Hi, I was reading your posting regarding the trouble you had with dewa bills in The Villa. We have been looking in the area at a B2 (and also Victory Heights). Could I be really cheeky and ask approx what we are looking at per month (dewa) In a hotel apartment at the moment so all bills included in monthly rental. Have been hearing some seriously scary figures flying around not to mention all the 'hassel' Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

My 2 1/2 month girl also had it and I tried the old wife's tale and it worked wonders! Take baby oil and rub it on her head, then take a baby comb and comb her hair. I was shocked to see how easily it came off. Do it just before you give her a bath. I applied the baby oil (gently rubbing it all over her head), left it for approx. 5 min and then started combing the hair. After her bath it was all gone. All my 5 children had it and treated them with baby oil but left it on overnight. It actually lifted the Cradle Cap and I just used by fingers to lift off then washed as normal. Worked a treat :)

Poor OP, she comes on here for advice, trying to help another human being whom she sees being treated badly and she gets jumped on. Maybe she would love to tell this woman to stuff her job on principal but not everyone has that luxury to just throw a job away, especially in the current climate, and maybe she is doing as much as she can... Good luck Helma, I hope you manage to help this lady, and if you can't, at least you tried. DITTO xx

Hi - I had same thing with one of my pregnancies - dry mouth for first few months but had horrible metal taste with it. Was told it was quite normal and that it would probably go as pregnancy went along. Can't remember exactly when it stopped but it did gradually get better. I found chewing gum helped. Used to get through packets of the stuff :) helped moisten my mouth and deal with the metal taste. Tried sucking on ice cubes for a time but went back to the gum. Give it a go - worth a try ;)

Hi again, We are in Hotel Apartment at moment (Media City) which is fabulous and looking for villa. Thought we'd found one in Victory Heights and started nego with landlord then agent came back and said he'd let it to someone else !!!!! I'm assuming this happens quite a lot over here ?? Back to looking again. Wasn't too big an issue to start with but now daughter has joined us we need proper home :( desperate to get my own furniture and belongings over now !! Love Dubai though and very happy with our decision to move here. Of course the weather has it's benefits :) How are you finding it ? have you met anyone else from Al Barari ? I had an interview with them for their Interior Design Director but alas didn't get it. Keep seeing it advertised so looks like they are still searching. Maybe if I'd been male that might had been better for me oopps did I really say that ;) It really is a lovely development though - are you happy with villa ?

Into 15th day today and not showing - have called and gone on website - put in reg number / traffic ticket number - have checked every method there is to check in cae I've been looking at wrong one and nothing is showing any fine. Have printed off each statement stating no fine to pay as proof. Am loathed to go to police station as have been told they can change their minds according to how they feel on the day !

Thanks for advice both xx No didn't take licence - just wrote details down. It's a hire care so not registered to me. Have tried the website also and put reg number in to see about fines and nothing coming up there either. I know that maybe I should be clapping my hands as everything is telling me there is nothing to pay - but going on how things work here I'm sure I'm not going to be that lucky !! Bump was just that - a bump - no damage apart from slight dent - driver in front pulled out - I looked to my left to also pull out and driver in front decided to stop for no reason !! Fairly new to Dubai so did everything I'd been told to do -called police and gave insurance name number to other driver - also gave him my number. BAD move ! Nice as pie face to face then started a barrage of texts/calls saying the insurance co wouldn't pay to cover damage to his car. He wanted money from me !! Total scammer !! Obviously didn't pay the s**t anything. From comments he had made (saying he had only just got it back from someone else doing same thing) and thinking about it now, I'm sure this is a regular pastime for him.

Bumped into back of car in front and ended up with a 'Traffic Violation' ticket from police. Had two pieces of paperwork - one pink and one white - each has different reference numbers. Mostly in Arabic so can't understand what we have to do with them ?? Have telephoned the number on back of white copy and followed instructions (which are in English this time) to see what the charge was and it says there is no ticket to pay. Have tried the car reg no and both the ticket numbers ... nothing. Yet it states on the white copy that the fine has to be paid in 15 days !! Anyone had same problem ???

Fire him. Start over. New gardener. Don't be so friendly this time. Bit drastic - sounds as if his gardening is OK as this happened few months back. Granted he's pushing it a bit with keep asking for water but does that really warrant him losing his job :(

why don't you just leave an ice box outside with a couple of small bottles in it for him. You can reuse the small bottles so not having to buy new everytime. Keeps it cold for him and he doesn't bother you. Tell him to put them back in box so you can reuse for next time. Any good ?

Don't think they charge for makeovers - I tried a different foundation shade and wasn't charged for that. Wasn't a complete make over though.

Give you bit more time to look around and not make any hasty decisions. Good luck xx

Another Bare Minerals user here! Love their foundation! Do they have a whole line of skin products? I had no idea... I just assumed they only do make up! I would love to try out their moisturiser et al... Anyone have any experiences?? Skin care range is fantastic - go on their website and you can order it direct. I had it sent to my mum in UK and she sent it on to me. Suppose that can be bit risky so if know when someone is coming over .... stock up ! The facial wash is amazing, best I have used by far and the moisturiser is just lovely. Am still on first tube of eye cream and into 6th month with it. Small facial wash will last about 2.5 month if used daily. http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.nav/params.file.UKAKTJRR,1.class.UKAKTJRR.level.3/walk.yah.UKHB-U050 Skincare range Bare Minerals

Where is there a Sephora and does anyone know the price of the Get Started Kit over here? Thanks! :) Sephora is in Emirates Mall and I think Dubai Mall. I brought my starter kit in the UK through special offer so paid less than normal price. The starter kits here are about 350 aed I think from memory but you get your brushes/concealer/ two shades of foundation and the mineral veil/ DVD and brochure. That's what I got in starter kit so am assuming all the same. I have since brought various other shades of the foundation as you can mix them. Not a makeup artist - interior designer and mum of 5 so have to look good with my work and it needs to be easy with the kids :)

oh my!!! I have to wash my face and feet before bed or I will not sleep lol. Dont you feel yucky in the morning with your makeup still on?? Not really hon - it's usually all over my hubby and the pillow by then :) edited by Hayleyjensen on 20/09/2011 I can't imagine what that's doing to your skin, having your pores clogged up all that time. I always keep a packet of cleansing make-up remover wipes in the bathroom and always remove the slap, without fail. Happy to confirm pores and skin are great and completely clog free :-) Sleeping in the 'slap' gets a BIG tick from me ;)

Hardly ever wash my make up off before bed too - mind on other things like SLEEP !!!! Covers my freckles up a treat so don't see why not on other marks etc. (They do varying mineral concealers ) I don't use the seperate mineral sunscreen as find my moisturiser and the spf 15 in the mineral foundation are enough. Usually put my moisteriser on then go make a cup of tea so it settles well before putting the foundation on. Looks great all day. Try it ;)

Can buy from Sephora and the foundation is spf 15 but they do a mineral sunscreen at 20 and 30 also. If you go into store they will do a makeover for you using the product and you can get a starter kit to kick off with. It does take a little practice to get right but you'll soon get the hang of it :)

Hi - we are having to do same at moment and I asked same ??? few days ago. Have had quotes from Nextcare / Axa Gulf / Bupa / Daman - although this is a pain to get online as have to scan residents visa/passport for all who are to be insured. Gave up on that and called them in end. So far Axa are coming out on top. Have also had look at Pulse which you get through the Dubai Chamber Commerce. Limitations with one though - worth a look anyway. Hope that helps

I agree in that I think DBS works well. May have something to do with my daughter being in the 6th form so don't actually have to park up and take her in - just a case of opening the door as we fly by and she commando rolls out !! Can honest say though that I've not had any problems with parking up on afternoon pick up. Thursday's are little more stacked up but still copeable. If you want to witness complete chaos - Wellington Int School on SZR !!!!!!!!!! Our apartment looks right down onto it and there is NO WAY I would ever want to subject myself to the delights of drop off and pick up there ;)

Hi Everyone, I am following these comments with interest and a warm heart as I too am new to Dubai and DBS and finding my feet with the 'driving' for school runs and in general also If you were not aware of the 'no left' rule then you can hardly be blamed for making a genuine mistake. I'm quessing you wouldn't intentionally put yourself in the firing line of this 'fishwife' would you ! I totally reiterate what others have said .... she probably has had a crappy morning and sadly you got the brunt of it ! either that or she's just a totally nasty bi!ch so it's no wonder her husband is scr%wing the maid :) Would love to hear from any Newbies xx
