I take my dog to Pet Connection. It is convenient for me as it is near Mall of Emirates. So far no complaints and they r doing a good job...:)

Hi Ladies, I know this is a maid question but I tried on the maids forum and didn't get any reply... my husband is about to set up his own company and we would like to keep our maid (that has been sponsored while my husband was an employee). my question is : how can you sponsor a maid if you are not an employee as you need to provide a salary certificate and a certain level of salary ? any experience ? thanks ! Hi, if you like to keep the maid in your husband sponorship, then no need to do anything, as she is already in your husband visa, she can continue with that. when the renewal comes, you can submit the trade licence with your husband name in it, which states he is an investor, then u can renew her visa without salary certificate.

Shanzman, I tried the visit visa, manila airport wont allow people to travel on visit visa, unless she is well educated and show them her university degree. she must prove to them, financially she is sound to travel. Anyway good luck to you.

You can contact any agent in Dubai who brings housemaids from Philippines...you can give her details to the agent here and pay their fees, which is by the way not cheap. This system is to protect the maids.It might be cheaper if the maid contacts some agent in philipines and you can pay the cost later here in dubai.

It is not easy to bring maid from Philippines.. You can give money to agent here and they will arrange to bring her here. If you send employment visa direct to her, manila airport officials wont allow her to fly.

I have been through all the threads I can find on Pet Groomers in Dubai but can not find the info I am looking for so am hoping someone can help. We have an American Cocker Spaniel and as we both work during the week would ideally like to take her to be groomed on a Friday. Does anyone know of any good groomers that are open on Fridays? TIA If you need another place which opens in Friday is Pet Connection in Barsha... there is a lovely philipino lady is doing the grooming.....she handles with real love and care....their number is Tel: 04-4475307 Hope this helps...

Curious to see if any one of you have since registered at this school? We'll be moving to Dubai shortly and this is one of the schools we've applied to for my DD who is 4 and will be entering KG2. They have asked to set up an assessment, now just waiting to find the exact day we'll be there and I can secure a day for this. I didn't register in this school but if your DD is 4 then she will be going to KG1 in American Academy for Girls.

Some of you may know that I lost a child in Jan and things seems to be falling back in to place....slowly! Last year I was offer a job @ Welcare hospital but declined due to the pregnancy. I have been offered the job again but in the NICU department...where my little angel took her last breath I've always had the desire to go back to work and DH always supported that decision plus after the loss of my child-I really longed for something to keep me busy but is this too much too soon? First of all cyber hugs to you. For your question, you can only answer. Are you ready to see other babies?, what is your feeling when you see other babies? If you are comfortable, then you accept the job and keep yourself busy. your mother is right in a way, you cannot live your whole life thinking about what you lost. Think positive about you and your family.. I know easy said that done. But try and rest leave it to God, (I do not know if you believe in one) if not, believe some power is there over there watching us. God bless you.

Is giving an extra month salary for the holidays common? As I understand it that is a bonus on top of the normal salary? We have paid only the normal salary as usual, sometimes giving an advance of half or more of next month´s salary to get some extra cash for the holidays. Eg if maid travels end of March I'd pay the March salary and advance some of the salary due at the end of April (the rest upon her return so she has some cash left to last her until end of May). Have never myself received double salary when going on holiday. It is common here and elsewhere (Far East and Africa for example). I think there are many new expats here so perhaps it's a more old school way of doing things. I've re -read the OP post and think that the maid might not be entirely wrong? Of course it's up to the discretion of the OP whether a) she pays a so far unagreed (it woud seem) holiday pay and whether March and Nov holidays in the same year for a month at a time are convenient. But the maid is entitled to a month and the airfares per year. Contract Nov 10 - Nov 11 - Taking flights and holiday pay March 12 Contract Nov 11 - Nov 12 - Taking flights and holiday pay Nov 12 What I understood is that, the maid wants to take bonus and ticket money on on end of Nov 11 plus she wants ticket and bonus on march, 12, so when her contract finishes on Nov 12 and she doesn't want to renew the contract, the sponsor should buy another ticket for her with one month salary...so she will be getting 3 ticket money and 3 extra month salary or working 2 years... If this is the case, i do not think OP should buy her ticket on March, 12.

I wouldn't-would give it all to my very best friend who has a severlely disabled daughter who is nearly 40 now-she is absolutely obsessed with Disneyland so I would hire a private jet from Australia-(she needs that as she needs help with toiletting)-enough to pay for her daughter, herself and another carer so mum could enjoy the holiday too-oh =if only I were rich enough to do it-dream on............ That is really sweet of you. I hope and pray your friend's daughter's wish will get fulfilled very soon.
