Blessed you and all the givers :) Almost all of my baby stuff's / nursery are pre loved given by ladies here in the forum and ladies who reply on my dubizzle add.. I am so grateful that there are individuals who tried to make a difference.. And I am one o the receiver.. We plan to do the same to give away all what I received or bought to those who are in need too once my baby outgrow them. It really helps us to stretch our budget and extremely thankful.. Hope your bad experience About those who asked will not change your intention as you are doing one of the nicest thing to do.. Sharing :)

Thanks... I chose city hospital as this is nearer to my place. Had a great experience with them :)though room is smaller than IMH and no separate room for visitor but I still find it nice and cosy :) edited by Hassli on 08/11/2012

Hi ladies :) Yes, we are getting nearer :) I have weird discharge with spots of blood this week and it become a bit more since yesterday lunch and went to my new doctor around 5 for vaginal examination. She said, that the I have a small opening in my cervix that's why I am leaking some water from the amniotic fluid.. So she recommend that I need to be admitted to city hospital with the possibility for emergency CS if the leak didn't stop. I was put for bed rest, had 2 steroids shot, 3 antibiotic to prevent the strep b entering the baby all for precaution.. Good thing this morning my leak stops and no traces of new leaks / blood.. I was Discharge this afternoon and put to bed rest. Hospital experience is so nice.. First we went to the adminssion office ground floor, the doctor already bring the insurance request for approval so less waiting time in the admission office. They put me on the labour room and check baby's heartbeat and any signs of contractions. No contractions and baby heartbeat are all fine.. Long interview about history (medical) and the midwife Sarah is so helpful and so friendly. Then after an hour to two, they transfer us to the recovery for observation and further monitoring. Food are nice, consumables are free and part of the room rate I guess.. Didn't pay anything when we are discharge.. Maternity dress is available.. Husband sleep in the sofa / bed.. Hope to deliver my baby atleast after the 37weeks, I am 35 weeks and 1 day, 2 more weeks for me so they will consider tha baby as full term. I might not reach December but who knows when my baby boy would like to come out :) good thing I have only I More week then I will be off :) Take care :) edited by Hassli on 08/11/2012 edited by Hassli on 08/11/2012

Hi Tinky, I am aware of the blacklisted cargo company's. Did your maid had a problem with makati express? I just send two boxes two weeks back as my friend recommends the makati express over another cargo company that i usually choose. Thanks

Hi there, I just used makati express two weeks back to send some stuff to Phil's as my friend recommends it. It is for sea cargo which is lot cheaper than Airfreight. Approximately 1 1/2 month before it reaches my province so it depends on the receiver place. You can ask them directly about the tentative date of arrival of those goods Regards

Hello ladies I changed my doctor and I can delivery either city hospital or intenational Modern hospital. My previous dr. Purnima is nice, but I find dr. Nirmala nicer :) so, will stick with her till delivery :) With regards to mternity ward/services? Which is better? City or IMH? Do they all private rooms? Or depends on the room availability? I heard that IMH have two rooms each (one for the mother and one for the guess) not sure though if this is across all maternity ward. We will have a tour next Saturday but would appreciate if you can share your experiences Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a particular reason to change and because this is my first time, I don't have a sort of benchmark to compare to. All my follow up are straightforward, max. 15 minutes as that's the city hospital sort of rule for all there follow ups. Blood pressure and height will be taken by the nurse. Then I will be asked to submit a urine sample. (They never come back to me with the result of any of my urine as all are within normal) Then they will ask us to wait for a while then we will be greet by the doctor as soon as we entered the room. My doctor will asked me if everything is ok with me and I will say yes.. Or I will tell her some of my issues like dizziness etc etc. my Oby will always says those are normal and part of pregnancy. She never tell me what to expect for the coming weeks. Then after a small chat, she will ask me to lie down and check the heartbeat, the fundal height and she will always tells me all are normal. She never see what's inside after my anomaly scan as she said that there is no need for that anyhow I will have my final scan (growth scan) which will give her all the measurement required for her to assess if I will be a normal deliver or c-section. Then she will update the system and that's it's.. Bye bye time. That's pretty much what happen with my check up and the nurse told me that this is the standard ways. So, I really don't have any particular reason to change.. It's just a feeling of confusion. If we are really receiving the proper ante natal care...but maybe this is rally what ante natal in uae. Still can't decide. Wanted to shift to other doctors recommended by the other ladies but its too late, they are already book till next month too. I will just pray all will be fine and my baby boy will be in good health and my delivery is not traumatic :) Thanks ladies

Gently bump... I'm confused. I don't have problem with dr. Purnima but suddenly I can't make up my mind if I wanted her to deliver my baby. Maybe I am just scared as I'm a first time mom. If anyone has experience with dr. Purnima, I would love to hear it. Thanks a lot, Hassli

Thanks kiwispiers, They just told me that the scan is a routine procedure in city hospital. My last anomaly scan is as within range and all normal. Since then, she didn't check what's inside as she is relying on the result of the growth scan to tell her the numbers. But, I'm thinking maybe it can be done by a normal ultrasound and no need for a special scan. I already told them that my insurance will not cover it and hence will not do the same. What I will did, is to go a smaller clinic and will have another check from another Oby Gyne to check me and get the numbers my doctor is needed. TIA edited by Hassli on 19/10/2012

Hello ladies :) Hope you already complete your nursery stuff. I have a question regarding first aid items. I am a first time mom and still clueless with the medical related items I need to have inside the house. Can someone enumerate the first aid items or medical items we should have incase of some minor accidents or sickness. 1. Thermometer (what kind of thermometer I need to buy?) 2. Creams (what kind of creams I need to stuck Up) And so on. Also, have you already selected your pedia for the baby? Shall we do it before delivery or after delivery? Thanks a lot, Hassli

Hi Toodles, i have been diagnose with GD around 24weeks and gaining 3kilos in a month. (My glocuse result is almost 12 vs 8 which is the maximum) The doctor gave me a diet plan with is so basic aswell but didn't really follow what was written there. I continue my usual meal but in lesser quantity (and i cut all sweet/ sugary foods that i love such as ice cream, cakes, chocolates etc) and do a lot of walking everyday (min. Of 10 minutes everymeal and extra 30minutes a night) in preparation for the 4x glocuse test. (I still continue this exercise after I passed) I passed the 4x glocuse test and lost 3kg in a month. The doctor is so happy and told me to continue the diet so I am continuing my usual meal (nothing special.. I still have my usual rice, from time to time If I crave for sweets, I indulged with watermelon, try to eat in every two-three hours). Tried aswell to go online for diet menus but find it difficult aswell to follow. Below are the website I visited for GD http://pregnancy.emedtv.com/m/gestational-diabetes/gestational-diabetes-sample-menu.html http://intermountainhealthcare.org/ext/Dcmnt?ncid=520921801 http://www.babycenter.com/404_what-type-of-pregnancy-diet-should-i-follow-if-i-have-gestat_3128.bc Please visit my Post re GD as other moms have a better advice there :) Goodluck

Thanks Bexter :) good to know that there is this pet net thing. Is that available in babyshop (maybe I can get one on sale). Is that net something strong enough to prevent the cat to land on top of the baby if they accidentally jump inside the crib? Is that available here in UAE? Trying to search for the same but didn't find any.. I find one article about retractable screen door but not sure if I find it here and if the same is safe.. Need to do lots of browsing for this.. I will go with your advice, I will wait for my water to broke out naturally rather than deliver the baby earlier and thru induce procedure. Thanks Bexter :) edited by Hassli on 21/09/2012

That's so nice.. Wish to come too as well but I can't.. Wish you all have a great time..:) By the way, I'm now 28 weeks and 1 day... 11 weeks and 6 days to go to reach the 40th week.. And my doctor's nurse told me that there are cases that as early as 37weeks, we can expect the baby. (that means 9 weeks from now) we are getting closer and I'm bit scared... Can we really expect to deliver ad early as 37 weeks? Will you wait for your water to broke naturally? Or you will opt for induce procedure (if given a chance)... Im afraid that if they will induce me, I will ended up ceasarian rather than normal delivery... (the nurse told me that by practice, my doctor really opt for early delivery for most of her patients and she will just need to turn something inside to help my body produce the hormone which triggers the labor - I'm confused if I will agree with her or wait for my water to broke out naturally). What are your thoughts about this? I will be start my off from Dec 1... I feel more tired as my tummy is already as big as the Basketball :) but still manageable :) I also have another question,to cat owners.. How will you manage having baby and taking care of the cat at the same time.. Also, is there anything I can put on top of a wooden cot (which is safe) and will protect the baby from my 3 cats? I am clueless if there is any, (my husband is bit worried that the cats will jump and try to sleep with the baby and we have a small flat... all i can think of is to close the bedroom door at all times and slowly introduce my cats to my son).. Regards to all mommies :) edited by Hassli on 20/09/2012 edited by Hassli on 20/09/2012

Hassli that's great news :) Before GTT usually you are asked to fast for a couple of hours, so if you ate lots of sweets that probably did not help hehe. It's good that your diet is not strict, just have everything in moderation. Re blurred vision & dizziness, I never experienced that, best thing is to speak to your doctor. I guess. edited by Nyle on 03/09/2012 I did fast for 10hours i think.. But before that, a week of sweets for me.. :) I will check with the doctor and will eat in moderation :) Thanks Nyle :) edited by Hassli on 03/09/2012

Hello :) I just received the result of my lab test last Friday (Glocuse series 4x (fasting, breakfast, lunch and dinner) and the result are within range. Does it means that I really don't have gestational diabetes? Before the GTT test, I eat a lot of sweets and maybe it does affect the result somehow. I still need to continue to go on diet but not so strict.. I miss rice and sweets, wish to have them one in a while but not sure if I can have. And, is having blurred vision and frequent dizziness is normal during 26weeks onwards. Will ask the doctor but I also like to hear your experience with GD. Thanks, Hassli

That would be so great Redrec Tangle :) I already received a cot, stroller, high chair, walker, b-pump, few blankets and few clothes till 3-6 months old... If you have spare car seat, sterilizer, bouncy chair, cot beddings, changing table to put on top of the cot and few clothes 6m+ and fews toys / nursery decor that would be helpful... Or anything that you can give will definitely help us... My email ad is hassli1980 at Gmail.com Thanks a lot. I wish the best for the OP.

Congrats for having a baby girl - tablair2004 :) Dallydoo - I do feel the same thing too.. I experience that earlier around 20weeks..my doctor asked me to take calcium supplements and i feel al lot better though there are some occasions that I still feel the stiffness in my joints but manageable. Buckeye - good to know all are fine with your baby. I am also eager for the next holidays - big eid (last week of October - not sure). I am excited.. It's the start of 'BER' month.. It is special for most of Filipinos because the Christmas spirit starts as early as September in my country.. It bring double excitement as we are all due in Dec. Baby kicks a lot during the night and early morning :) Have you all manage to prepare the nursery :) I have most of the basic necessities for my baby (pre loved items but i still love them.. thanks to all givers).. Have a cot, stroller, walker, high chair and baby blankets and clothes... Few items left then we will re arrange our bedroom in end of November :) so excited... Three Months and two weeks to go.. Can't wait to hold my baby :) Happy pregnancies.. Hope everybody are doing good...

Hi Layla, Hope you manage to sort your problem soon. Same here, we too have some financial issues and I am 25weeks now. We manage to make a loan to pay for maternity insurance as we don't have a cover. Now we are focusing to pay the loan till dec/jan of next year. We are sad that we cannot allocate budget to buy basic baby's stuff.. It bothers me a lot So I posted an add hoping some kind family will be happily to give away baby items .. And God is good as I almost complete all the basic necessities of my baby just few items left. Maybe you can do the same, after delivery you need to have baby stuff too.. Or hope you have everything then. Also, is it possible that you can go to other hospital though it is far but cheaper (al zulekha-sharjah, al Baraha hospital, ect) and reimburse your expenses against the available 7500aed? I have inquire before in al Baraha.. It is 4500 free check up and most of the test...you just need a health card worth 200/300. A friend of mine delivered there and it was ok.. But if you can manage go to latifa as they have a very good reputation specially high risk pregnancies.. If no choice, have Iranian hospital. Another flat mate of mine deliver there and it was also a fine experience. If really things didn't work out for us, I have no other choice but to ask from our families. Goodluck to you.

I wish I could go to antenatal classes too but that would be impossible.. Still paying for the loan we took to pay off the maternity insurance... Would be helpful if someone can share what they learned from the antenatal classes. I am thinking to browse the YouTube for the same... If they give CDs or handouts (I really don't have idea) I would be happy to photocopy/copy the sAme for my reference. Thanks ladies :)

Hello mommies :) @ buckeye@heart- it will be a great experience to have the Morphology other than you will see your baby in 4d or 3d, It will give us a sense of assurance that everything is going well And the baby is developing normal :) @ dangerous blonde - great that your morphology scan is alright. Did your doctors told you to have GTT test already (glocuse tolerance test from 24weeks to 28weeks). I had mine and the result is Isn't good (11 out of 8 which is the normal).. I develop gestational diabetes.. My doctor is asking me to go on diet and avoid all sugary stuff and white rice too.. Will have another set of glucose test and hope after 6 days diet or else I will have insulin treatment. I wonder what to do other than to go on diet to make sure that my sugar level become normal again..
