Hello Samash, I live in Ghoroob and I like it because it is a family area with lots of green and playgrounds for the children. BUT... unfortunately since Empower came in and we have to pay the AC to them based on a meter reading, it just got ridiculously expensive. I can't really give you examples, as I have just registered with them now so I haven't got my first bill yet, but there are so many issues, people are moving out because of that. Not sure it will worth staying in Ghoroob if we have to pay almost 2000 AED monthly + demand fee quarterly and minimum charge, too for the AC. This is what I hear from others.. for a 2 bedroom apartment their bill was 1800 AED for the first month. I will see how our bill is going to be, but to be honest with you if that is the case, we will probably not renew here and move somewhere else, even thoughwe live in Ghoroob since 2010.... You can search on facebook for posts from Mirdif Mums or Ghoroob groups, so many complaints are happening and people are not happy unfortunately. If you want to stay in this area or close by, but Shorooq looks pricey, try Al Warqaa that's the closest to Mirdif and prices are still reasonable. Hope this was helpful... good luck with your search! We just got the first bill from Empower for Dh1183 for 2BDR with Dh 927 as Demand Charges!! and we don't use AC that much with weather getting pleasent but this is really going to be the reason to relocate from Ghuroob if we have to (unfortunately).

You may check Courtyard by Marriott Herald Square that is on 35th St, next to Macy's or Langham Palace that is right on 5th Ave between 37th & 36th. Both are good hotels, close to Times Square but bit far from Central Park.

I was in Zaks store last week to pick up uniforms for my DS. First of all you don't get the proper sizes, the smallest size they carry now is 5-6 years, then the material of the cloth and specially of the PE polo shirts don't look like cotton at all and my DS is allergic to non-cotton materials... The quality you get is not worth at all for the amount you pay and I can't buy it from anywhere else as the school has their logo on the shirts, restricting us to buy from this store only. School PE kit is always polyester , just like other sports kit you get in sportswear shops. Polyester is a fabric of choice due to it's quick drying property but quality is a different matter. This is what I told the guy in Zaks who was helping us for the sizes and when I saw the PE shirt, knowing that it is polyester and doctor has told to wear "only cotton" for my son, I asked him if there's any cotton shirts and he said, this is cotton.....

Osteopathic Health Center at Wasl road, next to Choithram, Dr. Vaneeta Shahani. I was taking my son to her for eczema and other issues. You might get the first appointment after a month or so but after that the follow up visits are easy.

Hi, thank you all, I'll go today and check the stores / brands you mentioned. He had been wearing StrideRite and found them comfortable. Want to visit Pablosky and Buckle Up also. Notnewintown, any idea when was the sale last year at Pablosky? Will check Oasis Center stores but going to MOE and finding a parking on Saturdays is really frustrating so may be visit there in week days.

We were there yesterday and apparently kids enjoyed it. All kids had a chance at the end for a group photo with Dora, Diego though Diego's get up was horrible. If you park in Toys R Us parking and take the elevators up, its just there. Hope this helps.

You're welcome, Just a correction, I think the Medical Arts Clinic is not the right landmark but if you are on the same road where Umm Suqueim Park is then you are at the right place.

May be a visit to a Trichologist (not sure who is a good one here in Dubai) would help. Otherwise you could look for a good anti-dandruff shampoo that is suitable for kids.

I also looked on the internet but couldn't find any information on the exact place so headed towards Jumeirah beach road to try our luck and while we were on a traffic signal, saw the fireworks coming up. The best location to see it would be from St. No. 2C off Jumeirah Beach Road, behind Medical Arts Clinic. If you park the car just there on 2C St. you can have a spectacular view tonight at 8:30pm.

What I meant by Proper Schooling was starting with Grade 1. And by UAE law from what someone mentioned, kids need to be in school during the scholastic year they are 5 rising 6 so hopefully he should be ok if starts FS1 in 2015… He just turned 2 last month but understands and recognizes all alphabets and phonics, numbers up to 10, completes all basic puzzles and loves to be in the company of other kids and that made me thought if he could start FS1 next year but as you say, may be it's better to give him some more time so he's more confident when he is on his own and away for half of the day.

Thank you ladies for your input. So basically if he starts FS1 at age 4 and FS2 at age 5 and proper schooling at the age of 6, that should be fine?

I downloaded Snapp www.snapp.ae when I was in t&t tonight....it's fab, basically manages what those paper cards do but on your phone. Apparently they have a sushi place on it and the texmex place Tocado in MOE signed up too. Going to mention it to my hairdresser and get them to sign up. Irsee what salon does your DH have? Hi Emmajm, sorry was out of country and couldn't reply you earlier. Am not sure if you've heard about Amaya Salons. They are in Downtown Burj area and in Lamcy Plaza.

I submitted application for my DS at Gems Silicon Oasis for FS1 2014 session. The other day I received a call from a representative of the school informing that the child should be 3 years by or before 15th of September 2014 and my child was TOO YOUNG as per his birth date so they could not consider him for 2014 but may be I could take chance for 2015 session. Now I don't have any issues with their policies but wondering if a difference of just 9 DAYS could really make him TOO YOUNG Any idea if all the schools follow the same rule? His DOB is 24th Sep btw

You know the other day DH was mentioning this to me that he wanted to introduce some E-Loyality card for his company's salons as these paper cards sometime become nuisance to carry around. He found one called "stamp me" and wanted to try that. Will tell him to check this Snapp also.

Delivered in Latifa (Ex Al Wasl) hospital last September. What I can tell you from my experience is that you can register with Latifa but all your initial visits would be in one of their associated government clinics until you are in your 8th month. The facilities were excellent in Latifa and I would definitely prefer going back to them (hopefully)
