When the Christmas trees come in at Satwa, beside the Iranian hospital, you may find that they trim some of the trees and have spare branches you could buy. You might also find in Al Aweer where many of the flower shops are situated. Plants are much cheaper out there. Way to get there follow the Hatta signs, go past Dragon mart, at the end of the road at the round about turn right, drive down to the next roundabout and turn left. All the plant shops are there.

Hi Amelia, Welcome to Dubai! You might think about doing art classes at one of the centres offering classes. You will do something creative and you don't have to be an artist. There are lots of women that you may make friends with and have the opportunity to chat. Dubai International Art Centre has been running in Jumeirah since 1976 their number is 04 3444398, there is also an art centre in Mall of the Emirates but I don't know their number and I have heard of a new place called Soul in downtown which just opened this week. You could google any of them to get more information. I am working so not much spare time. Best wishes

is this a med u take to prevent hairloss? i also got bad hairloss even a receding hairline :-((( i always thought that happens only to men.... Happens a lot after childbirth, can also be due to thyroid problems or stress. Homeopathy can help to get you back on track and ultimately improve hair growth. Important to check your iron/ferritin levels as low levels can also be a cause of hair loss. Vitamin D3 levels should be optimum as well as Omega 3. I had a lot of problems with my hair but noticed it improved a lot with 3 things but don't know which had the positive effect. I started homeopathic treatment, ate more salmon and met a great friend who made me laugh a lot..... hair became the thickest it had been in a long time.

As far as I know there is no fluoride in the municipal water. I use a Big Berkey water filter as I'm concerned about storage of water in plastic bottles that may be stored in the heat.

There is an Emirates trading branch in Dubai International Arts centre just off Jumeirah Beach road. There is an arts and craft shop in Jumeirah Plaza, also a bigger arts supplies shop in Festival City centre on the second floor, sorry I don't know the name maybe Festival Centre enquiries might have the number. There is also a pretty good supplier of craft things in the Beach Centre, they also sell fancy dress costumes which you will see in the window, it is next to the smaller Automatic restaurant on the ground floor, they have a lot of things like balsa wood and I think I have seen the popsicle sticks there. Good luck!!

I have lived in Dubai for 35 yrs, the only time we felt unsafe was during the war between Iraq and Kuwait. At that time it wasn't know if Scud missiles could reach Dubai and of course there was a lot of rumour mongering going on. People were trying to figure out how to make gas masks in case one of the missiles hit here with some type of poisonous gas. I agree with the previous writer there are a lot of things that they do here to get information about what is going on or could be potentially going on. They are very aware and concerned about security and do everything to ensure the safety of the country, except of course from crazy drivers! But I do know from internal security that they coordinate a lot with various intelligence agencies around the world. Another factor, it is an Islamic country and the 'benefit' of any terrorist activity would be very low.

I have stainless steel cooking pots that I have used for the past 30 yrs, I find that when browning meat you can't have the temperature too high to begin with because the raw meat sticks, but if the temperature is lower then brought up when its browned a bit it works. I find even if I have burnt food in them - as I did when I was younger, leaving them to soak with washing powder removes things like burnt food and they come back like new.

Depends where you are. There are loads of pickup trucks parked next to the small Al Wasl Park off Al Wasl road in Jumeirah 1 area. I think they charge about 150 or 200 depending where you are coming and going from.

http://gulfnews.com/news/uae/environment/15-new-recycling-stations-set-for-dubai-1.1585059 I think that the municipality realises that as the population grows, areas areas that they thought were well out of the way like next to Al Warqa, where they want to put the new Safari park, are actually a health hazard creating a lot of methane gas. They seriously want to do something about it.

Dr Javed at Dubai Homeopathy Health Centre studied in India where they get a lot of experience because the number of people who use homeopathy as opposed to Europe where they see less patients and I find their prescribing not proactive enough. In acute cases like injuries they will prescribe one dose of arnica in a low potency but I have found repeated dosing for injuries like bruises and sprains can be resolved within a very short time with higher potencies repeating every 15 mins. Dr Javed has also studied with George Vithoulkas in Greece and attends the summer courses for difficult cases almost every year. When he graduated he was one of his top students. Hi Yes I do, I've had quite a lot of experience with treatment from him. My son had vitiligo after a shock, I had hypothyroidism 20 yrs ago, we've all been treated by him. I know a lot of people who have been to him for treatment of various conditions, polycystic ovaries, children's illnesses, heart problems.... one 80 yr old who could stop taking her meds. Another colleague who had mitral valve regurgitation and could hardly exercise who now goes skiing for hours. Many children who have developmental/behavioural issues and they have had very good results. If the experience is so good for people and you feel others can benefit, one can't help but tell others. As far as the poster saying they print out their own certificate at home, the Department of health in Dubai has very strict procedures for people wanting to pass their homeopathy exams and they have to be able to answer a lot of medical questions as well.

Btw I just got the wall dry then, I turned on he AC while I left my balcony door open. I was trying to create some air circulation. Then the whole wall started to cry down with lots if water again.. Might sound stupid but I think I'm doing smtg wrong in here.. Will def. look for a dehmidifier but I was thinking that AC itself was drying the air in the apt? Split units have a de-humidify setting on them but if you open the door you will overwhelm the system and it will produce more moisture. I live in a villa with split units if I leave the kitchen door open I noticed that the pipe which drains away the condensed water from the cooling fins, pours water. I collect the water from the a\c units to water the plants so it is clear what is going on. When you live in an apartment you don't see so much the effects of humid air on your air conditioners. If it is a central a/c I don't think it is as efficient in reducing humidity, but leaving the balcony door open is a definite mistake, because now that a/c has to dehumidify the humid air from outside, which will condense around the a/c outlet. Also keeping your temperature setting very low, especially in humid weather, can cause the unit to produce frost. I've lived in Dubai for 30 yrs so always tried to find a way to make them more efficient. Maintenance should sort it out for you. Best of luck!

My son had a fever of 41 for 4 days, doctor said it was viral, he slept a lot and came out fine on the other side. There are some children who are likely to have febrile convulsions if their temperature goes above 40 but it is the minority. As stated by previous posters fever is there for a number of reasons, to weaken viruses and bacteria so the body can deal with it, and also to move the blood around the body faster. There are homeopathic remedies you can use for fever but would need to be prescribed by homeopath as they are prescribed on collections of symptoms not just fever, e.g. fever where baby wants to be carried all the time, weeps piteously - pulsatilla. Fever with delirium, eyes red and glistening with skin hot and burning, fever worse at night and no thirst - belladonna. If you need a homeopath Dr Javed at Dubai Homeopathy Health Centre has a lot of experience with babies and children. The clinic number is 043953333 Often babies and children have middle ear infections that cause fever, it is a well known fact that antibiotics have hardly any effect on middle ear infections but they still get prescribed a lot. Homeopathy can be very effective in that case. It is difficult when you have to travel and leave your child, hope he gets better soon.

Yes you can contest it. I have had friends in the past who contested and they didn't have to pay. I have a fine for offence committed in Ajman, I never go to Ajman and certainly not at 4.30 in the afternoon when it is really busy. I am not going to pay for something that I haven't done!!

Well I wil post here, even if I should be pounced on. My eldest son was vaccinated until the age of 7 yrs, his last shot was for TB, he went into shock and turned grey. I took him to the nurse and within a short time he was ok. One month later I noticed he had many white areas, on the face around the boney parts on the limbs. This began a long journey in trying to find a cure. Eventually we met a homeopath who treated him and he no longer has the vitiligo as it was diagnosed, caused by shock. My daughter had delays with her vaccine shots because she always had a runny nose and I understood that she should not get shots if she wasn't totally well. The reason for the constant runny nose was intolerance to milk. I swopped her with soya and cow's milk five times to make sure, every time she got the runny nose on milk. Her paediatrian never thought of possible food intolerances, just kept giving her different medicines. She also had allergy to eggs, he never asked if she was allergic to eggs although if someone is then it can be a problem with MMR vaccine. Fortunately she only had the MMR once. My youngest son has had no vaccines, he is the healtiest of the three. The only doctor he saw after the age of 1 yr was our homeopath. He had an ear infection once - got pulsatilla- homeopathic remedy, never had ear infection again. The only time he had any allopathic meds was when he had an open fracture of the finger and the hospital put him on 1 gm of antibiotics 3 times a day for 3 days. He was sick on and off for the next six months at university but after that has had no problems. Choosing whether to vaccinate your child or not is a difficult decision unless you prefer someone else to tell you what to do. I grew up when it was normal for children to get the child hood diseases so had Measles, Mumps, Chicken pox and Rubella, my sister had whooping cough at the age of 6 months. The problem today is parents are not comfortable with discomfort and they are fearful of bacteria and viruses. Governments also have an obligation to their populations to contain epidemics because many parents both work and illness disrupts the whole flow of things. Before vaccines were introduced many of the childhood illnesses had already declined heavily with improved hygiene and nutrition. Vaccinations could not take the credit for that, though they do. BUT either way you cannot just not vaccinate without the back up of what to do if your child does get something. I spent a lot of time investigating and asking what could be done if any of my children should get any of these illnesses. That is where I discovered homeopathy. There are many remedies that can be used as a prophylactic in the case of an epidemic and there are many that can be used should the child catch something. When there is an epidemic usually only one or two remedies are indicated. The important thing is that we should not damage our children's immunity with bad eating habits. It was noticed in the US years ago that polio usually increased in the summer months when children would be consuming a lot of sugar through ice cream and soda pops, these things deplete calcium an essential mineral in the process of nerve signalling, the area where polio affects the most, causing paralysis. I know personally two homeopaths who have treated children who acquired polio and tuberculosis through the vaccine and treated them successfully. One of those homeopaths has treated adults with tuberculosis who were not responding to allopathic medication. You have a difficult decision and no-one can tell you what to do, after all should your child get sick after being vaccinated you will be the one to care for them in the long term, likewise should your child get sick because you didn't vaccinate and didn't have an alternative treatment, you will also be the one to care for them. Very best wishes, make decisions out of knowledge not fear.

Some people do think that it is not possible for homeopathy to work but usually they are just following the oft repeated words from people who have never tried or experienced it. I have used homeopathy my whole life for some serious illnesses as well as accidents. The accidents because they were acute were cured in a very short time. With Chronic things they took longer because you are getting to the root of the problem not just suppressing symptoms which is what happens with allopathic medicine. Best wishes.

Just reading the posts around your condition. Creams don't cure conditions on the skin just suppress them so that they go inside the body and cause more problems. When you want to make an assessment as to whether any treatment is helping and going in the direction of cure, look at your energy levels, if they improve and no other symptoms come up, then it is more likely that it is a healthy result, but if for example you notice lowered energy and other conditions coming up then that is not a good result. With regard to an article written in the daily mail to say that homeopathy doesnt work, it is the experience of many people, children and animals that homeopathy does work and in fact there is a comparison between the success rate of homeopathy and normal medicine in the British Medical Journal and there was no difference in the perceived effects - good, bad and no known effect. The Daily Mail is a sensationalist newspaper and prints that type of article. I hope you have found good results with your treatments
