So when he returns in June does he contact DVLA to get the UK one reinstated as he will be leaving Dubai for Uni then? What does he do with UAE one? Can it be cancelled?

He is 18 and his dad is his sponsor. Uk passport holder. Do they take the UK licence when you get UAE one and if so how easy is it to change once he leaves? He will only be here until end June but wants to get a bit of experience driving here.

We have been using BA every year for 6 years to send our dog home to UK for summer and she is due to leave this week. They are now requesting a photo of the travel crates used and saying ours looks too small. It is not as she has used with them every year. DH going to see them today but can anyone suggest where you can buy one if they refuse her travel, Or has anyone got a medium sized one suitable for a cocker spaniel they are not using this summer. Thanks in advance

It seems there are many of us having the same issues with texting UK. I have narrowed it down to T Mobile and virgin networks. Called Etisalat again today as I am being charged for the texts not being received. They are adamant that it is not an Etisalat issue but the UK networks. My friend has called t mobile and been told no issue their side. Anyone have any other updates?

I also had the Groupon voucher and felt the same. I thought it would be the best salon in town, wrong. Shabby. Was really pleased with the haircut but not mani/ped. My nails were also cut way too short and had sore toes for a few days. My fingernails were ruined and have now had to have silk repairs done as they all split. Wont be rushing back :-(

We took a friend to Skybar in the evening last week. Have to phone and make a reservation and leave Credit Card details but it is 225 dhs per head, so the cheapest way to get inside. Fab views of skyline at night and can have a good look around hotel before you go to bar. Can spend the money on drinks or snacks.

Comments have been very helpful. Thought it was just my son who rebelled at bedtime. I will in future set 11pm as deadline and hope he sticks to it as fed up arguing. Problem is he hates getting up in the morning which leads to an argument. Teenagers are hard work.

Hetfield we send our dog back every summer to uk and the vets number we use is 04 2834970. Desk not always manned but just keep trying. And they do accept dirhams as the past few years none of the post offices could issue e dirham cards. If this is the case when you try just tell vet and should'nt be a problem. Good Luck.

BITS I have claimed VAT back several times when leaving Heathrow. When you buy the goods the store will have to fill in the paperwork and state amount of Tax to be refunded. It s done on a scale so depending on amount spent will determine how much you get back. I have claimed for laptops etc in past and only got about 10 per cent back. You will also be charged an admin fee. Not all stores take part in the scheme and I was told cannot be claimed for online purchases. Hope this helps.

My son had symptoms that indicated he could be Celiac last year. He had the specific blood test at GP's in Dubai and it came back 99% positive. We had the same test re done in Uk at Great Ormond Street hospital and it came back negative. He then had little choice but to have an endoscopy to confirm one way or the other. Thankfully he had no signs of being Celiac. A worrying time but so relieved as it would have been life changing for him.
