Has anyone else had trouble using Draw Something on their iPad? For the past week or so, it doesn't go beyond the "Getting Ready" screen on mine. Downloaded the game two months ago on my iPad 2 and have never been able to play it, not once! It's always stuck at the "Getting Ready" screen. Have tried deleting and re-installing it a few times to no avail. Very frustrating as I keep reading about how the good the game is and really want to play it. Me too, I've reinstalled it a few times and it's still stuck on that same screen. Hmmm...seems like a common problem. Anyone found a solution for this? I did a search on some forums and all I found was that it's probably a server problem. So far, the only solution given was to reinstall it. So did I! And we know that doesn't work:( Let me know if you find a solution please. edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 11/07/2012

Hi TimTam, I went to Ferrari World with a group of friends for the first time two days ago and had a blast. I had read some mixed reviews about it and was really hesitant about going but I am glad that I did go. Here's a couple of tips to make sure you really enjoy it: - get there early. The earlier it is, the smaller the queuing time is. Even better, go on a weekday. - Buy your tickets online before going. We made the mistake of going on a public holiday and not buying our tickets in advance resulting in us queuing for over an hour to buy our tickets. - On the morning of your visit and before you head out, check their website as they give a daily update on which rides are open for that day and which rides are closed. The day we went all rides were open. - If you decide to go on a weekend or a public holiday, get the premium pass which costs 100 AED more than the standard pass but gives you access to the fast track lane. This would significantly cut back your queuing time. The day we went the queue for Formula Rossa ( world's fastest rollercoaster) was about three hours long and with our premium passes we ( ok I really mean my friends, I chickened out at the last second and didn't go on) managed to get on the ride within 30 minutes!!! I do really recommend that you visit as they have some awesome rides and simulators. We really did have a great day. HTH edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 19/06/2012

Dubai Mall fountains? Our favorite is the Thai restaurant in Souk Bahar but you need to book in advance and specify that you want a balcony table. Great view all night. It is also licenced. For an informal lunch the souk bahar has Baker and Spice, and there is Cafe More, Carluccios etc all over on the mall side. [b'>The best unlicensed mall restaurant which has a first floor external balcony is easily accessible from inside the mall and we always get a table easily. Gosh the name of it escapes me now! Ill write back when I remember but they could easily turn up for table as long as its not a weekend evening.[/b'> Hilsbils, have you remembered the name of this restaurant in the mall yet? I need to go and have a look around and book somewhere for 10 of us for next weekend. Thanks. Could it be Joe's Cafe or Dean & Deluca Cafe? I haven't tried them but I've checked the store locator on the website and both have a 1st floor balcony right infront of the fountains. Alternatively, Hallab on the 2nd floor has a large balcony and excellent Lebanese food. Here's a picture of the view from the balcony. [url=http://yelloclients.info/al-hallab/'>link[/url'> Just make sure to book in advance if you're going on a weekend as it gets really busy edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 13/06/2012 edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 13/06/2012

Hmmm, I guess this brings me to my next question... does anyone know whether the rink at Wafi hires out skates as I didn't bring my blades with me. I'm finding it difficult to get detailed information about them. Thanks in advance I haven't been there in many years so I can't quite remember if they do hire out skates. Why don't u call them and ask? Here's their contact information. [url=http://www.wafi.com/searchdetails.aspx?id=1308&tid=288'>http://www.wafi.com/searchdetails.aspx?id=1308&tid=288'>[/url'>

If you do go for longer, I would HIGHLY recommend hiring a car and driver and doing an excursion to Byblos (going via the Jeita Grotto) or Baalbeck. These Roman ruins just have to be seen to be believed - they are awesome, and the Grotto is a series of interlinked caves full of stalagtites and stalegmites. The driving is super crazy there so its not for the faint hearted and best left up to the local drivers! Oh I agree Byblos is lovely and not to be missed!

Another really nice and vibrant street is Al Hamra street which has a lot of hotels, restaurants, and shops. I have personally stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Al Hamra street. It's a really nice hotel and I don't remember it being too expensive. There are plenty of other options in that area too. Just google hotels in Hamra street Don't miss out on downtown Beirut ( lots of restaurants and shops) and the famous pigeon rock in Raouche. Also, visit Jounieh area ( just outside of beirut) which has a lot of nice beach clubs, bars, and restaurants. Don't know if you're planning on venturing out of Beirut but if you do, don't miss visiting the Jeita grotto. It's just amazing and only about a 30 minute drive from Beirut. [url=http://www.jeitagrotto.com/'>link[/url'> A bit further out of Beirut is an area called broumana in mount lebanon. I recommend eating at restaurant called Mounir as the food is delicious and the views are amazing. Lebanon is a beautiful country and I'm sure you'll have a great time there. edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 07/06/2012

@ Jas: Yes BMP is correct, here's a picture of sumac so you know what you'e buying. [url='> http://nuts.com/cookingbaking/herbsspices/sumac.html [/url'>. A word of advice though. Be careful with the lemon juice, sumac, and molasses as all three are sour. I'd start with a tablespoon of sumac and molasses and the juice of half a lemon. Balance it out with the olive oil ( about 3-4 tablespoons) and salt then take it from there if you think it needs any adjustments. @Redlesly: You will usually find it in the aisle that has vinegar and olive oil. Edited to correct hyperlink- still a newbie! Argh ! edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 04/06/2012 edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 04/06/2012

Hi Jas, Fatoush dressing contains pomegranate molasses ( known in Arabic as dibs rumman) and not pomegranate juice. You can buy this at any large supermarket. The dressing typically conSists of olive oil, dibs, lemon juice, and salt. Sometimes sumac is added as well. HTH

these are the best in town Al Hallab - Garhood ----- 250 -300 dhs per pax Hallab all the way. The food is just lovely. But 250-300 per person in Hallab doesn't sound right . I've been to hallab more times than I can count and I think the average is more along the lines of 100-150 per person

Because it is not a mixed wedding, then I am assuming it is for a GCC national. Arabs from other countries tend to have mixed weddings. So provided it is indeed that, it is safe to say that your DH should arrive empty-handed. That is not entirely correct AD. Many Non-GCC Arabs have segregated weddings as well. I'm a non-GCC Arab ( Palestinian to be exact) and I can safely say that 75% of the Non-GCC arab weddings that I've attended ( and believe me I've been to MANY!!!) were segregated. Each country has its own tradition but it also depends on how religious the family is. So, a segregated wedding does not automatically mean that it is for a GCC National. edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 28/05/2012 Yes, I understand that, which is why I used the words "tend to" which imply "not always" in English. I apologize AD . I misread your post. Should have read it more carefully before posting back.

Hi, As Monkey Face said, for the most part, guests are not expected to bring gifts to the wedding. But in some Arab countries, there is a tradition where close family members give money to the bride and groom at the wedding or buy gold for the bride and give it to her at the wedding. That said, family and friends usually visit the newly weds at their home soon after the weddingand that is when gifts are expected.

My aunt and uncle (they are a couple) both turn 50 when we are going home this summer and I was thinking that a giftbasket with arabic things would be lovely. So far these things are on my list: Saffron, vanilla pods, arabic tea + honey, pashmina, tealight candle holder (the kind you find at souk al bahar) dates and a bottle of sparkling pomegranate drink. Im pretty new to Dubai so please do help me out if you can think of anything else. Especially if you have anything more "manly" as these things feel more for my aunt than my uncle. TIA edited by Pupa on 25/05/2012 Hi Pupa, Here's a couple of ideas I can think of at the moment: 1) a canvas with their names written using Arabic calligraphy/ keychains with their names in Arabic engraved. 2) Doesn't Starbucks do mugs with Arabic designs like camels? Jayjay, Could you please let me know where you got them from as I am looking for a couple of colours but can't find them. Used to be able to get from Le Marche but they haven't had the colours I need for a few weeks now. Thanks in advance. First post....Here goes! The printer at my office uses this type of cartridge. I usually source them from small stationery shops in deira/qusais. I have the phone numbers of a several of these stationery shops and I order the cartrirges and they deliver them to the office. HTH
