Don't know have not looked at ingredients on non alcohol beer. Just wanted to let people know there is an alternative to alcohol based beer. With regards to alergies or intolerences. i would think people with alergies need and should inform hosts and maybe give them the option of bring their own food to a party if necessary. With regard to intolerences that is different I understand and may not be as crucial as alergy. So many people appear to have intolerences now and a nightmare for any host. Non Alcoholic beer is for sale in supermarkets It's wheat based isn't it?

Dear delighted Would you please give us the link for the other thread you refer to. Thank you There is another thread about this, will not take everyones attention (topic title) . this might. as one lady said, it has everyone talking for a few days, then dies down. I for one have posted on here about this before, and same thing. Plenty people will say, well think about what we did at their age, but we did not have the same potential consequences. How do we do something about it? I am not a parent with my head in the sand, but short of permanently grounding my kids, am struggling to come up with a solution. http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/general/parents-panic-over-milkman-1.763456 edited by Delighted on 17/02/2011

I have friends who go and have mentioned the following , Depending on the weather it can get hot there and get sunburnt without realising. If people go on mobiles or noisy adults / children , you will be asked to be quiet and if not to leave. People are there to enjoy tennis ( not a social occasion) Hopefully a 3 moth old is easier to handle than a 6 month old.

Consequences ! The only answer I would give to those who ask about hotel rooms for unmarried people, is that it might be ok, but please remember you are breaking a law and you are far away from home, and do not forget that your embassy cannot and will not help you. i think this is very sensible advice.....

Very well put ! Good advice for us all to note. Let me introduce you to your friend... Your friends name is X. X is a compulsive spender. She has no control over what she buys. X gets paid on Thursdays. On Thursday and Friday she lives like a Queen, on Saturday through Wednesday she lives like a pauper. To get her from Saturday to Wednesday, she borrows money off people/porns her things/does small jobs to get pittance. If you meet her on these days you will feel such pity for her. Because, on these days, she genuinely is sorry for having wasted her money and genuinely is in a bad place, so it's obvious you'd believe her. On those days, if she had money, she imagines she would pay you back. Then it's Thursday again and the money is paid. She has spent the week 'poor' so needs to make herself feel better. She is a queen again. Dinners, movies, new clothes... but doesn't want to pay people back because 'she's doesn't have the money to pay you back... she's only got enough money to cover the bills' (bills in this case are the things she's dreamed of buying all week). Point of this tale? When you tell her you want the money and put the pressure on, you're making the chances of repayment slimmer. Why? Because Saturday to Wednesday X gets depressed and 'wishes' she had money. 'If only I had money, then I wouldn't be in this mess :(' Come Thursday, she has to spend more on herself because she's felt so down this week and you are now making her feel bad for spending the money on herself so she spends more on herself to get rid of that guilt. She eats more, shops more... For as long as she is in this cycle you will never get your money. You could discuss a 'payment plan' with her and have her sign a payback agreements, giving you something signed to enforce in a court against her. But even if you do enforce it against her, it's contract law. You will need to open a civil case against her and pay a lawyer to go to court to get it back, or represent yourself and sit in a pile of people also trying to get their money back. She will then agree to settle. She won't. You'll be back in court. She'll agree to settle it again. She won't. It's a long cycle. It's not a criminal offense to breach a contract so the police won't have anything to do with it. You don't need her to 'be honest and say she can't repay it', because she won't do that. You need to be the controller and step out and call it as it is. She will not pay this back. If she does, that's miraculous. But, I wouldn't bank on it.

Remember Martha Stuart lives in a country where the water is " cold " from the tap. Our tap water in the Middle east Countries is not cold like in cooler climates. Suggest you put cooked eggs in another container and fill with water from tap with ice and that should give the same affect as Martha suggested. Good luck

I have mine over 20 years so make up of pans are probably different from ones made today. Re read the instructions again in case you may need to do anything to them again. Generally pans need to be seasoned and maybe do so 2 times. Mine are not non stick so I do need to stir frequently. I use saucepans mainly for boiling of veg or making soup .

Don't wait to see the doctor later this month ( what kind of Doctor ? ) if you can manage to go now , you really should ! This is not normal to lose this much weight and hair and who knows what else you may have or may not have noticed that has changed. Tell the Doctor all you issues, there can be many reasons for these issues and immune system as pointed out could be it, Thyroid over active ? many other reasons. Don't wait if at all possible as it will not just go away.

Why not ask a neighbour to wash the clothes and pay them a fair amount for the trouble and you can dry the clothes yourself as you do normally and will be alot less than 1000 dirhams.

Debs HH Grade 9, ( aged 13/14) no taxis, unless with an adult accompanying .Drop at mall and pick up or use bus if there is one available . Wait at Mall if you are concerned what could or could not be going on. Know her/his friends and are they wise company to keep ? If going to a party , Yes , ask to speak to parents or when dropping off just go in and saw hello I will pick my son/daughter up at 11pm or 2am so you have met the parents. Collecting do same ! From what I keep hearing from friends, The teenagers are ruling the roost too much and don't want parents to go to door to collect them and say phone my mobile and I will come out and parents are allowing the teens to dictate. Parents need to know other parents to help keep an eye on the teens. There is too much pressure on youngsters from friends, other teens, drugs, *** and alcohol and getting younger and younger. Adults need to take responsibility for their welfare .

If accent is really an issue in time when child is older then address the problem with elocution classes /Drama classes. Many people have strong accents and slang that would be worth improving on in some peoples eyes. The child will not pick up the teachers accent unless the child is listening to the same accent for all her education. See thread about accent softening posted a few weeks ago.

Dear Sarah Sorry to know you are finding things tough everyone goes through this even if they have lived here for some time. Rather than be on the computer too much, get out and meet real people and do real things and it may take time but you will get to know people. Suggestions of things to consider : Mall of Emirates, Walking group, every morning Sunday thru Thursday at 8.20 am ( meet at customer service dest beside Nike) Just go along and say it your first time and everyone is very welcoming and they go for a coffee afterwards and join in, make the effort. Lovely ladies from all over the world. If you don't have a car. take the bus or taxi to get you started . Expat woman coffee mornings at various places just check the website. Ranches Ladies , Arabian ranches Golf club every Tuesday 9.30am 35 dirhams. School PTA( parent , teacher Association). They always want hlepers. School , volunteer to help the younger children to read in your school or another school or any kind of help. If you are a church goer or not . there are plenty of Churches in Jebeil ali and Oud Metta, bet they all could do with helpers Guides and Brownies in Arabian Ranches and Jumeriah could do with adult volunteers ( if you want a number I can give it to you. K9 ( dogs ) always need helpers ( can get you that number if you can't find it, but just look up the website). I am sure ladies can add many more to the above list.

I agree with you. Unfortunately a lot of people go along with the myth no smoke without fire. Many peoples life are tarnish or destroyed by gossip, which people listen to often enough will actually believe which can be worse than media in a small community. I do hope they catch the correct killer and may him or her pay and not to be too " human rights " , sometimes one may wonder who's side the law is on.

Sara_2 As you are new and great you are asking for guidelines, best advice would be remember this is not our country and not to expect we can behave in the same manner as we may do in our own home country, we are welcomed foreigniers here. Expat women recently had a lsit of guidlines on the home page i am sure it is somewhere if you had a look on this website. This you may also find helpful and introduces you to U A E local life is The Jumeriah Mosque, beside Spinneys/The One Store in Jumeriah 1, gives talks on various on the way of life in the U A E and how one is expected to behave living here ( even if you are not Muslim) in the U A E . Maybe you could look it up on google and get times of talks , they are excellent and very valuable. If you decide to go along ,yYou need to have your shoulders covered ( no low top) and sleeves at least near your elbow and covered skirit /trousers to at least below your knee and also take a scarf to cover your head for when you enter the mosque. also go to a good book shop and ask for a book of information about living in Dubai and then read it. Mosque well worth a visit and when you more settled go along to the cultural centre. Make the most of the Cultural experience . :)

It is interesting how many people send their children boarding schools and in most cases is expensive and successful and not always paid for by companies as people love to assume . The children get the best of both worlds if they have or retain their friends here.

Dear Colombiana Thanks for filling us in a bit more and am really sorry to learn the struggle. Unfortunately Hormonal issues can go on for many years undetected and misdiagnosed along with insufficient mineral and vitamin deficiencies before professionals pick up on them. I would not claim to be a medical expert but have certainly learned alot about medical issues through contact with research and hospital the hard way through my life and am a lot better educated than I was 35 years ago and disagree with your last line as doctors do not always test efficiently. All Hormonal issues may not be detected within a year . I am never writing to critizie anyone but to try and be helpful , we are always at the hand of experts but they do not always have the expertise in the condition/sympthoms we display. If your Gyn and dem could not help longterm , my only other positive suggestion would be see an endocronologist ( may be spelt incorrectly ) This number i asked a friend for as she goes to her and maybe she will be able to help you . If you do go to see anyone else, I recomdend you take all of your previous blood tests and notes to fill them in your picture and reduce you time and cost per visit. Dubai is expensive ( not wanting to tell you how to spend your money as another poster suggested ) I wish you well and hope you get to the bottom of your issue and look forward to learning in time life is going better for you ( if i stay on E W ). I get fed up with the constant knocking what ever the thread. One lady who has a very good reputation is Dr Fatma Al Marashi who is well known in Dubai ( Endocronologists) and her contact number is 04 429 7777 should you wish to investigate further.

Re reading the original poster thread , It refers to more than one issue that came to light following birth which is why gyn who specialises in pregnancy , birth and after care which affects womens hormones would be a good place to start. If the gyn feels a dem is required they would then advise that , where as a dem does not have the expierence and knowledge of a Gyn specialist. Not alot of difference in cost beteen a GP and Gyn but as she had issues after having a baby , would have thought specialsit to do with same was a better place to start. What ever op poster does hope it gets sorted.

Those running non profit making schools are doing very nicely, good life style, good salary, security and all schools give plenty of additional days off but not reducing the fees or making up the lost days but won't allow parents to rock their boat. As per cmke " Not all schools are making money " ????????????????????? ? So where are the refunds or make up days for additional days off given they did not bother to plan when they could have on some occasions in the calender.

Agree with posters title ,not a lot of passion . Schools also don't want parents to be too passionate as risk interferring ( as they the schools see it ). Schools want the control which is reasonable but do not always see the bigger picture . A lot depends on parents own education and experience and views of professionals and how things should be.
