I would recommend you get in touch with one of the shipping companies in KSA. Doing the process on your own is not easy, especially on the KSA side. You should look at either Four Winds or East & West Express for a quote. UAE has a 5% customs tax on imported good that would apply to your good as well until you get the residency and then would be returned. All this is subject to a good clearance agent. Good luck with the move!

If you are looking for someone to guide you in sorting some issues your cat might have call Umm Suqeim Vets and ask for Marilyn. She has greatly helped us with our cat's issues.

Hi Chippy! Sanddy_Dogg is right. You can not take pets as excess baggage to UK. Our cat moved to Jeddah ;) just me left in Dubai waiting for my visa. ;) Good luck with the move!

Hi Victoria! Sorry for late reply. happy to help, i was confused initially and having this info would have been great. Our cat was not seen by any vet at check in time or when handed over to Emirates staff. technically the cat was seen by vet at time of issuance of health certificate and that is enough. Not sure what are the requirements from destination country. sounds like you are a far too nice person helping maid with fees for cat's papers. But OMG extra luggage with Emirates!!!! She should pay fot it or take less stuff back. Hope all goes ok at airport and you don't spend too much time there.

Hi Victoria, Our cat flew out of Dubai with my husband this Sunday and this is what happens: - you go to the check in counter as you would normally do. - The cat should have been previously booked on the flight by informing Emirates. They need at least 48 h notice to make the necessary arrangements on the flight. - They will check that the health certificate is in order, beware there are different requirements for different destinations. However Emirates system is not always updated. We were told 2 days before that the health certificate/ export permit needs to be certified by the embassy of country of destination as per their system, when in reality the agent confirmed it is not needed - once the cat is booked in and the box tagged just like a suitcase the counter staff will call a porter who will take you to pay excess luggage amount for the cat at normally 75 AED per kg - once payment is done the same porter will take you and the cat downstairs with a lift. there a policeman will check again papers. He might ask to take cat out and xray box. We were not asked at 5 am, I guess to early ;) - that is where you say bye bye to kitty and next time you will see kitty is at destination. Hope this helps. NB: you need to make sure the right paperwork is in place. Also the e-card they keep on going about over the phone is not needed. It was replaced by the 400 AED fee paid towards health/ export certificate Good luck to your maid and well done to her that she is not abandoning her cat.

Thank you Ladies! I am willing to pay for the notice period, no issue there. Sounds like a trip to RERA is in order.

Exactly what medication do you need. I have some left from my failed IVF in March. I have recently checked and all still within validity. If what I have is needed, I will gladly donate.

Hello Ladies, If you are trying to see the monthly deals from a computer and its not showing then give The Entertainer a call and they will reset your account. Seems to be an issue on their side. Was told this by a friend, I called them and a very nice lady helped me, while I waited on the line. Now all working just fine. Not sure if the same applies for the mobile app, but worth asking them anyway. Hope this helps! Have a great evening!

We are located South of London. Royal Mail is our second option. Seems they are charging around 200 pounds for a years worth of redirecting outside UK and EU. At the end of the day, when balancing everything, its not that bad. Thanks ladies for your feedback. :)

Hi Geordie expat! Thanks you for the feedback. Unfortunately we do not have any family in UK. All are scattered all around the world. We had a neighbor who was taking care of our mail and was sending over every couple of months. However he is moving house and we are left with finding a solution quickly. We will have to consider our options. ;)

Hello Ladies, I have been searching and could not find a conclusive answer. We want to have out mail redirected from UK to Dubai. Have any of you used a UK Shop and Ship account to redirect the mail to? Is it a good option? Any of you using the same? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated TIA Joana

Sheila, Claire at Belissimma Salon in Tecom is very good. I have used her a couple of times after my original hairdresser left Dubai and I am happy with the results. As good as my hairdresser in London.

Hello Lunasmile If you are willing to see a male doctor I can recommend Dr Wael Lakkis at Jumeira American Clinic in Village Mall. Could not be happier with his services. I have previously seen only female doctors and the one I have seen here in Dubai missed a diagnostic big time. Google him and you will easily find directions. All the best!

Hi Kathyt , Sounds like you have survived the baptism of fire in the rainy season. Hang in there , it will get better with time. Rains should stop in a month or so. Anytime you have questions please do not hesitate. More than happy to share all my knowledge about Lagos.

Hi Kathy, I moved to Dubai after 2 and a half years in Lagos. Not an easy place to be and having the support of the Company is important. You have 2 options for a support network: British Women's Group and American Women's Group. I can put you in touch with both. Ikoyi is a good place to be as it is safer than other parts of Lagos. If you have a list of questions please let me know, I will gladly help. Joana
