lots of cuddles on the sofa for the both of you. If you have a sling or something, rig that up. Opinions are divided as to intervention. I'm of the minimal intervention camp so have never tried nasal aspirators, salt water flushes (wtf?!) and am not a great fan of medication (not allowed for under 2 months olds anyhow)... and my two have been just fine. Just keep a damp muslin cloth or wet-wipe handy to clean up any snot (or your shoulder will do just fine!)! They've actually both got a cold today too!

I was quite amazed at how the book differs from the film (having seen the epic film first)... but had they written the film based exactly on the book it would have beat Lord of the Rings hands down as the longest film around! The books' about 900 pages long, if I remember rightly?

I've talked about it with DD when the subject has come up. I avoid attaching conditions - like "when I'm old" because sadly, not everyone dies when they're old. I tell her that everything dies at some point, just as everything is born and try to keep everything as matter of fact as possible.... so if we're staring at an animal that's been killed on the road (for example) I won't say anything like "oh, poor little bird..." but will use it as a good lesson in road safety! "The bird is dead because it was hit by a car" She's only 3 so hasn't yet started asking what happens afterwards and hasn't yet associated all the emotional baggage (what about the bird's babies?, etc...) but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

If you're at all concerned with your milk supply being effected, don't even think about doing any kind of diet unless it's a "healthy, balanced" one (which eating Special K twice a day isn't). You should be eating no less than 1800 cals a day if you are exclusively breastfeeding. With 2 little ones, you'll be losing the excess faster than you know it without even trying. Give your body time to heal and yourself space to enjoy motherhood without worrying about your figure.

(Just out of curirosity - is there any issues with keeping him on top-ups? Or on formula top-ups as opposed to breastmilk?) Health-wise, strictly speaking no, but it's just more work for you and will affect your supply, so it'll become increasingly difficult (never impossible) to stop topping up. One way or another, you need to shock your body into producing more - if you think your LO can do it, go cold turkey on teh bottle and pop him on the boob as many times a day as he needs... your supply should adjust to suit within 48h... if not, you can try stimulating, or rather simulating his more frequent feeding by pumping... again, this should only take a few days to adjust. BUT my gut feel on this one is to really play it by ear and probably wait until he's strong enough to cope with the extra effort - it's a tall order and tbh, both he and you are doing, so, so well at the moment!

I was in bed, dreaming the first time (won't say the dream, but I woke up wondering!)... and second time, it was about 2 minutes before I saw my son... second to last push! I was paranoid about breaking in the car and would always be sitting on an incontinence pad, covered by a towel. This was especially interesting when we went to test drive a brand-new car at a garage about a week before my due date!

my DD is 10 months and i have a feeling that my milk is drying up. She is exclusively bf and does not accept formula, have tried bottles, cups everything. so hows important milk is at this stage? if she is not getting enough breastmilk then would she able to get enough nutrition from solids. her weight gain isnt good either. Please advice. How often are you feeding her now? Also, you say her weight gain isn't good - but is she following a steady upward curve (centile line) or is it just that the paediatricians have an unrealistic vision? My DD self-weaned at 11.5 months, after dropping to a single feed a day about 4 weeks prior to that. She was growing increasingly unhappy after the single feed and so it was pretty clear that she wasn't getting much milk from me at all. I moved her straight from bm to cow's milk and there was no noticeable difference. She also had a healthy and varied solid diet. My son dropped to 2 feeds in 24h from about... er... 8 months old, which worried me at the time, but he was fine with that. He continued on the 2 feeds a day until about 13 months old, at which point I wondered if he'd be fussed if we stopped, so we did and he wasn't. Again, he has a healthy, varied diet and went kind of straight on to cows milk, although he wasn't too keen to start with. Neither have ever had formula and are healthy, happy and growing like crazy things.
