could you please tell me which avos to buy? we've bought avos from kenya, us, sa, egypt, local and from spinneys, choitrams, lulus - you name it! - and have NEVER been happy. cant remember the last time we ate avo, exactly for this reason.

i cant remember the consultation fee, i'm afraid. but the whole op + after-care was dhs.20,000. money well spent. i had the tip done and some cartilage removed. i was done at 8am and was home at 1pm. the most painful op ever LOL but so worth it.

we need to erect a little fence in our back garden (with a gate) - wooden would be fine. any recommendations? i've been told to speak to our gardener but he can scarcely water our grass LOL so i dont want to give him a building task. is this something the plant souq would be able to assist with? tia

they discovered my heart murmur last year (i'm 39 this year). i never had it as a child so it had somehow developed over the years. i had it checked out by dr binbreck in bur dubai (supposedly the best in his field?). he told me not to worry and i've never had any problems. perhaps just check it out for your own peace of mind. good luck x

sorry about that. wouldnt a general oncologist be able to help? or at least refer you to a specialist in gynaecological oncology? hope you get sorted soon.

agree with fairycakeyumm. you'd be surprised to find out how tolerant most locals are with regards to ramadan, but because it's the law .. it is what it is.

disagree derien. force majeure is force majeure ... in dubai, europe, us, africa. it is a standard clause and any solicitor will fight this tooth and nail. "this is dubai" will not stick in a court of law ... not even here.

force majeur has nothing at all to do with generators and water. it's "higher power", i.e. acts of god (natural disasters, war etc) they're trying to pull a fast one.

i'm 18 weeks and surrounded by fasting muslims in the office. i asked the question and one guy's response to me was "only idiots will tell a non-fasting muslim/christian/whatever that it's wrong to eat in public. it is our religion, our will-power should be strong enough to withstand looking at you eating your sandwich." i've been in egypt during ramadan and they dont close restaurants or hang curtains ... it's business as usual. i have respect for those around me because i know there are a lot of people who will over-react to me drinking/eating - i'm not doing it willy nilly - but when i'm hungry or thirsty, i will eat and drink. i have the picture of my last scan with me and if someone cant see my bump, i'll take it out and tell them to shhhhh. and i will not eat in a toilet. fully agree with another poster, it is gross. btw shellly, all turned out so well in the end (re: cvs)

thank you ladies, we're considering all options. aya007, can i contact you? how would you feel about reciprocal baby-sitting? our chi's are more or less the same age, same s3x and same temperament. perhaps we could arrange a play-date?

they are such sensitive little creatures, where do you board yours when you go away on vacation? i've contacted woof as per another thread on this board but we are so unsure (not about woof, but about kennels in general). we love her to bits and would hate to put her somewhere where she'll be unnerved. any advice/suggestions welcome. tia

we're in jafza and we have reduced hours. our hr sends out a cleverly worded email to the effect that "it is the law but please dont let your work suffer because of it". so we do leave earlier but most of us work from home then (although not every day). i have left 2hrs earlier most days - except when my muslim line manager stays late - and no one has frowned upon it. ever.
