I've been looking for a good hair stylist in Dubai for 6years already until I found Selma at Sisters Salon in MOE and I stopped looking already. If she plans to move to another salon someday, I will definitely follow her. if ever, I hope it's just in Dubai or I'll be damned :P She's so good and such a sweetheart :)

Are you asking for recommendation or are you recommending the link you shared? I used CosmoMed at Al Barsha opp MOE, because it's close to my place. I am happy with the result and they even gave me free skin consultation from their dermatologist when I was having skin allergies on my face during one of my visits ;)

You may join this facebook page of ladies (usually mummies) : https://www.facebook.com/groups/358388787626847/ We usually have ladies nights, ladies days, play day, etc. ;) Or join this MeetUp.Com and find a category of your interests so that you will meet like-minded people like yours by joining activities planned by the hosts ;) It was indeed difficult to find and keep friends here. I stick to these 2 groups and found great friends that shares similar interests as mine. I wasn't luck with EW meet-ups though, they seem to know each other a lot already and I felt out of place when I attended twice before :(

You'll get overwhelmed if you go to Dragonmart because there are tons of curtain stalls there, prices may be all the same but it's difficult to find a good one that can sew neatly and generous with fabrics. After using different stalls there over the years, I've finally found a good one comparable to those expensive ones, Whatsapp 0556683469 look for Aaliyah, she's very professional and so is her installers.

Headache right? :P Since you are still in UK, follow Rawla's suggestions. My experience is a bit different because we are already here in Dubai. We got married in Cyprus. They were all very helpful, the Paphos town sent our marriage certificate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs themselves. Then I called the recipient in MOFA in Cyprus and they advised me to arrange DHL to pick it up at her office (and pay 5euros), then DHL sent it to me here in Dubai. Voila! :P So I suggest also to try calling the marriage officials in the the city/town in Prague where you got married and if they could do the same for you? Unless you want to visit Prague again ;) When you get here in Dubai, you still need your attested marriage certificate to be attested more lol, you need to go to: 1. Dubai Courts for translation only if it's not in English. 2. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of UAE. 3. Ministry of Justice It's a lot of steps but worth it when you accomplish it by yourself, agents doing this are so expensive!

This is a great thread! We are looking there too. Is Greens the same as Green Community? Thanks. Green Community is farther, it's after Jebel Ali and new Dubai airport. I love living in The Greens too! Been here for 4 years now, my husband has been here for 6 years, and we don't intend to move elsewhere. It's just that it's getting too expensive here, makes it difficult for me to convince my friends to move here, 2 friends already found cheaper rates in Downtown! >.<

Tallybait, you're the shiznit of Dubai supermarkets! ^.^ I do my groceries at Carrefour MOE, and pork shopping at Choithrams The Greens. I have yet to try the FISH MARKET some people are raving about! They say it's huge and soooo cheap! How true? And is it worth the visit? It's quite far from where we stay :P

I'm doing laser hair removal at Belle de Jour by MOE and am thrilled with the results. Hi Daza, I am planning to get laser hair removal too and this is quite the closest or most convenient location for me as I always do my shopping in MOE. Would you mind sharing how much is it? I am doing my Lycon waxing at Sisters Salon at MOE, and it's becoming more expensive now >.<

I had mine done for my wedding only. Yes, it's pretty but the feeling was like having false eyelashes all the time, even before you go to sleep which is quite uncomfortable for me. I would have it done again but only on special occasions.

I used to live in a multi-cultural country too which is Singapore. The difference is that men there (Asian or Westerners) do not dare to "stare" at you as a lady can report them to the police and it's enough ground for molestation (which I also find too much sometimes!). Here I find men (Asian and Westerners) do stare at you, so what I do in that situation is just IGNORE them, I'm a friendly person but would rather not smile back at them as a friend advised me not to be over-friendly here with men as it would imply something else. At metro, there is a cab for women and children only. I always stay there no matter how packed it is sometimes, at least I feel comfortable ;)

You will enjoy those 3 places and if you can't find a travel buddy, these are safe places to travel alone too. A tip for solo travellers like me (when DH is busy or just lazy!) visit this site and sign in: www.travbuddy.com I'm a member of this travel site since 2008 and has been very helpful for me with travel tips esp when I'm travelling alone. When you sign up and update your profile to places you are going, you can actually see fellow members who are also travelling at the same travel dates as yours. You may be lucky too to find travbuddy who are also coming from UAE. Just be careful though with other opportunist members, keep in mind that this is not couchsurfing site or dating site, so just look at their profile, their vouches, etc. then you'll be fine!

I forgot to add that we have a dog...are dogs permitted in condos? Or that would restrict us to a villa? Can dogs go in taxis? edited by ChilliChai on 29/01/2015 It depends on the size of your dog, there are some dogs especially the big ones that are not allowed in apartments (or known as HDBs) and condominiums. You may want to check more infos about this.

If you have the same religion and not in a hurry, your church can help you like the other ladies above. At least you get to celebrate right after your wedding! But if you want a quick and easy steps to get married, I suggest you get married in Cyprus. I'm not sure about Canadians, but with Brits, all you need to bring is your passport and birth certificate, you will just need to buy stamps there at the town hall for your letter stating you are single. On the day you submit your requirements, they can marry you in 3days! You need to email them beforehand of the date you want to get married, they reply to emails efficiently. Congratulations btw! ;)

I used to live and work in Singapore for 5 years. 225k SGD is sufficient enough, depending on where you live and which schools you enroll your kids. The closer you are in the city centre, the more expensive it is. You can still find good villas, but be prepared to live quite far from the centre. There are a lot of new condominiums there that are closer to city centre, you may want to consider that, because I find condominiums there to have better amenities than those here in Dubai, it's also very child-friendly. Singapore is very small anyway, so I don't think it will be a problem. Same goes to say that commuting is not a problem as well, it's very convenient and has a good system unlike here. Cars are considered luxury there, but having two kids, you may want one, which I think you can still afford. A helper will be around 1000-2000SGD (3000-6000AED), depending on the nationality. I find the food quite the same in Dubai if you do your groceries in supermarkets here. For me, eating out in Singapore is so much cheaper because food hawkers are almost everywhere, you cannot find that here in Dubai, even the food courts here are more expensive. Fast food like McDonalds are more expensive there because they discourage people from eating junk. However, if you dine out in a restaurant, the price will be the same as Dubai, but with little servings compared here. Same thing with alcohol, it's the same price as in Dubai but you get more here. A tall glass of vodka cranberry price here is just half-glass in Sg! People buy their booze stocks at DutyFree, there's no way you can buy a reasonable priced booze outside the airports there. I agree with Yorky, maybe you can try to post in Singapore forum too. Good luck ;)

Sorry have just logged back in the the site, and seen the replies. I managed to find a quick place on google. They had them fitted the next day and had a great choice. The guys name was Sam he was English, his company is Easy Blinds 0502132153. I obviously have no comparison but am more than happy with the service and quality. Once again thank you all for your suggestions Does he do draperies too?

I'm a part of a group of musicians that gathers every now and then and jam. There are a lot of good musicians in this group that I can recommend depending on what type of music or genre you want. They have day jobs and are not professional musicians though. Also, you may find acoustic artists on the upcoming concert event at Garden Centre at SZR on Feb11, some of our group members will perform there too, check this out: https://www.facebook.com/events/1583697231875182/?pnref=lhc.recent

I have the same problem for years now, but my hair is too thick so I am not that bothered losing some but it's just troublesome that i have to vacuum often because DH is telling me we can already make a carpet out of my fallen hair around the house! >.< I want to try this even if I'm a bit worried my hair will get thicker and messier than it already is! Do you want to consider getting married in Cyprus? DH is a British citizen and he only brought his passport and birth certificate with him, then we went to a government building beside the town hall for him to buy a stamp for his letter stating he is single (take note, it was even handwritten haha! we didn't know he's required to do this). It's so unfair because for me I have to submit a birth certificate and certificate of no marriage from my country attested by the Cypriot embassy in my country >.< I only emailed the town hall to schedule an appointment for our wedding, then they emailed us back the list of requirements we need to submit 3 days prior to our chosen date. On our wedding day, in less than 10minutes we were married! :P

I had my IPL for my underarms years ago, and i think 6 sessions is really not enough. I had 12 sessions for my underarms and now I only have like 3-5 hairs growing every month, i just pluck them out :P However, I am looking for laser removal for bikini, any good clinic recommendations around JLT/Marina/MediaCity/Tecom/MOE? I'm tempted too with Groupon offers, but not sure if they'll do the job properly you won't add more sessions!

I recently have a new crown, it costs me 2,200 for the crown and 1,200 for the root canal (+300 for discounted filling) I find it also pricey but they accept my insurance so I guess it's just okay for me. However, I am surprised with their root canal procedure now, it only took like less than 30mins! They told me they're using new technology. Just amazing!
