No . A compound should be taking care of the maintenance . Like you said , thats one reason one rents in a compound ! Check your rental contract . It should mention that they will be covering all maintenance expenses .

Whereintheworld , Other schools charge you 500 QR that you need to pay again every single year if you want your child kept on the waiting list . This is not a guarantee that you will ever hear back from the school . You might as well have lodged complaints against all the other schools as well . With DESS at least , they are quite upfront and honest about your chances of acceptance . ( priority to British passport holders , priority to siblings etc... )and when I asked , they did give me my 'approximate' number on the waiting list . In my opinion , DESS has one of the most transparent and honest approaches ( I should know - I applied to 5 schools ! )

I use the Clinique sun block with my son . He has eczema too and when he does get flare ups they are really bad . As if you dipped him in boiling water :( Never had any issues with Clinique .

There are plenty of things to see ( for a newcomer at least ) . The Museum , Kattara , the Pearl , the souq etc... Buy a copy of Doha Explorer or Marhaba . You will find plenty of ideas for things to do in there .

We have several rooms in our compound . Those generally are for free but you may need to book them for an event if there will be a lot of people going . There is one big room and for that you could pay anywhere between 1000 -1500 QR . They rent that room to outside parties as well .

Ezdan Towers in Westbay are serviced appartments . We lived there when we first arrived to Doha . For a 2 bedroom flat we paid 15,500 . There are one bedroom flats as well . So they will be cheaper . The facilities are fantastic ! Great pool , restaurants , a supermarket and state of the art gym .
