiopians don't need visas to go to Sudan or Kenya so if you know of someone in Ethiopia who wants to come here, they might be able to leave from either of those countries... AnonDubai, Can you give me the name of the agency from where you got your Srilankan maid? I don't know the name yet because I did not go to the agency myself. I will let you know once the maid arrives... Thank you.

Hi Amanda, My son attends Oasis School and he is a special need child. I'm not happy overall about this school and especially not happy wih their teaching staff. I wouldn't recommend you keep your son in this school. He will have better chances in other schools. About your daughter, if she has mild ADHD, I suggest you keep her in other main stream school which provides assistance to special need students. This is my opinion. HTH

In the last 6 months or so the 2 young boys next door have knocked on my door looking for our internet password. The first time one came in with his iPad at the ready and just asked me to type in my password. I said no and he said it was for his mother to do work. Again a few days ago the other son came in and asked for the password again. Again I said no and used the same excuse that his mother want it. Is this a Dubai thing that it acceptable for everyone to share there passwords. I just can't believe the cheek as they have caused us nothing but trouble since we moved in. What do you mean is this a Dubai thing? What you think nowhere else in the world this could happen? It’s not a big deal, don’t make it one. Two kids trying to probably circumnavigate their mum by using their initiative asking the neighbour! Why not ask the mum nicely about it rather than falling into the is this a Dubai thing trap. If the kids are a problem then go talk to the parents about it. Well said.

Amazing singarosa! Well done you for taking control of the things you weren't happy about. It can't have been easy, but you did it. How very admirable. To answer your question about your so called 'friend', I personally would call her on it (based on the fact the information you have been given is reliable). I would have to get a response from her, otherwise it be like letting her get away with it. I would just want to hear what she had to say, because you gave her some personal experiences and tips and advice, all of which were given when you were having a hard time - and it takes time to respond to someone and give all that information. She owes you an explanation (I think), hence would message her and ask her why has she been gossiping about you? Regardless of her explanation, most definitely stop with the advice now and drop contact, but for you and for closure on the situation, still ask what on earth was she playing at. HTH :) Good advice.

Hi I saw your recommendation for a carenter in another thread. Can you please tell me what was the cost of the interior door and was it solid wood? I am looking for doors for my villa aswell. TIA Well what I had made was not just the door and frame as there was no door there before, so he had to build up a wider space with new wall and plaster too, I do not know the breakdown on the door alone but the whole job with building in a new wall surround and door was 3.5k. hth Thanks again. I'll call him for the quote. Have a nice evening. Your'e welcome and I forgot to mention, yes it was a very good solid wood door. Thank you.

Ideally he should see a pediatric optometrist or ophthalmologist. If it is as you described, he may be having some binocular function issue making it difficult for both of his eyes to focus on a single target simultaneously as it can be quite effort consuming. I would suggest keeping a diary of how often you see this happening (or based on his reports), ie AM or PM, weekdays vs weekends, school days vs holidays and the symptoms he may experience ie headaches, tiredness, sleepiness etc. This will also help in the diagnosis and prognosis process. I believe there are consultant pediatric ophthalmologists at City Hospital and Moorfields in DHCC. Good luck. Thanks SGR.

There are many special needs schools in Dubai, Al Noor Training Center, Rashid Peadiatric Therapy Center, Dubai center for special needs, Oasis school and Autistic center. These are the few came in my mind. If your little one can study then K12 is a good option, but if he doesn't have any school trasnfer certificate, then he must start from grade 1. HTH

Ladies please, imagine how the OP must feel if this scenario is true or even partially true . No one knows how they will react unless in that position theirselves. Surely better by far, to keep one's doubts to themselves. If it is true then OP is bound to be very distressed and not entirely rational. Imagine how she will feel reading some of the posts. Where is the "like" button? OP must be in shock now and may be what she is posting not making sense to many of us, but that does not mean it didn't happen. If you have nothing nice to say, better say nothing at all. My sympathise to the OP.

thank you all. is there anyway I can get the school to take disciplinary action against her? I don't want to change my child's school as they are quite happy but I want her out. I would do the same as she has done to you, go to her in a quiet and calm way, show her all the messages, give her the option to resign otherwise you will inform the school of her actions, if you inform the school please be prepared for this to go legal, they may wish to inform the police of the "affair" this could result in all of you loosing your livelyhood here. I sure as **** would not let her get away with it ! I'm very sorry to hear this. I agree with Birchy and stay strong.

If this happened to me i would do this: Oh btw hon, guess what! Today while picking up DD, I was talking to one of the moms. Apparently a sick married prick tried to pick up mrs. Xyz. She's contacted the authorities and reported it. They're investigating it now. Poor girl I mean what kind of prick would do this? They're just waiting for him to show up at the nursery again! Trust me, if his intentions were not so innocent, he'll &$@@ his pants. He will not show face miles away from the nursery and he will think twice before pursuing anything else in the future! Just my 2 cent! I like this plan. :)

Hi Ladies. Recently been diagnosed intolerant to cows (and sheeps) milk but loving camel's milk as an alternative.... Problem is eating and, more importantly, drinking - coffees - out! Can you good peeps post where you know does camels milk coffee/ yogurts/ smoothies/ etc etc, please? Tried the web, but no go, and a search here didn't turn up much (except some good insights into intolerance tests;-) Many thanks... I can't help you with cafes selling camel milk products but you can buy camel milk from any supermarket. I buy camel milk quiet often from Union Coop, Mizhar. edited by halfmoon on 06/11/2013
