Hubby would be recognized easily by my oldest. She is one smart cookie...shame as he would love to do it. No, I agree. Don't want a random man in my house which is why I thought I'd post here. Was hoping for a recommendation from someone who had hired one. I am pretty sure I have heard of a couple of companies who provide party entertainment etc who do it, but as with everything else, some will be better than others.

Dubizzle? I heard there was one specifically for baby related items, but not sure of the name? I don't have a lot, but want to get rid of them now that we are not using anymore. ....mamas and papas car seat, Dr Browns bottles, sterilizer, dishwasher basket. They aren't really big items so not sure where is the best place to list them. Thanks!

Thank you Quinn. I bought a couple of the dresses yesterday. The guy at the uniform shop said the same thing. No one buys the shirt and short until year 3 or so. Thanks again!

How many uniforms do you recommend? My daughter is starting FS1 at KINGS next month and I am not sure how many needed. The uniform options is a dress and a shirt and skort combination. I was thinking to get one each until I see which she ends up wearing more of before purchasing another. Any advice or recommendations?

I am looking for someone who can put some artwork together for print media. Don't want to pay a fortune for it either so don't want to go to one of the big agencies. Looking for a freelance designer or a small boutique company that does quality work. Any suggestions

Wine is always an appreciated gift. I have done wine clubs before where the recipient receives a red and a white every month for how many months we buy (3, 6, 12) The wine is selected by experts and there is always information about the wine and recommendations as to what food is best with it. My mom is hardest to buy for and I have done the spa day to death. Need inspiration!!!

Has anyone seen any while they are out and about? I called Dubai Garden Center and they don't have theirs yet. Last year, I don't think they received them until middle of December and ideally, I would like to have them earlier. Thanks!

Sorry you and your daughter are having a hard time at nursery. Such a shame. I started my daughter at nursery last December and was very happy with the settling in process. We went for just an hour or so the first day and gradually spent more time there. Starting for the second day, I left her for a short time (30 minutes) and then gradually spent longer times away. For the first two weeks, she went everyday so that we didn't have to start at square one after a day off. By the end of the first week, I left her for 2 hours and by the middle of the 2nd week, she was spending the entire time on her own. I was lucky. I only had one crying episode and that was the first time I left her. Quite frankly, I am sure it was because I didn't actually talk to her and explain that I was leaving and would be back in a few minutes. I just snuck away and when she realised I was gone, she panicked. The second day I left her, I told her I was leaving to check on her baby sister and would be back soon and she was fine. She was 2years 2 months when we started. She is now almost 3 and this year we didn't have any problems settling in although I expected some with a new classroom and a new teacher. Every child is different, but I think the main key is to leave for short periods in the beginning so that she gets confident that you are coming back. Also, make sure you come back a bit early so that she isn't one of the last ones leaving in the beginning. Once she builds her confidence, she will be fine. Definitely talk to the teacher or the administrator. Good luck!

I have also been concerned about Flouride for my daughter (3 years) as too much isn't good and too little isn't either. Actually, too much is more harmful than too little. As my husband is a dentist, we are using "Arwa" water and plan to have the correct amount of flouride administered if needed during her check ups.

I am doing Dubai/LA followed by another connection in a few days with a 2.5 year old and a 9month old....by myself! Scared to death! I took my oldest one to the states twice before having our second child and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. A few things to consider. I flew the night flights hoping that I would get her to sleep at least 6-8 hours of the flight (not all at once). That still leaves a LOT of time to entertain them and we still had a connecting flight to take! I packed a few small lightweight toys that were new to her so that they kept her entertained for a bit including a scribbler, triangle crayons and a coloring book, flash cards with pictures, finger puppets from Ikea and a book (That's not my airplane) that has the different textures on each page. Lots of snacks. If you have an iPhone or iPad, get some new apps that will keep them amused. There are several free ones out there. I took a small portable DVD player with her favorite Barney DVD's and made sure she hasn't watched them for about 10 days so that they kept her entertained. The inflight entertainment was also very good and kept her amused for awhile. Not sure I will take the DVD player on this next trip now that I have the iPhone. If I think of anything else, I will post later. Good Luck!

I am really sad to hear this. I can only imagine how frustrating it is for a mom to watch her kids go down a path that is so painful and difficult. Sadly at 16 years old, not many will realise the importance of their behaviour and their choices until it is too late. Counselling would be great, but only if she will participate willingly. I agree with the tough love approach. Very difficult, but also very important as her whole future depends on what she accomplishes in these very important years. I am friends on FB with the younger sister of my long time friend and classmate. This girl never graduated from highschool and only last week got her GED at the age of 42! The only reason she got it is because she was fired from her job of 6 years after them finding out she did not have a highschool diploma or the equivilant. She is always on FB complaining of money and not making ends meet and having to move apartments etc as she struggles. It is really sad and sometimes I cringe at the stuff she posts. Anyway, my point is that if she doesn't get her act together, you are going to watch her struggle. Let me know if there is anything I can do. x

Dr Majid works out of Latifa Hospital (formerly Al Wasl), but if you are looking for rehabilitation for your son, he has opened a private rehabilitation center in Healthcare City for pediatric Neurology patients. You could see him at Latifa Hospital if you have a DHA healthcard. Otherwise, do a search on EW for Dr Kayed as he has been mentioned on this site for Neurology and seems to be well liked. Good luck!

I ordered from Amazon in the UK and contacted their customer service 2 weeks after the estimated delivery date. I used the "CHat" facility on their website and had it sorted within minutes. They sent another one the next day and I received it about 7 days later. I also recieved an email apologising for the inconvenience and asking me to cancel the order if the original shipment arrived prior to the new order being shipped. It then said if I finally did receive the original order to keep it with their compliments as the shipping would cause me more inconvenience and cost. IMPRESSIVE! I never received the original order, but was very impressed with their customer service. MUCH better than the customer service I am NOT receiving from Groupon!! What a difference!!! Good Luck!

If your teeth are a nice shape, you are happy with the color then I would suggest Invisalign. Normally, the straightening process is shorter than traditional braces, but of course this would depend on your individual case assuming you are a candidate for Invisalign. It would also work out cheaper than Veneers assuming you are going for more than just a few teeth. But again, best to check with a Dentist for the best treatment option. If you are due for a normal dental exam anyway, go and discuss the options available at the same time to avoid an extra consultation cost.

I am in the process of potty training my daughter who is almost 2.5 years old. We are on day 3 and I am definitely seeing signs of success! We are just keeping the potty next to her and reminding her of it occassionally. We watch he for signs (crossing her legs or holding herself) and when we do, we put her on the potty. A couple of times she has told us "pee pee" and we rush to the potty. I think a few accidents are needed in order for them to understand the feeling she gets right before she goes. Don't give up once you start even if you feel frustrated. I wanted to yesterday, but am so glad I didn't as today is much better! Good Luck!

A dog park would be fabulous. That way people who wanted to bring their kids could. I would even be willing to pay a nominal fee to go for the upkeep of the park. Sadly, the problem I can see happening would be similiar to that of what happened at the Dog Show the other day. Unsocialised dogs, irresponsibile owners = Chaos!

Even if the dog WAS muzzled at time of entering, there is no guarantee that the owners would keep the muzzle on it for the duration of the event. Sadly, this was bound to happen here. I am surprised it took 24 years of Dog shows before it did quite frankly. Dog fighting exists here as well as the mentality of BIG FIERCE DOG = STATUS. Very sad for everyone involved. I pray that a BIG lesson has been learned by many. The organisers, the authorities, dog owners, breeders...etc.

Definitely the key to smooth Hummus is to take as many of the skins off the beans as possible. It is easy to do, but time consuming. The other thing I do is to whip the tahina and lemon juice first and then add the other ingredients.
