There are two options: they are still in recruitment process (however it's too long even for local standards) or most likely the simply don't send you any update. Contacting with companies here is like sending email to black hole. Sad but true.

Car is a must if you want be independent. Otherwise city's taxi called Karwa or Uber which is 30% cheaper than taxi. There are some buses but timetable is chaotic and it's rather targeted for labourers.
